"So what did you find out?" Silva asked, playing his handheld video game. It was a lot easier now that he had longer legs. Aleric dropped down on the stuffed toy couch, sprawling comfortably.
"That there are more blonde feien than I thought." Aleric replied, looking thoughtful. "You think if we bred our kids would be blonde?"
"You think I care if they're blonde?" Silva asked, his tone bored. He reached up, touching his head. "Sure as hell won't be brunettes."
"Good point." Aleric said. "You really wanted a kid? I mean I can't see you--"
Silva paused, stepping on the off button then dropping off of the game. He turned, heading for the window, looking out at the house behind them, silent for a little while. "I lied." He muttered, crossing his arms over his chest.
"About wanting--"
"No. There's something I'm... worried about. Hell, I've been worried about it all along." He chewed on his toothpick, not looking at the other male.
"And that would be?"
"Becoming like Snake." He finally turned. "Sure, I don't give a s**t about most of the people I meet. But..." He shrugged, tossing his toothpick aside and turning to walk away.
"Get back here." Aleric said, his tone cold.
"What?"
"I said get back here. You're not--" He gulped, blinking as Silva appeared right in front of him, his eyes narrowed as he glared down at him.
"You think you can tell me what to do?" Silva asked, his tone vicious.
"You've been in a self-pity mood long enough." Aleric said, not backing down. "Everyone dies, Silva. I did. But that's no reason to start spouting ludicrous ideas like thinking you're anything like that killer."
"I AM a killer."
"Of what? Mice? Rats? A snake or two?"
"All of which are more dangerous than you."
"I know that. And that's why you kill them."
Silva jerked, pulling away.
"You wouldn't take a girl hostage. You wouldn't kill someone weaker than you. You're too damn proud." Aleric said, knowing he was taking his life in his hands.
Silva paused, forcing himself to calm, then snorted. "Believe whatever the hell you want, Old Man. I'm not going to stop you."
"You could have killed me."
"Believe me, I tried."
"You healed me." Aleric said, determined to make his point. "You're not Snake. You'll never be Snake." Then he stopped. "But this is what this thing is about, isn't it?"
Silva went silent.
"The child. You want to prove something to yourself." Aleric said, as if realizing it just then. "What happened?"
Silva stayed quiet, memories of getting tossed out of Kookaberra's place rushing through his mind. Of how he had thought about what it would be like to be a dad... of his conversation with Neruo... and the one with Ruya...
"If it was my kid..." He said softly. "Then her a*****e father wouldn't try to kick me out of the house when I was trying to train her." He finished, once again looking out the window.
"...Oh."

Meeting Aria Rynn Aria flew into the shop, carrying her gemstone with her. She didn't know where this Julius lived, but Ian did. And he had tried to talk her out of it. He had said she'd regret not being able to have more kids, but she fired back. What had it mattered? The only one who did breed with her is going to merge as well. And he saw how their kids came out. There was no one else left who would have bred with her. Ian had thrown his hands up in disgust and left. So she took the chance and left before Kira saw her and came with her. She wanted to do this alone. She flew to the board, searching for directions to his house, or whereever the ancient stayed. Ice Queen Aleric slipped into the shop again, this time through the window, noting the way that Silva dropped down on the outter windowsill to wait. The other male was in a... mood, he thought, sighing slightly. And he had put that cape on again. Aleric hated that cape. But that was okay. Silva would do what he would do, and Aleric would see about meeting more feien. One of these days he was going to set up a real feien soccer game, he thought. He smiled slightly as he caught sight of a blue female, and flew over. "Hello." He said, alerting her to his presence. Rynn Aria startled, nearly dropping her gemstone. But the voice was friendly, so she turned, smiling. She had never seen this feien before. "Hi," she said, her eyes looking over the feien. He was kina cute. Ice Queen "Is that--" He stopped, moving closer to look at the gem. "Is that a feien gemstone?" Then he stopped, "I'm Aleric, by the way. I guess it's kind of rude to ask questions before introducing yourself." Rynn "Nice to meet you." She glanced down at the gemstone, then nodded. "Yeah...it is. I was thinking about merging with it. Ianios, my brother, if you wanna call him that, is going to merge with his, and so I thought about doing the same thing with mine." She sighed softly, thinking back a bit. "No point hanging onto it. We had kids already. I'd like more, but with Ian going to merge, and all the others I was close too moved away, well, might as well." She smiled at him. "Hadn't seen you before. Nice markings." Ice Queen "Um... thank you." He said, his focus on the stone. He reached out, as if to touch it, then hesitated. "I'm sorry, this is the first time I've seen another--I mean a feien gemstone. I was reborn almost two months ago. It's kind of... strange." He finished. He had been like this stone. And she was-- "Do you know who the feien was? I mean before..." He motioned to the stone. Rynn Aria shook her head. "No, actually I don't. I wish I did." She glanced at the stone then back to him. "You were once a gemstone? Ian wanted to try to bring Cel back, he's a gem now, but he was afraid he'd fail, and lose it, so he decided to merge. They were great friends, and it just tore us apart when we found out he died." Ice Queen Aleric looked up, nodding slightly. "I was. My bond... found me on the floor of the shop." He paused, thinking of her comment about her brother's friend. "Death is often hard to accept." He turned, looking down at the stone in her hands, wondering if he had once known the feien it held. Even if he had, he wouldn't remember now. A small, accepting smile crossed his lips. "But life goes on. Forgive me for sounding foolish... but how exactly do you merge?" He had read the notes, but found them slightly vague. Perhaps she knew. Rynn Aria shrugged. "I don't know, really. I heard it hurts though." She forgot where she had heard that though. "What was it like being brought back? Do you remember anything about before? Ian said Julius told him if he did manage to bring Cel back, he wouldn't be the same feien. Seems odd to me. Why wouldn't he be the same?" She was curious. Maybe a feien brought back would know. Ice Queen "It's not like..." He stopped, trying to figure out how to explain it. "It's like being a juvenile in the body of an adult. You have scars, and things you might have been able to explain... but you can't remember how you got them." He flexed his wing, gently fingering the tattered flesh. "I remember nothing of my past. I'm not even sure I'm the same person I was... before. It might be more difficult if people knew me... but I didn't know them." He said, looking thoughtful. Rynn "Sounds awful," she said, reaching out and patting his arm. She wondered how different she'd be if she had been brought back. "Well, you're a very nice feien. Seems a lot aren't, anymore. At least the few I knew. I don't leave home much," she explained, "and most I knew have moved. Never grew close to many anyhow." She shrugged. It didn't matter now. She'd merge and keep on doing what she did, which wasn't much. Ice Queen "And you are a very nice feien, as well." He replied, giving her a little smile. "I've met several nice feien, actually. My friend Hari was reborn around the same time as I was. And her bondmate's other feien, Ryuusei is quite nice as well." He glanced towards the window, catching sight of Silva watching him in amusement. "Although not all feien are easy to... get to know." He finished lamely. A lazy smirk of amusement crossed Silva's face and Aleric looked away, turning back to Aria. "I don't believe I've caught your name?" Rynn Aria blinked. "Oh! How rude of me, I thought I had told you! I'm so sorry! I'm Aria." She held out her hand after shifting the gemstone in her arms. She was kinda forgetful at times, and honestly thought she had said her name. She blushed. He was cute, especially when he smiled. She glanced the way he had, seeing another feien she didn't know. "Who's that? A friend of yours?" Ice Queen Aleric took the hand, bowing slightly as he bit back a laugh. She was very sweet and bubbly, if a little silly. But he didn't mind. "It's very nice to meet you, Aria. And that's..." He stopped, glancing over at the bored looking Silva. "One of those feien that are more difficult to get to know." "So what brings you to the shop today?" He asked, changing the topic. Rynn Aria giggled. She liked Aleric a lot. "I was wanting to see if I could find where Julius lived. Ian wouldn't tell me. I guess he is worried or something." She figured it was because he knew she wanted lots of kids and by telling her, she'd merge and that wouldn't happen. "What brings you here?" She asked, setting down on the counter. Holding that gem for a while made her arms hurt. Ice Queen "Julius?" Aleric asked, going still as he thought. "I might be able to find out for you." He turned, walking towards the boards and reading quickly. "I've come to look up some information." He told her, then pointed. "He's at the same place Simon is." He told her, pointing at the picture. Another ancient... interesting. He paused looking thoughtful. Rynn Aria looked, then grinned. "Ah...thanks. I'm a bit of a slow reader. Don't read that often. Rynn's books are too big for me to handle, but that doesn't stop Liliana. She's another fairy, but not a feien." She flew up to look, leaving the gem on the countertop. "I guess you haven't met him? Neither have I," she admitted. Ice Queen "Not yet, no--" "You don't want to." Silva called, making him turn. "He's a stuck up b*****d." Aleric blinked, then looked over at Aria. "I'm sure he's exaggerating." He told her, trying to sound reassuring. Silva was a little biased in his opinions of others, after all. "I'm sure he'd be willing to help." Silva snorted then went back to his relaxed observation. Rynn Aria turned at the sound of Silva's voice. "I find a lot of feien are, actually." She shrugged. She was starting to be a little jaded on most. The water feien looked back at the purple feien and smiled. "Perhaps. One doesn't know until one asks. Ian never really told me what he was like though. So he could be right or not." She hoped Aleric was right. What good would the stone be if he wouldn't merge her with it? Ice Queen Silva stood and stretched, revealing his long, lean length before looking over at Aleric. "If you're not going to read--" "Give me a minute." Aleric replied, moving towards the other scrolls. Silva nodded, looking over the female for a second. He had met her before... seen her around. He shrugged it off, getting impatient. He stepped in, heading for the scrolls as well. He wanted to read up on immortality. And maybe breeding. Ice Queen Silva stood, stretching and heading in to read for himself. Aleric was obviously busy flirting. He snorted. The old man liked females, that was for certain. "One to five... love?" He muttered under his breath, looking over at Aleric. Were they friends? He shrugged, chewing on his toothpick. They worked well together, talked well enough. They knew each other pretty well. He wasn't sure he knew how to love, actually. Aleric glanced over, already reading Silva's mind. He han't wanted to say anything, which was why he had been so easily distracted. Were they friends? It felt like it to him. He enjoyed talking to Silva... as well as training with him. The other male was honorable, in his own way. And Kisa was who she was because of Silva. And he loved Kisa... Silva looked over at Aleric, a slight smirk on his lips. "No regrets, right? Hell--" "Yeah." Aleric replied, already knowing what Silva was going to say. He turned, looking at Aria. "We live short lives. We should do everything we can. No regrets." Rynn Aria nodded. "Well, I kinda regret some things already. But they can't be helped." She glanced to her gemstone. "I would regret not being able to have more kids, but can't breed on one's own, either." She took a look at Silva, noticing the way he chewed on that toothpick. She was getting strange feelings off him. She wasn't too quick to judge though. Most, however, judged her. "I'm Aria," she offered to him, in case he hadn't heard earlier. "And you are?" Ice Queen Silva looked over. "His name is Silva." Aleric responded before Silva could say anything. "He's my... brother." Silva grunted, then spoke. "We've met before. When I was a kid." He turned, looking at Aleric. "You ready?" Rynn Aria nodded, trying to remember. "Oh, we did, I remember now." The blush returned to her cheeks. She turned to Aleric. "Leaving already? Well, it was nice to meet you." She smiled warmly at the ancient. "Hope to see you again soon." Ice Queen Aleric smiled and nodded in return. "You too." He told her, taking to the air. He followed Silva out the window, looking thoughtful. "Do you think it will work?" He finally asked. "Hell if I know." Silva replied, shrugging. "But if it doesn't, no guilt trips, alright? I might get over this giving mood. Starting to think Snake's smoking messed with my head." "I hadn't thought it got to you." Aleric replied, looking close to laughter. "You're worse than a mother." Silva replied as they headed home. Rynn Aria watched the two feien leave, giving a wave. She wondered if they were going to breed or something, just from the way they spoke. She shook her head. She should get back home herself. She flew down, picking up her gemstone. She hugged it tight, then headed out the window herself, going the opposite direction.

"Worst experience ever." Nick said, leaning back against a pixapet and munching on a grape.
"Nah. I think the time you tried to see if I was a girl was worse." Nack said, munching on a chip.
"I can top that." Silva said, watching them in amusement. He, Aleric and the boys were hanging out on the hope chest, getting drunk and eating junk food. He was already half way smashed. "How about the time Ice took us to Disney?"
"Nahhh, that wasn't bad! I almost got to ride in her shirt!" Nick said.
"Boy, you're a bigger perv than I am." Silva drawled, making them laugh. "All I can say is thank God we're never going there again."
"Disney?" Aleric asked, looking up from where he was cautiously sniffing the liquid Silva had given him. "What is that?"
"It's an amusement park!" Nick said, waving his grape happily. "They have rides and food... and more food... and rides..."
"And animals."
"And annoying bastards around every corner. Too damn crowded."
"You just didn't like being carried around in a bag." Nack said, dipping his chip.
Silva grunted. "Can't say that wasn't a factor."
Aleric bit back his amusement. "You were carried in a bag?"
"I was a kid at the time." Silva muttered, almost flushing. Although whether if was from the topic or from the drink it was hard to tell. "But I've got one worse."
"Really?" Nack asked.
"Yeah, Boss-man! Tell!"
Silva lifted the mini black cherry fizz bottle, taking another large gulp before wiping his mouth with the back of his arm. "I was on a trip. Through the door, right? A pirate ship--"
"Ooooh, I remember that one."
"Always did want to know what happened."
"Shuddup, brats, I'm telling a story." Silva said. "Turns out that this wasn't your normal type of pirate ship. This pirate ship was full of females. Hell, when I get there the first thing I see is a guy begging for his life. But me, well, hell, always knew females were the most dangerous creatures in the world."
"Why's that?" Aleric asked, curious.
"They're evil." Silva replied. "Plain and simple. But like I was saying, I went past the unlucky b*****d. Was going to look around, you know? And I came upon an auction."
"You mean--" Nack started out, his eyes going wide.
"Selling men. Called them slaves or something."
"And you--"
"Got caught off guard." Silva said blandly, making them all choke on whatever they were eating.
"No way!"
"Auctioned off to the highest bidder." Silva went on. "And just my luck it was a bimbo pirate named Penn." He took another drink. "She liked this music... man it was horrible... Then the ship was attacked."
"And?"
"I got free of the bird cage."
Aleric blinked. "Bird--"
"Don't ask. Wound up saving her life, came home. Couldn't get that damn song out of my head for weeks." He snorted as they started cracking up.
He took another drink, then put the bottle down. "I prefer a killer to a woman that thinks she's in love." He stated plainly.
"Who'd she love, Boss?"
"Who you think, brat?"
They went silent, then started laughing again even as Silva rolled his eyes. Aleric stopped laughing first, trying to imagine a bimbo pirate woman professing her love to Silva. Needless to say he was still smiling as he downed his very first alcoholic drink.
Until he wound up throwing it up half an hour later, that was.

"So... this is what she did to you with Disney?" Aleric said, looking blankly at the beach in front of him.
"Not quite." Nack called, carrying the child's swimming wing on top of his head as he headed for the shore. "Then she actually warned us before we took off."
"Dammit..." Silva muttered, making a face. "I hate backpacks."
"So are there... rides on this trip?" Aleric asked, ignoring Silva's comment. At least there had been stuff to eat in the backpack.
"Don't think so." Nick said, looking around. "Less you count getting drunk. Ice said this was a beach weekend." He glanced over to where Ice was lounging on a beach chair reading a book. He did love the beach so... all the bikinis and swimsuits... He grunted slightly, dragging the small bottle of beer behind him.
Silva snorted, hauling his own beer bottle over his shoulder, his surf board under his arm, and heading for Ice. Obviously he had gotten over his backpack problem, since he dropped down on the chair next to her and made himself comfortable. He had the sunglasses that Ruya made him long ago on, and looked, for all purposes, as if he owned the beach.
"He'll go surfing after his beer gets hot." Nick said, chasing after Silva.
"That makes perfect sense." Aleric said dryly, following them at a more sedate pace. He had one of the hotel face towels over his shoulder, and a cocktail umbrella that he had stolen from Ice's drink the night before. But he wondered if this was going to cause problems with what few relationships he had been building.
"First Mexico, now this... I bet they've forgotten I even exist." He said softly, a bittersweet smile on his lips as he set up his towel on the sand near Ice's chair.
"Hey, Ice?" Nick asked from Silva's chair. "Think we could hit disney--"
"Don't ask, brat." Silva said, taking another gulp of beer. "And I won't kill you."
"Silva!" Ice said, giving him a dirty look. She glanced up to wave at Kisa, who was playing in the tide, jumping before the water touched her feet. "But no, we're not going to disneyland this time. We're going to hang out on the beach and go shopping with Aunt Trinity."
"She's here?"
"Yeah."
"...Who's Aunt Trinity?" Aleric asked, looking confused.
"You'll find out soon enough." Ice told him, grinning slightly. Silva grunted, then stood, grabbing his surfboard and heading for the edge of the chair. "Where you goin, Silva?"
"Surfing. Because I sure as hell ain't going shopping."
"Stay in the shallow area, okay? There's been reports of sharks in this area before." Ice said, calmly, turning the page of her book.
Aleric blinked, but Silva only nodded, walking on. *******************************
Earth was, understandably, not his favorite place, Boss thought drily, looking over the beach with a slight smile. But this wasn't HIS earth. This was Ice's. And any trip to a beach was a good one! So here he was, having abused Ice's magical door most thoroughly, and what a "Was" it was.
His sunglasses slipped down his nose slightly as a scantily dressed human female walked past. Slowly, with a little smirk, he shoved his glasses back up his nose and headed for the shore, his board under his arm. He was going to enjoy this.
He didn't even notice Ice glancing up as he walked past, a strange look on her face.

(Trin used with permission from well... Trin.))
When Trinity got to the beach it was to the sight of Ice reading what looked to be a sci-fi romance, two little half furry boys playing with a child's waterwing like a beach ball, Aleric lounging in the sun, reading a book larger than he was, and Silva hanging ten on the waves coming into shore. They were barely over a foot tall, but somehow it was still impressive.
She juggled her bag of swimming things and plodded on onto the beach, dropping down on the chair next to Ice's. "So are we ready?" She asked, kicking her feet up.
"Look a little further forward." Ice said softly, not looking up from her book. Trin blinked, looking up. There was a man surfing in the higher waves that looked like--
"Boss? What's he doing here?"
"I don't know. But I bet he messed up my door again."
"Poor Ice." Trin said, trying not to laugh. "Is that Kisa?"
"Yup. She grew up." Ice waved at the female in question, watching her chase a crab... then get chased by the crab. "I've got no babies anymore... It's sad." Then she sat up. "Oh, but you haven't met Aleric yet, have you?"
"Aleric? Oh! The ancient you were telling me about!" She said. "No, I haven't. Is he the one reading?"
"Yeah, he's a real sweetheart. Come here, Aleric, meet your Aunt Trinity." Ice called, making Aleric look up, then get to his feet, looking for a way to mark his page. Before he could find one the wind blew the book shut. He sighed, then took to the air, dropping down on the chair next to Ice and looking up at the cat like female.
"Hello." He said, raising one hand slightly in greeting. "Lovely weather, isn't it?"
Trinity blinked, then smiled. "Yes it is. And how are you enjoying your vacation, Aleric?"
"It's very... sandy."
The females bit back a laugh and Ice turned to Trin. "He's a lot different, as you can tell." She said. "But he and Silva are starting to get along, aren't you?"
"We were stuck in Mexico together." Aleric said simply, as if that explained everything.
"Ahh." Trinity said, nodding. "So are we ready to go shopping?"
"Silva says he's staying here. I hope he doesn't get in any trouble..." Ice frowned. "I think I'll leave him my cell phone so he can call if anything happens." She glanced over at the empty beach. "Maybe I should ask Boss to keep an eye on him..."
"Nah, I'm going shopping too." Boss said as he walked up the beach, Kisa automatically following. "He'll be fine."
"How'd you hear--oh never mind. If you're not right I swear I'm going to cut your Play Alien supply off." Ice said, grabbing her shorts and slipping them on.
"I'm right. I'm always right, aren't I, Darlin?" He asked Kisa, making her roll her eyes. "Now let's get going."
Nick and Nack looked up. "We're staying. We'll call if anything happens."
"Okay. That makes me feel better." Ice said, scooping Aleric up in her hand and heading for Trinity's car. "Book store?"
"Book store!"
"Um... Mall?" Boss offered.
"Yeah yeah..."

"How does this translate to 'Mall?'" Ice asked, looking up at the Souvenier Shop with a hint of resign.
"That's a shark, right?" Aleric asked from where he peered over the edge of Trin's beach bag. He was looking at the large, open mouthed shark that made up the enterance of the building with something close to awe.
"That's a piece of concrete." Boss replied, shrugging. "But a nice touch. Um... there a reason you're in the bag?" He peered around Trinity to look in the bag, making the Teiru roll her eyes.
"I'm not supposed to be seen by people that don't have feien." Aleric replied. "And I've broken that rule enough already."
"Huh." Boss said, shrugging it off. He walked on, leading the way as if by instinct, pausing when he got to the shirts, a little grin on his face as he flipped through some of the more suggestive ones.
"Ooooh... they've got whips!" Ice called from the toy section.
"Put that down! You might hurt someone!" Trinity told her, hauling her bag a little higher up her shoulder.
"You'll let me play with broadswords but not a toy whip?"
"You've got experience with sharp objects."
Aleric bit back a laugh, turning to look around the shop curiously. It wasn't very crowded, which made him feel more comfortable. Windchimes, beach towels, shirts, seashells, shoes, toys, hats, Boss coming towards them with a Pizzaria shirt-- Aleric blinked, reading the line "If you like my peperonni you'll love my sausage."
"No." Ice said before Boss could even reply.
"But this shop doesn't take creds!"
"Oh for cryin--"
Trinity rolled her eyes, digging out her wallet. "Fine, but this is the only thing I'm buying for you."
"Let me keep looking." Boss said, not accepting the cash. They waited until he was out of sight to start laughing.
Aleric climbed out of the bag, sitting on the lip of it, one arm wrapped around the strap as he kept watching silently. Idly he wondered if Silva was having as interesting time as he was... ******************
Silva crawled up onto the beach, coughing slightly before falling on his face. The waves of the ocean were a lot larger than in his pool. He smirked slightly. He liked that.
"Yo, Boss, why don't you take a break?" Nick called, munching on some of the ham Ice had left in the ice chest. "We're having lunch."
Silva nodded, shoving himself to his feet and heading for the boys. Now this was his idea of a decent vacation.

Sunburns and Misplaced Sarcasm "I think I got a tan?" Aleric asked, looking at his arm thoughtfully as he and Silva flew into the shop. "Feien don't tan." Silva told him, looking around for a second. He hadn't missed this place, that was for sure. He still wasn't sure why they were coming in the first place. "No, I think I look darker. You do, as well." "You spent too much time staring at the sun." Silva told him, heading for the counter. "Now, if you look up here, you can see how many books the shop has. I'm sure that if you asked Simon, he'd let you borrow one." Neruo explained. He sat up from his spot on the second-to-top shelf. Demetrius was standing on the arm of the couch, watching him, silent. The yellow Feien had heard voices come in, but did not turn around. Neruo, though, waved when he saw Silva. "Silva! Good to see you! ....Are you more red than usual today?" he asked curiously. Silva twitched, thinking of the bath he had taken privately in Ice's aloe vera. "I told you, feien don't tan." He muttered before looking over at Neruo. "Flower Boy. Gotten drunk lately?" Aleric bit back a laugh, turning to Neruo as well. "Your name is... Flower Boy?" Although he was pretty sure it wasn't. Silva had yet to say his name, too. For that matter he rarely said anyone's proper name, save Ice... "Mine is Aleric. It's a pleasure to meet a friend of Silva's." Because he had never thought he would. Neruo smiled and laughed. "No, I haven't gotten drunk again. Though that one time was quite fun, wasn't it?" Waving generously to the new, purple Feien, he stood up and introduced himself. "I'm Neruo, actually. Silva just calls me that...well...because he's Silva. Oh! And that young one down there is Demetrius. Say hello, 'Trius!" The yellow Feien was far too busy to be bothered, looking over each and every book title. He mearly flopped his hand over his shoulder, slightly hoping it was in their direction. "Charming, isn't he?" Neruo drifted back to his comfortable spot on the bookshelf, laying down again. Silva looked at the boy for a second, one eyebrow raising slightly as he moved his toothpick slightly. Then he shrugged it off. It was Neruo that had to deal with him. And his lack of respect. Aleric blinked, then nodded at the other male, knowing he couldn't see. "He seems... nice." He said blandly. Silva snorted. "Why are you here, man? Your owner kick you out?" Idly he wondered how long it took Neruo to get to the shop. "Last week?" Neruo couldn't help but snort. That was truely hilarious. "No, no, I wasn't kicked out." he managed between bursts of laughter. "Oh, Silva, you never cease to make me smile." That wasn't meant as an insult, either. Demetrius' ears perked as he heard one of the Feien behind him speak about him. Turning about slight, he eyed them both. More people Neruo knew. How many friends did one Feien possibly need? And where was a computer in here? 'Trius stood up finally and floated around the shop, searching for something to write with. Or, at least, to get away from those strange Feien. Aleric blinked, confused. It had sounded like an insult to him, but the other feien had found it funny, so it was obviously meant as a joke... or the other feien didn't mind laughing at himself. "I um... don't quite understand." He said, cautiously. "Orange Boy here is a little..." Silva started out, a little smirk playing on his lips. "Slow. Makes you look like hyperspeed." "Oh." Aleric said, still slightly confused. "I'm sorry." He told Neruo, for some reason making Silva bite back a laugh. Neruo sat up again. Poor purple Feien seemed...much different than he had expected. At least Silva hadn't rubbed off on him too much. At least, not that he could tell. Smiling, he stood up and began to float down, demonstrating how slow he really was. Laughing again, he said, "I make glass look fast. Silva might be an old man by the time I get down to you guys!" He was, of course, joking, but it would take him a good five minutes to bridge the gap. Meanwhile, Demetrius found a perch on the shop counter. No real writing tools that lived up to his standards were around. He'd just have to watch and remember. Aleric blinked, then allowed himself to smile. He was of he firm belief that one should always be cautiously friendly to all new people. So far it had worked out well. But this one seemed used to Silva, which was shocking in itself. "I guess we shouldn't try to get him to join the feien soccer team, then." He said dryly, glancing over at Silva. "Not unless you want to lose." Silva agreed. "So what's it like being stuck with a juvenile?" He asked, glancing over at the yellow feien again. Finally landing, Neruo stood up. Silva was taller than him! He hadn't noticed it much beforehand. He shrugged inwardly and began to look the shorter, purple Feien over. "You said your name is Aleric? That's a nice name. When did you arrive?" He was curious, and dually noted Silva's question. Apparently, he wasn't "stuck" with a juvenile, like he was. Turning an absent eye to Demetrius, he explained. "Well, it's alright, I suppose. I honestly wanted someone a bit more...social. But at least he's not rude or anything." Demetrius looked up, watching Silva watch him. He looked away. The marroon one seemed rude. He didn't want to get any closer to him. "A little over two months ago." Aleric said, feeling as if he were a part of the "Boys." "I was reborn." He finished, shrugging. Silva snorted. "Sounds like a hell of a lot of fun." He drawled. Somehow he doubted the boy knew how to surf. Then again, neither did Neruo. "You seen Ruya?" He asked, unable to help himself. He hadn't seen her since leaving on his quest. For some reason he didn't want to admit how badly he had screwed up to her. Neruo blinked. "Reborn?" That concept had confused him. Weren't Feien just regular 'born'? Like, from a flower, like the rest of them? The mention of such a foreign concept had perked Demetrius' interest, though. The yellow Feien, who was faster than Neruo, floated over to stand near them. Not ext to, but close enough to pick up on the better details of the conversation. Turning away fro mAleric, Neruo's expression drooped a bit. "No, I'm sorry. I haven't seen her in a long time. I assume you haven't, either..." "She's somewhere." Silva replied, shrugging. "I haven't seen her for a while, either." He glanced over at Aleric, then back to Neruo. "s**t happens, right?" Aleric frowned, not knowing exactly what was happening. They both seemed well acquainted with the female. "We should get going." Silva muttered. Demetrius sighed quietly and flew off to sit on another windowsill. Neruo blinked at his sudden departure and rubbed the back of his head. "Well, I'm sorry if I ended up ruining the mood..." Turning to face Aleric, he extended a hand in friendship. "If you do leave right now, it was a pleasure to meet you." "I think his 'not there' sunburn is getting to him." Aleric said, glancing over at Silva, wondering why his mood had changed so abruptly. "It was a pleasure to meet you, Neruo. I'm sure we'll see each other again." Silva grunted then took to the air, looking over at the yellow feien briefly before turning and heading for the door. Neruo waved to them as they left. Demetrius was waiting for him on the windowsill. Sighing, Neuro took flight. It would take a long time to get home.

"And then they go back to being a flower for a while." Ice finished, shrugging and looking at Aleric curiously. "Why do you ask?" She had been slightly surprised when Aleric had raised the question of what happened during a breeding. But hey, if he was thinking of having babies she was perfectly good with it! She wondered who the lucky girl was...
"Back--"
"Into their flowers. Because their energy is low. See, they're giving up some of their magic to help create new feien. It's a tough job, but worth it." She smiled slightly, looking around the room. True, she had never had children of her own, but she had raised them. Kisa, Silva, the boys and-- She stopped, glancing away as she thought about the last of her family. Jade.
"Oh... huh." Aleric said, looking thoughtful. Silva wasn't going to like that... "Um, Ice... you ever thought of getting another feien?" He asked, sitting on the armrest of her chair, waiting patiently for her answer.
"Well, yeah. But it wouldn't be replacement for either--"
"Oh, we know that... now." He told her, still frowning slightly in thought. "But having a feien takes energy from you, right? We can't live without you, so we must be taking something from you."
Ice blinked, cocking her head slightly as she thought about it. "Well, yeah, I guess it does. Do you feel I've been neglecting you? I mean, I know--"
"No! Of course not! That's not exactly what I... um..."
"Meant?" She offered, smiling. She tucked her bookmark into her book and put it to the side before turning back to him. "Here's how it goes, Al, so listen closely. Some people... and creatures, have more energy to give than others. Chi, life force, whatever you want to call it. But what really matters is how much love someone is able to give. I've got plenty of chi to share, and plenty of love to go around. One more feien isn't going to kill me."
"You mean--"
"Do you want another feien in the family? I know it's tough living here with just Silva. And if--"
"Silva and I have... reached an understanding."
"You're sure--"
"But I would like to have another feien. I believe we all feel the same. In fact, we were thinking about--" He stopped, turning red for some reason.
"About?"
"Um... never mind. It was nothing." He muttered, turning and stepping off of the armrest, catching himself with his wings and flying away. She blinked, having seen Silva do that same move often enough before. *********************
"You WHAT?" Silva demanded, almost dropping his largest weight on his foot.
"Have to resume bloom form." Aleric said, calmly.
"Hell no." Silva said, his jaw tightening. "It was too damn small when I was a brat. There's no way in hell I'm going to fit all eight and a half inches in the damn thing. And who knows how long I would be stuck there?"
"Well, she said it was recovering from the magic transfer... and since you have high level magic--"
"Still ain't gonna do it. Find another way." He said, turning his back to the other male, a hint of relief crossing his face. Now he had a decent excuse to back out of the damn thing. He was going to grab it with both hands.

Hopefully Friendship Aleric slipped through the window of the store, looking around curiously for a second. He could only take so much time with Silva when the other feien was in this mood. It was like running into a thick, vine covered wall. It didn't hurt you unless you got close enough, but when you did you wound up in ribbons. Bloody ones. He had been like that since the flower comment, actually. And the only way Aleric knew how to deal with it was to get out of the way until he relaxed. Although, now that he thought about it, it might have had something to do with Ice's watching The Phantom of The Opera again... Silva seemed to hate the movie with a passion... Averno flitted in through a window , flapping her wings hard to stay aloft as she coasted backwards, staring at something through the portal. "Come on Arae...I don't have all day. This is the shop in here." A musical voice from outside called back, "Inside high walls and hidden from the sky...no wonder so many have lost touch with the world..." A soft sigh preceded the vibrant green and white creature who entered in the darker fairy's wake. Averno snorted and moved to alight on the countertop with Arae trailing. Aleric looked up at the sound of voices, smiling slightly as he caught sight of the second female. He hadn't gotten the chance to speak to her as much as he would have liked the last time they had met. "Hello." He said. "I was wondering when someone would show up." Ianios flew into the shop, quickly followed by Aria. Kira had been left at home, helping Rynn sort through some stuff. He landed on the windowsill, looking around, A couple of feien he hadn't met before. "Howdy," he called. Aria landed beside hikm, smiling when she saw Aleric. " Hi," she said shyly. Averno blinked over at the unfamiliar voice. "And who in the 9 hells are you?!" she sniped, her first reaction a hostile one after being started by the unexpected. Arae landed beside her and set a hand on the other Feien's arm. "Don't be so rude, Averno. Though I do not recall the name, I do believe I met this fine fellow at a...what was it called again...pic...nic?" She smiled at Aleric warmly. Aleric looked startled for a second before giving a slight laugh. "My apologies. I am Aleric, bondmate of Ice Queen, brother of Silva. And you are?" He glanced over at Aria, giving her a warm smile, then nodded at Ian before turning back to the first two females, since they had appeared first. Averno's wings twitched with impatience at the touch of Arae's hand, but she finally folder the leather appendages behind her back and pulled away from her companion. "Whatever. I told you I would show you this place and I did. You CAN find your way back without a babysitter...right?" The vibrant ancient bowed her head to Averno and pressed her hands together beneath her chin. "The paths home are many, and winding, but all lead home in the end." The darkness feien rolled her eyes and quipped towards Aria, Ian, and Aleric, "I hate it when she starts talking or wise and Yoda-ish. So I'll just leave her to your company." Without any further delay, Averno launched into the air and headed for the window to escape her 'sister' of sorts. Arae turned to regard the others and she smiled sweetly. "Youth does carry with it the dual weights of impatience and intolerance. I am pleased to see more Feien walking this strange world. I have been sequestered far too long." Aria blushed, ducking her head a bit. Ianios glanced over, blinking. "What's gotten into you?" he asked, his voice low enough so only she could hear. "I think he's cute," she replied, glancing back at Ian. The green feien smirked, shaking his head. "You're a flirt, you know that?" She looked at him, a little shocked and offended. "I am not...Ian, take that back!" He laughed, then flew over to the bulletin board. "Perhaps later..." Then he turned his attention to the board, reading. Aria just stood there, smirking to herself. She flew down to where Aleric was just listening to the conversion. "Then it's a good thing for you to be here." Aleric replied, smiling at the white female. "I've met many nice feien in this very spot. Isn't that right, Aria?" He looked over at the blue feien with a grin. "Aria, this is another ancient, um... I'm afraid I haven't caught your name?" He said, turning to Arae with a curious look. Arae puzzled a moment and seemed to be deeply lost in though. "Many names have I had over the years, but most are lost to me as I to the ages. The last I recall is Arae, and such I am called it still, good Aleric." She looked curiously towards Aria and Ian. "And by what names are you called?" Aria smiled. "Most I meet here at the shop are pretty nice. I am Aria. His is Ianios, but everyone calls him Ian." The green feien turned, and smiled. "Pleased to meet you." Aleric glanced over at the male reading the board before turning back to the females with a gentle smile, letting them get acquainted. Aria and Arae both seemed to need more friends, although he would never mention that. But it would be nice if they were to become friends. Arae smiled "A pleasure to meet you." Her green eyes darted about the shop as she spoke, taking in everything with curiosity. "How long have all of you been self aware in this world?" Aria thought a moment. "I have been alive for over a year now. Ian's first year summonsday will be soon, I believe." She walked closer now that the dark feien was gone. She seemed sort of rude, but then again, maybe she was having a bad day. Ian flew down from reading the board. Landing near the green-haired feien, he smiled. "Yeah, in about 4 days I believe. How about yourself?" A pale finger stroked across Arae's chin as she considered the question presented to her. She frowned. "I am not certain. I have never measured the days as so many of this world seem to. A long time...is the best I can offer." She glanced out the window. "Sadly, though we've only just met, I must take my leave of you. I have to aid a friend back at my bond's home. I hope to see all of you again sometime." The green-tressed female smiled one last time, then she launched herself up and out the window. Aleric nodded, watching her go before turning to Ian. "Then happy early summon day." He said, offering his hand. "I've only been alive again for... two and a half months, I believe. I don't recall how long I lived before this time. I don't suppose it matters." Ian took it, shaking his. "Thanks. Dunno what my bond will do for mine." "I heard she was going to throw a little party," Aria said. She looked to ALeric. "Would you like to come?" "I would love to." Aleric said, grinning slightly. "You can have your bond drop a note to mine when and where it will be?" He assumed their bonds knew each other, or at least how to get ahold of one another. Ice helped run the place, after all. "Sure, she can drop a note to your bond. Should be held at our house." She smiled. "She got us a pool so we can go swimming. But she'll leave a note with directions. It'll be nice to have you there." She blushed brightly. She had a hard time hiding her attraction. "Thank you." He said, nodding slightly and looking over at Ian. "Congratulations on living a full year. It's harder than it seems." He paused, looking thoughtful. "I should be going now, it's been a pleasure." He took to the air, heading for the door, wondering if Silva was over his funk yet. He felt like a game of football. Aria watched him leave, still blushing. She looked to Ian. "Perhaps we should return home as well?" she asked, sighing softly. Ianios nodded. "Sure. And maybe I can make it up to you later," he told her, smirking. She giggled, flying out the window. "Only if you can catch me." "You're on!" With that, he chased her out the window.

It had been raining off and on for a few days, humidity hung in the air like a blanket, covering people and feien and holding them down. Just like Silva was appearantly held down to his couch, his magazine in his hands. He figured it could be worse... they could be wearing clothes.
He hadn't talked much in the last few days. Not since saying he wouldn't breed. And Aleric was trying to figure out why he was being so quiet. Sure, Silva was usually moody, but this seemed different. Worse part was that the boys didn't seem to think it was so strange. Did Silva go through these mood swings on a regular basis?
"He's about to leave again." Nack said softly when Aleric broached the question.
"wh--what?"
"He gets in this mood right before he goes off to do something suicidal." Nick said, shrugging. "Unno why."
"Why he does things that are suicidal?"
"Why he gets this way before he does it."
"Oh..." Aleric said, looking thoughtful. "What do you think drives him?"
"Sometimes..." Nack said, looking thoughtful. "I'm not sure he even remembers. He's been doing this since he was a kid." They glanced over at Silva for a second, making him look up with a hint of a dark expression. "He always comes back, and usually in a better mood."
"Because he survived?"
"Sounds like a good reason for a good mood if you ask me." Nick said, shrugging.
"But there's a chance he won't survive."
"You met Snake."
"Yes... I did." Aleric said, falling silent. This lifestyle would wind up getting the other male killed before he died from his high magic level, he thought, slightly disgusted. "We're going to have to keep him from doing something stupid."
"Why?" Nick asked.
"He's uh... got a good question. Silva's done it a million times before. No sense in--"
"Because what happens if he doesn't survive?" Aleric asked. He was now set on his goal, regardless of what the boys said. They had to save Silva from himself!
Now if only he could figure out how...

The knock on the closet door, from inside the closet, was something that Aleric still had to get used to. He gently put the weight he was lifting down, taking to the air and crossing the room, opening the door hesitantly. He hoped it wasn't Snake...
"Who are you?" A females asked. She looked a lot like Ice, save for the large, and quite heavy looking broadsword slung over her shoulder. "Don't tell me she got another one! So where is she, anyways?"
"Um... Ice?"
"Yes, Ice. Who else do you think I would be looking for?" the female asked. Another female peered around her shoulder, smiling slightly and waving. She was quite beautiful, making Aleric pause for a second as a picture flashed through his mind.
"J--Jade?" He asked, earning a bright happy smile.
"Hello." The female said. She was no longer a child, though, and it made him worry for a second. Yet another adult female in the house... "Is Mom here?"
"She's um... at the park with Kisa."
"Kisa?"
"She's another one of Ice's children."
"I have a sister?" Jade asked, her eyes widening along with a smile. "How wonderful! I want to meet her as soon as possible!" She looked at the other female, a silent communication going on before the other female nodded.
"Then she'll be staying with you." She said, moving back towards the door. "Tell Ice I'll drop off anything expensive that I find while exploring. To help pay for Jade's room and board."
"Yes, ma'am." Aleric said, smiling slightly as the green haired female reached down, offering her hand for him to stand on. "My name is Aleric, fair lady, and I know someone who will be very happy to see you." **********************
"Hello, Pretty Fairy." The voice send the hair on the back of Silva's neck standing, the deep, husky tone that he had never heard before saying the words he hadn't heard in a long time. He turned, staring blankly at the female in front of him, then grunting.
"It's about damn time." He told her, grunting again as she pulled him into a gentle hug.
"I've heard you replaced me." She said, teasingly.
"And why would I want to do that? You spent most of the time getting me sticky." He pulled himself away, looking at her apraisingly. "Not bad, darlin. You grew up well."
"You have, too." She said, smiling. "It seems we both have new siblings."
Silva shrugged, glancing over at Aleric, but saying nothing.
"If I might ask..." Aleric said, hesitantly, "Where have you been all this time?"
"With my other mother, exploring a planet that is not as... forgiving as this one." She said, gently sitting down on the edge of the bed and looking at them both. "I have missed this place."
Silva said nothing, merely chewed on his toothpick, trying to reconcile the delicate little girl he had taught to write with this woman in front of him. He figured it would take a while.

"What the hell has gotten into her?" Silva asked, looking up from his pushups. Ice had been staring at the computer for the last few days, jotting notes onto a old fashioned notebook and talking to herself. She hadn't paid any attention to anyone lately, at least, other than giving Jade a hug and telling her and Kisa to go shopping together. She had even handed over her wallet for that one, shockingly enough.
"She's discovered a new world." Aleric replied calmly, not pausing in his own pushup routine. They each had one of the boys sitting on their backs to make it harder. Beneath the wings, of course. Silva had Nick, Aleric had Nack, as Silva had insisted for some strange reason. Aleric still hadn't figured that one out.
"Not discovered... not yet." Nack said. "She's working on discovering it. I think there's going to be ships on it."
"Ships?" Silva grunted, thinking back to his one experience with a ship. "Don't tell me..."
"Nope, no amazons this time!" Nick said happily. "I already checked. But there's notes on dragons!"
"Dragons."
"Yup."
"Sounds interesting."
"Nope."
They went silent for a second before Silva spoke again. "What do you mean not interesting?"
"Remember those little dragons you bought? Like the one you gave Io and the other you gave your girlfriend?" Nack asked.
"... Oh. Right." Silva grunted, going back to his workout as easily as that.
"Um... would someone please explain?" Aleric asked, looking confused.
"Well..."
"No." Silva said.
"Not even a little?" Aleric asked.
"Not even a little. I'd rather forget, thank you very much."
"Silva has a thing against dragons." Nack said blandly. "One of them liked to catch him on fire."
The room went silent again, a few coughs sounding as they fought the urge to laugh.
"And chew on his hair." Nick added a few seconds later.
"...Oh." Was all Aleric could think to say. "So I guess this means we won't be visiting this world."
Silva didn't say anything at all.

It was a few days after their conversation when Silva headed for the door, his staff and bag over his shoulder, his toothpick between his teeth. So there were dragons in this world. Big deal. He was sick and tired of being stuck in the same house with the same people. And he was really sick of listening to Aleric lecture him on keeping safe.
The whole kid thing was a non-issue now. What the hell did he have left to live for? Or at least, live that same boring routine over and over again for. He smirked, stepping onto the handle and turning it with a little of his giant strength. He was through the door before anyone even noticed. ************************
The salt in the air was biting, catching him off guard as it burned in his throat for a second. The light was blinding after coming from a reasonably dark bedroom. And there was no shade to be seen. He forced his eyes to acclimatize, looking around, curiously. A ship. Muck like the one he had met the amazon barbie on. He seemed to be standing on the rail of the deck. There wasn't a pirate flag flying, though. There wasn't a flag at all...
The sound of shouting caught him off guard and he turned, watching with slight shock as a teenage boy started climbing the rope netting that connected to the masts. The pirates... he assumed they were pirates, they dressed like them in tattered shirts and rough looking pants, shouted at the boy, telling him to get down.
Then the man in the trench coat pulled a gun out of his coat, aiming it at the boy. Silva snorted as the kid started to climb down. That was interesting... but he was looking for something else. Something that made Ice so damned interested in the place.
"I'm not giving it back!" The voice made him turn in the other direction, catching sight of a strange female. She was tall, taller than Ice, and had a scar on her face that covered almost the entire left side. She was talking to a shorter female, an argument. Then a cat brushed past her, and she turned, talking to the cat as if he had said something. "What do you mean he's cursed?"
Silva twitched, taking to the air and heading forwards, towards the pirates. Females on ships tended to be more trouble than he wanted to deal with.
"Well... would you look at that..." The tone was amused, a drawl that made Silva pause and wonder if Snake was in this world as well. He turned, raising an eyebrow at the sight of the man wearing the trench coat, watching him. "I knew dragons existed... but hell, in all my travels I've never seen one of you before." He turned, looking at the others. "How much do you think a thing like this would fetch on market, boys?"
"Hmm... depends on how good it tastes." A shorter, brunette male said. Silva almost groaned as the man held up a large cutting knife. "Let's find out, huh?" ******************** TBC...

"No, no, we can't eat it..." The captain replied, looking over Silva for a moment before nodding. "Catch it, boys, we'll sell it on the next island we get to." Silva blinked, scowling darkly as he looked around. The men were large, pirate looking bastards. That didn't bother him. But when they started pulling out water buckets and jars he started to get a little nervous. *******************
Back at Ice's place Aleric was getting an education that he wasn't sure he wanted. He stared blankly at the picture in front of him, then glanced over at Nick. "Silva... reads this?" He finally asked, motioning to the page as if it wasn't obvious.
"Every day. Sometimes more than once!" Nick replied proudly, his eyes devouring the page that Silva had denied him ever since the fire mouse incident. "You should see his other books. They're a lot more detailed."
"Um... right." Aleric muttered, feeling a blush crossing his face. He wasn't sure he should be looking at this sort of thing. Not at all. His face turned even redder as he remembered the time in Mexico. Silva hadn't been looking at the television when Snake had been flashed.
Aleric had.
And that was something he would definitely never forget. ****************
Silva raced through the boat, glancing over his shoulder at the large men chasing him. There was a slight smirk on his face as they failed to catch up, but he didn't call back. He was damn proud of his restraint in that one. He headed upwards, flying through the rope ladders in a jig jag motion. This was pretty good training, actually. Then the sound of a bullet rushed past his head, the air shoving him off course. He started to fall, plummeting towards the wooden deck next to the helm.
He spread his wings, barely catching himself in time, then looked up, raising an eyebrow as the sun was blocked.
"Well... that was easy enough. Somebody get me a jar!" The captain bellowed, his hand wrapping around Silva's body. "And remember to poke holes in the lid this time, would you?" He added with a hint of irritation.
"This is bullsh!t." Silva muttered, chewing on his toothpick. "Let me go, would you?"
"Ahh, that depends, little man. How much gold do you have?"

"I don't have any." Silva growled, twitching as the human touched his chain. "And you damn well can't have that, either." He didn't notice the strange look on the captain's face as he glanced around. "But maybe we can compromise. Let me go and I'll do you a favor sometime in the future. If I ever get back here, that is."
The captain was more focused on the chain than the words, but he nodded. "Deal." He said, letting go of Silva, who took to the air.
"But Cap'n--"
"Let him go. Never met a sprite that speaks English. Or carries a blood stained chain, either. He wouldn't be worth much on the black market." The captain turned, raising his voice. "Hoist the sails, boys! We're ready for docking!"
Silva headed towards the invisible door, torn between wanting to stay and wanting to get the hell out of there. It was bringing back too many memories of the Amazon incident. And damned if he wanted to wind up in a cage again. Besides, something told him that he was missing something important back home... ************
Twenty minutes later found Silva lounging in his zen grarden, staring at the ceiling with one arm draped over the side of the pot. His toothpick was being thoroughly chewed and he was barely paying attention to Aleric. The old man was too damn chat-- "Wait. What did you say?" He asked, turning to look at the other male.
"We're going to be drafted." Aleric repeated, trying not to appear grateful that he had finally gotten that point through. Silva got to his feet in a blink, his expression turning dark... well, darker than usual.
"Like hell I am."
