Bah, traps. Some skinny armed fool with too much time on his pale hands who is being too scared to fight like a real man! Hale is preferring the hitting things to the traps.
PostPosted: Mon Nov 12, 2007 1:42 pm

When Hale speaks, Darastrixen's eyes flash in a dangerous light. Those with an eye for such things notice a clawed hand twitching itself backwards, as though in a struggle not to reach for the dagger that hides just behind it. Although Darastrixen is turned away from him, Hale should be able to easily discern that he has offended Darastrixen on a highly personal level. Where he comes from, traps are seen as a high form of art, a deadly art, and he fancied himself some sort of noble artisian. Hale's comment, although casual in nature, strike against the very core of what it means to be a kobald.

I find no traps... (made by some pale-handed fool indeed!) and I will be opening the door now, much as I would love to break it down instead.

Darastrixen attempts to open the door.

Crap! I forgot to mention how all you see so perfectly. The everywhere you've been to so far has strangely glowed, as if constantly bathed in sunlight((constant daylight spell))

The door seems to be stuck for a second, but the squeals open, as if it had been rusting for ages.
As the door swings open, the stench of mildew & long decay passes through. The room is 100x50 feet wide. In the scattered about the room are what appear to be holes, about 5 feet wide in diameter. Littered about the room are what appear to be the grizzly remains of unidentifiable dead creatures. On the far side of the room is another door.

When I get a chance, I'll scan the map onto here.

Darastrixen knows far better than to speak right now, just in case something amid the remains happens to overheard him. However, he cannot help but think that maybe that foolish necromancer would be of some use now. It certainly helps if Darastrixen does not have to catch arrows that corpses could have instead.

Being invisible, Darastrixen can make no indication to his fellows about what he is about to do. However, the sudden silencing of the steady wingbeats seems to indicate that he has landed, or, more likely, is trying to be quiet again.

Darastrixen enters the room at his constant height of about 20', just to be safe, and scans the room, looking for anything dangerous. This "house" has to be the strangest thing he's ever seen.

"Well now, it would seem that this place is riddled with traps now isn't it?" Robert commented, the dead creatures in the room and the holes in the wall being a strong indication of traps. Well, at least this game him some corpses to work with. Getting to them however would be another story entirely.
"So, seeing as out lizard friend possesses the abilty to fly and thus is mostly out of harms way since he himself can not trigger any traps, who will be the first brave soul to enter this room?" Then he added, almost as an after thought. "Or maybe I might have something..."

You guys are at the bottom of the map. The black circles are the 5 ft wide holes. Oh, & the doors are part of the wall, they just don't look like it on the map. Oh, & I forgot to mention, the ground is rocky & torn up, so it counts as difficult terrain, so you move at half speed unless you have spec. abilities, spells, etc. If you do movements, count the squares you go(in increments of 5 ft(so 10 ft is 2 squares), & post. Example: 5 ft up & 10 ft to the left.

((Darastrixen entered at 1/2 his flying speed into the room so he didn't take penalties to move silently. Thus, he can move 30'. He moves 25'(5 squares) up and looks around, especially at the hole beneath him. Theoretically, he could take another move action to go another 30', but I think we should be taking it one move at a time unless you care to designate otherwise.

ex. if map were labelled with #'s on the top and bottom and ABC's on the sides, begining at the bottom, Darastrixen would be hovering over [E, 5]))

For a moment Hales hand strayed to the haft of his Greataxe, but was once again placed at side in a second. Continuing his train of thought to the end as Hale always does, whether wise or not as he looked into the room Hale muttered to himself.

Hmph. The only traps that were worth remembering to Hale were those ones in the Underground Kobold War-Chapel. Hm, Hale remembers that one where he was flung into a wall, dropped down a 50ft hole onto poisoned spikes, scorched, sprayed with acid, impaled with knives, volleyed with arrows and hit with a granite block. Just by stepping on the wrong floor tile. Now that was a trap! It was taking Hale an hour to be pushing that block out of the hole and escape! Of course, they didn't expect Hale to go through the walls instead, but Hale gives them an A for effort.

Hefting his greataxe, Hale will wait till the Kobold returns, or until something else happens.

Okay, Darastrixen, by my count, & also by how you explained, you're not actually over a hole, you're right between 2 of them, but since you're in the air, yeah, you can still see into them...

Darastrixen, as you gaze into the hole, you see nothing but pitch dark, the hole is enormously deep...

Hale, there's plenty of debris. Not really big, but debris nontheless. So if you chuck it into a hole okay...

Hale, you stoop & pick up what once must have been part of the floor, but is now just a piece of rock. You chuck into the hole.

Everyone, roll a listen check.

((i was counting the doors at the enterance to be a square in the map as well, if that helps. It doesn't really matter anyways though.))

Just looks like some really, really deep holes to me. At least 30', probably much more if it eludes my darkvision. There may be some structural damage on the floor there. I would hate to be one of the landborne ones now, hehe.
