"Well, that doesn't help!" Manta cried, sounding frustrated. "I really don't like Doktor Faust. He's even creepier than Faust VIII was when I first met him, and that topped my personal charts for creepiness."

"That doesn't bother you?" Faust asked. "I mean... the fact that your child, and his children and grandchildren, will have to deal with this curse..." That I have to deal with this curse.

"Why should it bother me?" Doktor Faust asked. "My lover is giving me a son to carry on my family line. I am dying, you know."

"She's a seductive corpse. What's there to like?" Manta asked, shuddering. "I'm sort of afraid to be around her... like I'll wake up tomorrow morning and realize that I'm morally destitute or something. Plus... she drinks blood. If that's not creepy..."

"Forgive me if I find that a bit inconsiderate," Faust said. "I love children, and God knows I wanted some of my own, but... I don't know if I'd want to do what you did, even if I knew how. Nine months with death before you're even born? I mean..."

"There's nothing so wrong with it," said Doktor Faust, as Helen reached for his wrist and lapped up the blood that still seeped from his initial wound.

"I think we should," Manta decided. "We definitely should. But... damn... I'm scared to go near them."

Mephistophiles cleared his throat loudly. "There's a lot wrong with it! You got an undead corpse pregnant... which is the sickest thing I've heard all year... and she's drinking your blood to keep your kid alive? I mean, what kind of person would..."

"I might," Faust VIII said softly. "He's right... there isn't anything so wrong with it. I'd give Eliza my blood if it meant we could have children. Maybe things aren't as bad as they sound. I mean, me and all my forebears seem to have turned out all right..."

"Aside from the fact that you seem to die young and lead miserable lives," Mephistohiles said sarcastically.

"I'm worried to leave them!" Mephistophiles hissed. "I'm afraid I'll come back and find them all having some kind of undead orgy!"

"Mephisto!" Faust VIII cried in horror, but Doktor Faust leaned forward curiously.

"Yeah.... you picked up on that, huh?" Mephistophiles asked dryly. "Regular little soul sucker, isn't she?"

"She's a shade. It's like a ghost, but it's more similar to Faust's usual oversoul. She's got a body, as Doktor Faust knows VERY well, and it's difficult, but he managed to somehow get her with child. But unfortunately, like I said, she's a SHADE. Any life she has right now is borrowed, and any life she gives someone else, say, a son, will have to be stolen."

"No kidding... do you know that he was born dead? All the Fausts are. After two hours, they "wake up" and start to cry, but it's a creepy existence. One of the reasons they have that delightful skin tone, and an even better one for them to be astoundingly gifted Necromancers."

"It's so easy, once you're used to it," Doktor Faust said. "In only two more months, my happiness will be complete...all thanks to the efforts and pains of my lover. It's just that..."

"Just that what?" Faust asked, feeling the urge again to take off running.

"Just that all the blood I've given her has been weak. That means that our child will be weak. If only... if only the blood held more power.... like, oh, maybe yours."
