F. de l'O., exactly.

But hey, Kay had to make up something to explain why it was O.G., not P.o.t.O.!

Well, not really. Because, as I said, it wouldn't have been either. And it's not like we see him writing the notes in her book.

"And what was in the trees?" - E
"Birds" - C
"Did you see any birds?" - E
"No, I did not see any birds." - C

from Gaston Leroux's novel

You should see the Charles Dance TV miniseries, Icey. Give you a whole different perspective on that forest of his. It's kind of funny.

That scene popped into my head when I saw the word "forest".

Quote:
Night-time sharpens, heightens each sensation
Darkness wakes and stirs imagination
Silently the senses abandon their defenses
Helpless to resist the notes I write
For I compose the Music of the Night

Slowly, gently, might unfurls its splendor
Grasp it, sense it, tremulous and tender
Hearing is believing, music is decieving
Hard as lightning, soft as candlelight
Dare you trust the Music of the Night?

Close your eyes -
For your eyes will only tell the truth
And the truth isn't what you want to see
In the dark it is easy to pretend
That the truth is what it ought to be

Softly, deftly, music shall caress you
Hear it, feel it, secretly possess you
Open up your mind, let your fantasies unwind
In this darkness which you know you cannot fight,
The darkness of the Music of the Night!

Close your eyes -
Start a journey through a strange new world!
Leave all thoughts of the life you knew before!
Close your eyes and let music set you free
Only then can you belong to me…

Floating, falling, sweet intoxication
Touch me, trust me, savor each sensation
Let the dream begin, let your darker side give in
To the power of the music that I write,
The power of the Music of the Night!

You alone can make my song take flight
Help me make the Music of the Night!

Well, you can't expect me to pick just one.
Hem, if there are any mistakes, it's because I just typed out the lyrics by listening to the song. And my memory may take the best of me at 3:30am. sweatdrop

What version is this? It's not from the 2004 movie? Is it from one of the many plays?

It's from a promo video that MC did. I personally think it's the best version.

I like all of Erik's lines in ALW... But from that, my favorite thing to listen to, of all time, would be that little choking noise Raoul makes when Erik ropes him to the gate. whee
It's like... "Hyuack!" But not, at the same time.

I also like the "Great Booby" line from Leroux... My friend Kate always calls people boobies, so I stopped and looked at it again, and only one thing was on my mind: Kate had somehow interfered with my book. O.o

From 'Phantom':
"Are you sure such a small jar would contain me, madam?" ~Erik to the Shah's wife and/or mother.
I was just like "W00T!"

Erik: DA-RO-GA!

:I don't want the world to see me:

Haha! I love that quote too!

:'Cause I don't think that they'd understand:

That's in the Leroux novel, correct? I would've remembered it if I had read it, I think. Something as... human as that, I guess is the word I'm looking for.

I don't exactly remember that being from anything I've seen. Elaborate?

I think I remember hearing that somewhere. It has to be the 2004 movie. It's the only one I can reasonably associate with that quote.

No, Erik calls the Persian "Daroga" but the quote is from the 1991(?) Rosen and Schierhorn version, with David Staller as Erik. I like it because Erik is about to disappear before Daroga's eyes and he just draws out the word.

"Our Don Juan must lose some weight. It's not healthy in a man of Piangi's age."
- Erik, 2004 movie

I crack up everytime I hear that line. The flute after the line seems to be mocking Piangi. So great.
