"It's alright... I don't mind... It's been a while since I have had an adventure like this... dangerous though it may be..." Nightingale said to Kryss.

Then she thought she saw something move. A shadow in the water... but it was gone now. Perhaps it was just her imagination. She looked around and tried to feel her surroundings for something strange but nothing. Definitely her imagination. The drip drop of water here in the sewers was making her edgy... She continued on following Kryss...

Sundavar surfaced the tip of his hideous head from the water for a moment. The female of the group interested him: females were often tastier than males, their bones and skin softer and easier to feast on. He loved to hear their screams as he toyed with them. He inhaled her scent, his nostrils flaring.

He heard breathing that did not belong to anyone with him. He heard the almost silent rippling of sewer water and looked down. Perhaps it was just their own movements. Still, he looked around, eyes searching for what he couldn't see but was almost certain was there. Surely that smell was the demon...Or maybe just its victims as they decayed here below the city where no one would know. Was that an outline of something or a trick of the light? There, in the corner of his eye, was that the demon?

The boy's memories had made him jumpy, and now he had to look at everything that moved straight on to reassure himself it was really there.

Entering another's mind, especially a child's mind, was like taking a drug, and each time it was a different trip. Sometimes it was fun, and sometimes it just hurt. It always hurt, but there wasn't always that happiness and innocence to drown it. It had been that way with Andrew, and he knew that the memories that had flashed through his mind would be returning more slowly soon until he knew every last detail of the child's life. His mind was just starting to process what had been poured into it, and that caused his edgy behaviour. He wanted to be out of the sewers before the memories started comming back, because once they started, he didn't know how to stop them.

But now was not the time to think about such things. Now was the time to find out who's unfamiliar breathing he thought he heard. He stopped and blinked the phantom shadows out of his eyes, turned slowly, carefully scanning every inch of their surroundings and seeing nothing but a faint outline that could have been anything. It blended in so nicely, so dark and mostly underwater, but there was sound from that direction; a sound he did not recognize. Maybe, he thought, if he watched it long enough, it would show itself. As a figment of his imagination, possibly, or maybe the demon, or maybe just a piece of sewage, but he would not turn away until he knew for sure.

"What is it? Did you see something?" Nightingale asked Kryss when he suddenly stopped.

She scanned the surroundings once again for anything unusual. The hair at the nape of her neck started prickling... Something or someone is looking at her...
