"Okay!" Hellis giggled, throwing his arms in the air and grinning, "Now you're with me all the time, hm?" He giggled again and smooched Ethan's cheek.

Blinking away the tears quickly, the air crackling a little with static, Ethan nodded hard.
"Alright," he said, smiling and knuckling his eyes roughly. Hellis forgave him. No use dwelling, right? Right. "Okay."

Hellis leaned in again and hugged the poor young man.
"Don't cry..." he said and then stood, offering a hand to Ethan.
"C'mon, or he'll think I beat you."

"I can't believe I didn't think of this sooner."
Ethan was fashioning two bracelets out of electrical tape, sticking them unceremoniously to his wrists. The static that had plagued him was already being wrestled under control, though the occasional sneeze did still make the lights flicker. Feeling extremely pleased with himself - even if the new accessories alongside the scars and rosary made him look rather like a wannabe scene-kid emo - Ethan was satisfied. He sat on the porch, playing with the remainders of the tape and wrapping it boredly around his fingers, taping them together.

And then came Emmy. Oh, Christ, Emmy. She ran down the driveway and lunged at Ethan, again half-naked and again squeezing him far, far too hard.

Grateful for the electrical tape that spared Emmy a shock as Ethan struggled to contain and collect himself, the teen wheezed for breath and looked heavenward on instinct.
"H-hello, Emmy," he said, blushing vividly as per usual.

"Ethan! Ethan!" she yelped. After all, this was her first time home since the whole incident.
"I thought you died! I was so afraid!" Huh! Will ya lookit that.

Ethan blinked briefly. The last time he and Emmy had spoken, her language had been decidedly more limited. Hmm.
"I...well. If you want to be technical," he said, then paused. "Erm...never mind."
With the usual push of effort, he looked down at Emmy, then jerked his head up so that he could remain eye-level. He gave a shy grin, adjusting his glasses.
"Really, Emmy, I'm alright. See? Good as new, actually."

Emmy smiled and released the poor boy, sitting straight and drawing a finger down his jawline.
"I am glad! Big Man said you were hurt, and Liam had to fix you. It usually is not good if Liam has to fix things."

Shivering slightly at the touch, though hardly due to discomfort, Ethan cleared his throat and his head before grinning again slightly.
"It really wasn't," he said, trying to ignore the phantom pain that flared up in memory. He glanced involuntarily at his stomach anyway, and wrinkled his nose in distaste. "I won't say I've had worse, but I got better so I suppose it doesn't matter."
Scratching at his neck awkwardly, he gave a brief curse as his rosary got inexplicably tangled in the cheap shot-bead chain around his neck, and blushed as he tried to loosen it.

Emmy reached forward and pulled the necklace up.
"Here, let me." And then she noticed it. The familiar, sparkly green of her solidified saliva.
"Awwww!" Busted.

Feeling like a complete imbecile, Ethan just blushed brighter.
"Well. Um. I...I."
Crap. He had to say something.
"Hnnngh."
Alright. Something else.
"I didn't want to lose it."
Good gods. Something else.
"Since you gave it to me."
Alright, good enough. Ethan sighed, blushing so bright and hot he was struck by the macabre notion that blood should have been weeping from his eyes.

Emmy just untangled the strings and placed her cool palms to Ethan's cheeks.
"Do not be embarrassed. I think it is..." She paused a moment, thinking hard.
"Nice. No..."
Ah, God. That word. She'd only heard it twice.
"...sweet!" She grinned.

Ethan brightened despite himself. Sweet? Really? Did she think he was sweet, or just that he'd kept her gift? The brief, unexpected jab of happiness faded. Maybe she only thought he'd kept it because it was valuable, even if that hadn't been the case. He'd...Ethan paused. Why had he kept it? It wasn't as if it was some kind of lover's token he'd vowed on his soul to never part with, right? Right? There'd been no soul-vowing involved, so far as he remembered.
Realizing he'd stayed silent way too long, Ethan yanked himself back into the present again and managed to nod randomly.
"Mm."
Brilliant conversationalist, Ethan was not.

Emmy not only giggled, but allowed herself to laugh full-out, yet another habit she had clearly gained from someone else, judging by the way she threw her head back.
