Jack "Toodles" McKain Jack could feel his lungs get heavier and heavier, making it hard to breathe. The stab wound was located in his abdomen, just where the end of his right lung would be. Beads of sweat were forming on his forehead from his body's despiration to cool itself down, despite the ice that was now placed around his neck, armpits, and between his thighs, where critical hot-spots would be. His eyes rolled to the back of his head and he lost conciousness. "Jack? C'mon wake up, Jack!" One of the nurses encouraged, rubbing her knuckles against his sternum to try to wake him up, but he was unresponsive. "We've got to get this blood drained," The nurse reported and started to get the equipment needed. The nurse then turned to Kael and Finn. "We need you out of the room at this time. Just wait in the waiting room and we'll let you know when he's stabilized," she told them and hurried them out of the room.

.:Cosmo Donald Finnigan:. Finn looked wildly around the room, looking at the doctors. Was no one going to tell him anything? "What's happening? What's happening?" he kept asking, trying to get an answer out of the stony-faced doctors. Then, all of the sudden, things started happening, he heard the nurse speaking to Jack urgently and then speak to the doctors. "What's happening? Jack? What's happening?" Finn was starting to get frantic, he tried to see his friend but it was hopeless, the medical professionals were crowding around his friend and someone was trying to make Finn leave the room. The teen struggled to see what was going on, pushing against the nurse's arms to no avail. Finn was shut out. He leaned against the wall and sunk to rest his head against his knees. Finn took a couple of deep breaths, he was trying to figure out what was happening. Wait, for what? What was he supposed to be waiting for? His friend to die? What was going on? Finn looked up and Saw Kael and Nick standing in the hallway with him. "What's going to happen, Nick?" he asked in a quiet voice. "What's happening?" Finn was starting to choke up. He took some deep breaths to keep his tears at bay so that he didn't look weak in front of his friends.

 Kael went to help Finn but was roughly shoved against a wall.She slugged the doctor in the face,her cheek bleeding profusely.She huffed and glared. "I'm not leaving until he's completely healthy"She growled cracking her neck around stubbornly.Kael was then hauled out into the hallway by four men.Two held her arms and two held her legs as she frantically tried to squirm free."JAAACK"she screamed,just then a nurse jabbed a needle into Kael who yelped with pain,her eyes began to droop."Finn"was the last thing she said before the needle knocked her out.Her limp sleeping body carefully placed against the wall of the hallway,people staring at her in awe.Her head faced the floor and her legs sprawled out her arms just flopped onto her lap.

Jack "Toodles" McKain It wasn't until several hours later (Because we need to get things going again) when a doctor came back out, holding a clipboard in his arm. "Miss. Parry and Mr. Finnigan?" he asked for their names, but already knew who they were. "We have Jack stabilized. He had internal bleeding in the lungs and his diaphram was punctured. We had to go into surgery to repair it but at least for a while he's going to have difficulty breathing. We've tried calling his parents but it seems they do not speak English so we'll have to wait until we can get a hold of a Translator. He should be waking up if you want to go see him," he offered.

.:Cosmo Donald Finnigan:.Finn saw Kael, lying on the ground, propped up against the wall and rushed over. He knelt next to his friend and clapped in fron tof her face a couple of times, trying to make her come to. "Kael! Kael! Wake up!" he said in a panicked voice. "I'm not joking, wake up this instant, that's an order!" Finn said, trying a more stern voice, seeing if she would respond better. Finn continued trying a kaleidescope of different voices, seeing if she would wake up for he didn't know how long. Finn finally sighed and sat next to his friend, upset at his circumstances, two friends down in less than one hour, it was almost too horrible to fathom. "Kael," Finn said, trying once more in a gentle voice, "Wake up, it's time to wake up now. Rise and shine, it's the start of a new day." Finn thought that he saw Kael's eyes flutter a tiny bit. Whether or not this was his imagination or not, he didn't know. All that he did know was that it was the only progress that he was making, real or imagined, so he continued chatting with his friend, holding a one-sided conversation until she came to.
Finn sat in the waiting room, his head in resting in his hands. He sighed and took out his phone, remembering his cousin stranded at Robin's Aunt's house. Finn looked at a boring analog clock that read 3:30. Finn punched a message out on the tiny keypad, that read:
Hey Cuz,
I'm still at the hospital, haven't heard anything about Jack for a while, sorry about tonight. I'll make it up to you tomorrow, well, I guess today. Say "hey" to Robin and Missy for me.

Finn slid his phone back into his pocket and sat back into the uncomfortable waiting room chair. He had passed the stage of pacing the waiting room up and down and he merely wanted someone to appear and tell him that everything was going to be alright. Either that or wake him up from this horrible nightmare. Finn looked at the door frame intently, thinking, 'Okay, someone's going to appear, now! No...now! Now!' Finn was surprised that on his third try a doctor appeared and asked for his name. He blushed a tiny bit at the mention of his last name but paid rapt attention to what the medical professional was saying. Finn rushed into the small room, his friend laying on an uncomfortable-looking bed. Finn's previously attractive friend wasn't looking very good but Finn put on a grin when he saw Jack alive. "What's up Toodles?" he asked cheerily, as if there was no constant beeping of the heart monitor or a tube down the boy's nose giving him nutrients.

Kael felt herself begin to come around.Her head ached terribly as she propped one arm on her knee-cap while she rubbed the bridge of her nose gently with the other.She groaned a bit in pain as she struggled to stand up and fight her dizziness.The doctor came over and helped her into Jack's room.She stumbled a bit and kept herself up by leaning on a shelf.She rolled her eyes around to fix her eyesight and smiled at Jack."Hey bud"She said sounding soft and sweet.Her eyes were a tad dull from her drowziness,but that was expected as much.She leaned against the wall and crossed her arms.Her whacky grin still plastered upon her face.

.:Cosmo Donald Finnigan:.Finn turned towards the door as Kael came hobbling in, supported by a doctor. "How is he?" Finn asked the doctor, sliding a cream-coloured chair towards Jack's bed. "Here Kael, you can sit," he said to the woozy-looking girl, still looking at the doctor, trying to read the man, testing the waters. "How long will he have to stay here?" Finn assumed a business-like tone when addressing the medical professional, not wanting the man to think that the hysterical teen that he had presented a few hours ago was who he really was and that no details were to be spared because the elder gentleman felt that the teen couldn't handle them.
Against his wishes, Finn's mind wandered and showed him camera angles from the ceiling, as if the frame that was being shown on the silver screen of his head was being borrowed from a security camera, exemplifying the isolation and helplessness that he, the protagonist, felt. No music swelled in the teen's mind, the frame was silent save for the constant metronomic beeping of the heart moitor and the drip-dripping of a clear liquid from the large plastic bladder to the thin tube, to Jacks' nose. Yes, it was a dismal picture that was being painted, but Finn tried not to dwell too much on the scene being played out in his head. He continued staring at the doctor in his white coat, blending in with the surroundind walls of the tiny, windowless cell.

Jack "Toodles" McKain After the doctor was able to get Kael settled he looked at Finn, who was bombarding him with questions. "He'll have to stay here for at least a few days until he's strong enough to travel again. But because he seems to be healthy and has a strong immune system, then it shouldn't be too hard for him to recover. But from where he was stabbed, he'll always have problems breathing when he does strenuous excersizes, similar to asthma when running. We were able to get a translator for his parents and they're on their way now. He should be waking up soon. I'll be around in a minute," he finished and walked out of the room to see to some other patients, leaving the three friends to themselves.

.:Cosmo Donald Finnigan:.Finn listened intently to the doctor's words, trying to find some hidden meaning in them. The doctor left the room before Finn could hit him with another salvo of questions, but he filed them away for now, content with getting at least some information. 'Asthma? What about his surfing?' Finn thought uneasily as he turned back to his two friends and gave them a fake but broad smile. "Everything is looking good then," he said to Kael, but trying more to convince himself of that than Kael. "How are you feeling, hun?" he asked the girl, really looking at her for the first time since she woke up. the girl looked tired. 'She should be at home,' Finn thought, sadly, still smiling on the outside.

Kael smiled and stretched tall."I'm fine,Findella"She said hoping she could get a small smile from him,his question seemed more like he was convincing himself rather than her.She walked over to Finn and hugged him,rubbing his back."He'll be better in no time Finn"she said a smile creeping on her face,she knew Jack was a tough cookie,It would take alot more than a mere cut to count Jack out.She then snapped out of her train of thought and realised she was still hugging Finn.She immediately let go. "Er...sorry Finn"She said rubbing the back of her head embarassed.

.:Cosmo Donald Finnigan:.Finn smiled at Kael, more genuinely this time, as she addressed him by his nickname. Finn stiffened slightly as Kael hugged him, he didn't want Jack to get the wrong idea about him and Kael. There was no denying the fact that there was some sort of connection between the two of them, but Finn didn't want their playful banter to be taken out of context. As Kael rubbed his back, Finn started to relax, it was nice to just take a breath and not worry about Jack or Kraven or anyone else but himself for a short minute. Finn took a deep breath and leaned into Kael's embrace as she comforted him. "Yeah," he agreed, not 100 percent convinced of it, but more so than when he said it. There was something about the fact that Kael was willing to verbalize the hope of a full recovery that suddenly made it sound attainable. Maybe Finn wouldn't have to worry about his friend after all, maybe there weren't going to be any repercussions to the fact that he didn't stop his car except that Jack would have another cool scar to brag about. Maybe.
Finn looked at the embarrassed Kael pull away from him, and said, "It's okay, it was, it was actually soothing, no need to apologize." Finn smiled warmly at Kael, trying to reassure her that everything was fine between them, that he didn't mind the physical contact, that he actually enjoyed it.

Kael looked up,her face asking the question.. Really?."Um,I'm glad i could sooth you"She said in a small mumble.She kicked her toe on the floor feeling like she still was out of line hugging him.She had felt him stiffen and then embrace her hug,but she couldn't help but feel something creeping up inside of her.She immediately snapped out of that wierd thought and changed back to her normal self.She stared at Jack knowing he'd get better,she just wish he'd wake up so she could show Finn,she wasn't lying and that he really was getting better.She awaited for Jack to open his eyes.But nothing was happening,she never doubted her words.She just wanted Finn to be ok,never mind her own self.She had always been the Martyr,to be the one to sacrifice herself for the good and wellbeing of another person,to sacrifice her comfort for another.She had never known why,her only reason was that she was just 'Born that way' .

Jack "Toodles" McKain Jack could feel voices speaking around him, but he couldn't open his eyes, as if they were stapled together and if he tried then they would rip open. (( 0.0 @ random gothness))What's happened? I don't want to wake up. I just want to sleep. He could feel himself start to come to, but again his eyes were not cooperating with him and refused to open. He felt a dull pain in his stomach and his head felt hot. Did he just go surfing and wipe out? He did remember surfing at Newport once. The surfing there was horrible but he usually used it as a last resort. What are those voices? Where are they coming from? They felt so familiar to him, but at the same time they sounded like voices from people you haven't seen since you were four years old. Jack suppressed an urge to cough, but a small one escaped, which was enough to make him start opening his eyes with difficulty.
His vision was blurry, but as he was able to open his eyes better his vision focused and cleared, seeing the two figures that were Kael and Finn. "Hey, guys," he managed to say with a raspy voice. That alone felt exhausting! But he wasn't one for showing much weakness. He tried to sit up from where hey lay, but the once dull pain in his stomach sharpened and forced him back down.

.:Cosmo Donald Finnigan:.Finn smiled gently at Kael as she mumbled a response. She was obviously still embarrassed and worried about Jack. Finn tilted his head slightly to the right, giving Kael a questioning look. He wanted to make her feel better about the situation, make her smile and laugh. Finn wished at that moment that he had an ultimate remote control of time to turn back the clock to that afternoon in the airport when the day was full of hope and happiness.
Finn was lost in his thoughts, recapping and reliving the best parts of the day when he heard a weak voice greet him. Finn's face lit up when he saw that it wasn't a doctor or a ghost, but Jack. "Hey Toodles," Finn said, using his friend's nickname. Finn walked over closer to his friend's bed. He couldn't recall a better feeling than the one that he was feeling at that moment, his friend was going to be okay after all. "Don't sit up," Finn said when his friend tried to move, tempted to push him down, back onto the bed but resisting the temptation. "So, what's up?" he asked, making a feeble attempt at small talk and some normality.

Nick had dissmissed himself from the scene and was standing a small distance from Finn, He was going through his gear,Then put it all back on after a few beeps on his radio "92,reqesting assittance on the 7199 call",The call for help was dispatched. Anxiety kicked in as he pulled the pants up and layered on his coats,Then put on his cloth mask,helmet,Then gas mask,He rearranged the air tubes and twisted on his air supply connection, it finally making a clicking sound to signal it was airtight. He checked the air pressure and radio. Then he walked to Finn "See ya Later,Man, Duty calls." He said and waved bye to Keal,Finn,And Jack. He waited a breif moment for a goodbye,Knowing he had to leave.
