All of my professors at school went nuts when I told them about it. I tried to ask the chemistry department if I could use the lab to transfer the mercury into a safer container, and they told me they'd have to have a hazmat team seal the room if I brought it in.

They're paranoid. So am I, which is why I wanted to play with it in a lab. It's more dangerous to ride in a car then to play with mercury.
