"Mephisto?" Faust asked quietly, hurrying to catch up with the devil. "I want to know something."
"How to get poop off of your shoes?"
"No... what would the world be like, if everyone was like me? If everyone had no soul?"
Mephisto stopped for a moment. "Well... everyone would be like you. Precisely. Is that a good thing? In some ways, yes. In other ways, no."
"Tell me why," Faust said, his strangely empty eyes unexpectedly earnest.
"Would you fight in a war? Would you disagree with someone violently? Would you take money that didn't belong to you?"
"No. It wouldn't occur to me."
"You're right... and if the world was like that, some things would be better. But, you don't laugh, you don't cry, you don't get upset or overjoyed. You don't hate and you don't love. You hold no passions dear, and you have nothing you can think to live for. Do you?"
"I don't," Faust admitted. "But that's what I said. To get Lucifer to take my soul. Was it true then?"
"It was never true. You've always had people who loved you. Now... now you don't even know what that word means. Even if you can define it, you don't know."
Faust turned away.

Netsubo watched the two men talk while trying to get away from excretements,"How come we haven't seen any souls yet?"She wondered.

Yuki jumped, looking down at the messes they'd all been unconsciously averting their eyes from. Hands and feet were sticking up out of the muck.

Netsubo closed her eyes for a moment, then looked straight into the air, trying to avoid looking at them,"How much farther is the door?"She asked, voice shaking slightly.

"That's what they were like in life," Mephisto corrected her. "They're being punished for that. Their punishments are the same: basically, they have to eternally roll giant boulders and smash them into each other."

Mephistophiles yanked Faust back as two boulders rammed into each other, almost crushing him.

Yuki nodded, almost as pale as Faust's natural skin tone.
"Same goes for you," Mephisto said, grabbing Faust's sleeve and holding it tightly. "You've lost your self preservation. Did you notice how you wouldn't have jumped back by yourself?"

Netsubo held Yuki's hand, ready to pull him away from any crushing rocks.The rocks were everywhere. They were huge and could kill any unsuspecting person.
