For the first time since he'd been called into battle, Raichu looked rattled. He couldn't recall a time where he'd battled an Arbok, or one that was that intimidating, at the very least. Gulping, the Electric Pokemon took a few steps back, but they weren't enough as suddenly a shower of needles came from above, and after a second or so, Raichu realized the Arbok had used Poison Sting. He winced as dozens of the needles struck him, many of which dug into him. He quickly yanked out as many as he could, hoping to avoid becoming poisoned, and all the while still retreating. He quickly looked back to Surge, who closed his eyes and nodded once. Raichu knew what that meant, and as he tore the last of the poisoned needles from his thigh, electricity flared from his cheeks and his long tail cut through the air as he generated a blast of electricity. He knew from experience that his Shock Wave would not miss, and he grinned as the electric attack was launched. Finally, an opponent who could actually be shocked!

Kilik skidded to a halt as he turned the corner that would take him northbound towards Cerulean. His eyes looked off in the direction of the Gym. Was she still angry? Nah, she couldn't be. She didn't hit him when he kissed her the previous night. Running his fingers through his hair, Kilik began to pedal once more. With one hand tight on the handlebar, the other skimmed over his collection of Pokeballs, bumping over each one slowly. In his mind, he debated whether or not he would release someone for a bit of company. Ultimately, he decided against it.

Another turn to the right, and once more to the left, and he was up through the security clearance gate that seperated Cerulean City from Saffron. The time spent inside was short, but the feeling of the air conditioning on his face felt like an eternity. Thankful that his Mach Bike was very easy to pedal, not to mention very fast, he moved up the path to the blue city. He could see the top of the Gym over the hill. "Should I...?" he whispered. He stopped, planting a foot on the ground. Granted, it would be an amazing chance for Elekid to grow, he would worry about that later. At the moment, his current priority was evolving his Lairon. He kept going forward.

Keegan smiled, not even bothering to tell Loki to try and dodge. His experience with Wattson had taught him about Shock Wave's reliability, and even though there had been no vocal call for the attack, Keegan recognized it by the way the electrical energy seemed to home in on its target. Loki growled as the attack coursed through him, but he quickly shrugged it off, once again hissing at the small mouse before him.

Keegan wasn't sure how much longer Raichu would be able to continue, and he touched his chin lightly before issuing his next order. "Sludge Bomb," he told Loki, who replied with a fanged grin, flicking his tongue in excitement. The Arbok reared up once more, swaying on the spot before he opened his mouth once more and released a large glob of sticky, highly toxic sludge.

"Raichu! Move!" Surge barked, suddenly feeling pretty sure that he'd be awarding this trainer a Thunder Badge very shortly. The poisoning effects of Loki's first attack were now starting to work their magic, and Raichu felt achy, feverish and tired, as though he'd come down with a sudden case of influenza. His reflexes weren't as sharp as they normally were, although the mouse managed to avoid taking a direct hit. His legs burned painfully from the venomous goo, and he grit his teeth, eying his trainer once more in hopes of eking out a win. Surge nodded, twice this time, and thrust his arm forward. Raichu turned back towards Loki once more, trying to pretend like there wasn't any poison slowly sapping him of his stamina, and let more electricity build up in his body before he released it, aiming a rather powerful Thunderbolt at the Arbok.

This time, Keegan tried to warn Loki about the oncoming attack, but to no avail. The tall Arbok seemed to act like a lightning rod of sorts, and the Thunderbolt was drawn straight to him. Loki groaned and squeezed his eyes shut, doing his best to shrug off the painful blanket of electricity that had wrapped around his body.

"Come on, Loki! Hang in there, buddy!" Keegan called, raising a clenched fist. "We can do this! Crunch attack!" He gave the order, knowing full well that Raichu would likely counter with a Mega Punch, but he was willing to take that risk. He didn't know Raichu had been poisoned, but he did know that Loki was still in good shape to win this one.

The large cobra hissed once more, a few remaining static bolts crackling across his body as he lunged forward, fangs bared with the full intent on sinking them into his target.

"Lily! Vine Whip!" Miharu called, pointing at the grey Machop once more. The small Bulbasaur sent both of her strong vines lashing out, frowning as the Machop deflected one with its arms, even though the other struck it solidly across the midsection. This proved to only anger the fighter even further, and it quickly dashed towards the offending Bulbasaur, striking her with another well-aimed Karate Chop.

The young trainer turned her sights quickly towards the Pokemon Center, worried about what condition Aska was in. The Pidgey had taken a massive hit, and Miharu couldn't get the image of Aska flailing on the ground helplessly out of her head. She grit her teeth, knowing that right now, Lily needed her, and the girl set her Pokemon on the attack yet again.

Raichu's high-pitched shrieks echoed through the gym, and as Keegan had predicted, the small tawny mouse made a move to counterattack with its Mega Punch. However, Loki's last attack had been more than enough to finish him, and the brilliant, glowing energy that had started to form on Raichu's paw faded as quickly as it had started to build up, and the exhausted Raichu slumped to the ground, his eyes shut tightly and his little body shuddering from both the poison, and the energy expended during the battle. Lt. Surge heaved a heavy sigh, and bowed his head. He scratched the side of his nose before recalling his fainted partner, and turned to glance at Maven and Kasiya before looking towards Glen, who'd already raised the proper flag. "Victory goes to the challenger! Congratulations!" the gangly youth called out, giving Keegan a nod of approval.

"Yep, I hate to admit it, but you beat me," Surge said, a grin making its way onto his face. Glen made his way towards the gym leader, handing him a small, golden-yellow box with the Thunder Badge insignia on the top of it. Surge took it, and beckoned for Keegan to come towards him so he could properly hand out the boy's rewards.

Crenu sighed. He knew that he was getting all he could out of his pokemon, but he was not happy with it. It was still not enough power, he wanted more, much more. His pokemon needed a little break now, he could rain them some more but then they would be much to tired for the gym battle and so he decided against it.

"Alright guys, come back for now. This isn't a joke, so I want you thinking about only victory. Today we will win out gym battle, and it will be a decisive win, not at all like the last one."

The red return beam washed over his pokemon as they returned to their respective pokeballs. Crenu clipped the balls onto his belt and turned to walk further into the city. People who had been watching this display of pokemon tactics and battling mistook him for a street performer and started cheering loudly. Crenu hadn't even noticed the people that had gathered and looked at them with interest and disgust at the same time. Before he could say anything, Crenu was showered with coins and small bills from the crow that slowly dissipated as the money became a significant little lump. Crenu picked it up and grinned, putting it into his pocket. a clattering sound came almost exactly after he put the change into his coat pocket and realized that there were holes in the pocket lining.

"Damn. Stupid coat. Hmm..."

He picked the money back up again and frowned as he put it in his pants pocket. He hated having things in his pants pockets and looked around feverishly. This was Goldenrod, there had to be a store near by that sold clothes. It was no surprise that he found such a store near by, almost right next to the gym. it's all about location after all.

Mag had seen enough. If anyone else was going to battle that day he didn't really care. After Keegan's match he had picked up all the informatin he needed for his challenge. Kasiya had mentioned something about a rematch, but that would mean non-regulation pokemon so it didn't really matter. Mag slipped outside with
Linalee at his heels sticking like a shadow.

"So where are we headed?" She asked. "Are you heading over to your grandparents to train?"
Mag looked back at his companion. "Man you stick like glue when you want to. But yeah, I was thinking I, we'd, head over to the Sevii Islands and get some down to earth training from my Granpda."

"Why hey there cutie! I see our have chose our nice little store here in Goldenrod! How can i help you hon?"

Some over dressed, over energetic, simply over the top woman what seemed to ome out of nowhere pounced on Crenu the moment he entered the store. She looked at his through closed eyes subbing her hands, leaning over a little to close for Crenu's comfort.

"Uh, I need a coat?"

"OOOOO! We have a lovely selection. Why there are long ones, short ones, tight ones, baggy ones, half coats, sleeveless, reversible..."

The woman babbled on and on about things Crenu knew nothing about. He was starting to get angry as she continued to talk and talk and talk.

"I recommend the stripped coat. My sister got one the other day and she looks fabulous! But maybe not. This other guy came in the other day, and let me tell yo-"

"Enough! I simply don't care woman, my God! Tell me, where to you stash all the bodies of the people who have actually died listening to you go on and on and on!? I just want a oat, one that's just like the one I have now! Can you help me or not lady!?"

"O-oh my. Hon, you've got some spice in you! Oh, that's delicious! I've got just the thing hon, wait right there."

Crenu almost fell over from confusion. What just happened? Whatever it was, it worked. The woman came back prancing with a beautiful jacket in her hands. It looked similat to his old one, but his one was jet black with golden trimm and two golden shoulder pads. It was perfect, and with it the woman carried a pair of black pants and shoes. She gave them to him and winked as she pointed to the changing room. Crenu shivered at this, but took the clothes anyway. After about a minuet, he kicked the stall door open and walked out, letting the coat rest on his shoulders with his hands in his pockets rather than in the sleeves like a total bad a**.

"Oh hon, that is totally you all the way. I love the empty sleeve thing, just looks right. You have to leave with that on, I'm gonna throw away your old ratty clothes. For you, I'll give a discount. let's see, that will be..."

She winked at him and entered something into a computer. Instantly a price came up and Crenu nearly fainted. He had exactly that much extra from the "street performance" and ended up breaking even. He left the store sad, the woman smiling and waving as he walked. With his hands in his pockets and his sleeves just dangling behind him, he looke dlike a total bad a**. But unknown to all who saw him, he was quite sad.

"My little fortune... damn."

Maven had to bite her lip as she nearly screamed with the Raichu. As the win was declared she gripped her pad as she jumped and cheered for Keegan. The excitement had surprised her as she landed on her feet. She wasn't expecting to be so emotionally and mentally into the match.

Her face turned red as she realized she must've called attention to herself and she started to put her pad away. She had jumbled her back pack with the jump so she placed the pad on the seat as she organized her pack to avoid any looks that may have went her way.

It was true; the small pink kitten had let her excitement get the better of her, and she'd been wandering a bit too far for her companion's liking. As she turned to face her equally pink friend, the Skitty felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand up, and her ears slowly flattened as she realized that they were not alone. Very slowly, Allegra crept towards Twinkers, perhaps hoping that if she moved silently enough, she'd go unnoticed, although as she found herself by the Cleffa's side, she came to realize this wasn't the case. A pair of shining eyes glared down at them from high in the rafters, and they were far more intimidating than those of the Rattata had been. "Uh oh..." stammered the small kitten, her fluffy tail quivering with fright.

The red-eyed Pokemon glared imperiously at the intruding duo. Without calling out it leapt from the rafters and commenced a dive attack, wings spread wide. It was quite obviously aiming for the smaller and slower Cleffa and Twinkers reacted to this by shrieking and covering her eyes , her body scrunched up a little as if trying to hide. This Pokemon was scary!

Meanwhile, Akane glanced up from her furious note-taking and, not seeing Twinkers anywhere near the book laden table she was working on, concern began to grow in her heart. Where could she have gotten too?

Needless to say, M.A. was rather surprised when Little Guy zoomed by just centimeters away from the side of her face; she would've spooked considerably if the lights hadn't turned on just moments later, revealing the familiar Natu and the battle scene. Man, was she glad to finally be able to see what was going on -- sight was fickle, but she depended on it.

This Scyther was unnaturally savage, and the battle didn't seem to bode very well for Sting at the very moment. It seemed the Scyther was able to parry nearly every one of Sting's Fury Attacks, and it had devilish speed to boot. Pray tell, what made the Bug-type so furious, so viscious? From what she knew, they'd done nothing to provoke it (except perhaps intrude). Rather, it seemed to relish the savor of a battle, of the prospect of beating the crap out of whatever it wanted to.

But no, the brunette believed in Sting, she had to. He had a warrior's spirit, and something else that the Scyther didn't have very much of -- control. She was sure he'd pull through. . . Well, to be totally honest, she did have an inkling of doubt (being human and all), but she battled that off loyally. Sting would pull through, somehow.

Daemyn, meanwhile, was watching rather restlessly. He wanted to fight so, so badly. . . but this wasn't his fight. Still, being denied a Gym Battle meant he had a whole lot of pent-up jitteriness and energy.

Crenu made his way back to the gym in his new duds, rather content with the way he looked. But there were more pressing matters at the moment, more than looking good and having no money. The gym was as dark as before, and it seemed as though noone was there or would be back anytime soon. Angry with being denied a gym battle for the second time in about two days Crenu was ready to smash the glass of the gym door when he noticed a small poster that read:

ATTENTION!

ALL GYM CHALLENGERS, I THE WONDERFUL AND BEAUTIFUL WHITNEY AM AWAY ON BUSINESS AND AM NOT CURRENTLY HERE. HOWEVER, I DO WISH TO BATTLE YOU AND FULFILL MY GYM LEADER DUTIES. FOR YOUR GYM BATTLE, CONTACT ME VIA MY POKENAV.

After the text had stopped, there was a number which apparently was her pokenav number. Crenu didn't have a pokenav of his own, but he did have phone. He signed and took it out e-mailing a message to the number on the poster.

Whitney, come to gym now. I'll be waiting for my badge.

Crenu

"At least this gym leader left a message."
