Marcus, meanwhile, was blissfully and thankfully unaware of all the drama at home. He had been in a good mood for more or less the entire week. "You needn't pack too many clothes," he told Terryn cheerfully. "We'll be returning shortly."

"Yes, I know, but I do not want them to be taken." Terryn looked up at him matter-of-factly. "I do not know these people and they may still show some animosity towards me." She continued packing the clothing she absolutely did not want taken, mostly because they had belonged to her mother.

"I doubt that anyone really cares enough about us. But alright." Marcus's belongings fit neatly into a small bag, and he could not understand why it was taking Terryn such a long time.

A few minutes later, Terryn emerged with her bag. It was almost filled as much as it had been when they left, but she honestly didn't care. "Now, are you sure that your grandmother will not decapitate us once we walk through the door?"

"Of course not. But remember to walk very quickly." Marcus grinned and stuffed Terryn's bag into the coach, deciding to say nothing of it. "Besides, decapitation will be the furthest thing from her mind when she sees that we really are a married couple now."

"That is true." Terryn stepped into the coach and pulled Marcus in with her. "You should just feel blessed that she did not attempt castration on you in the past."

"Ah, but she pretended to know nothing of my affairs. Very tactful on her part," remarked Marcus. "For a few years, she denied all responsibility of me. Those weren't my best years," he added.

"Well, that could work to our advantage." Terryn took his arms and wrapped them around her, reclining into his chest. "You have done the honorable thing this time, albeit unexpected."

"I have," echoed Marcus, nodding. "But how would we use it to our advantage? The elders have only been pressuring us to do this for about a year."

"We could use Serina's condition." Terryn had not made contact with her father since the elopement, and assumed that she was still at the springs. "Tell them that we realized how delicate life is and how we need to take advantage of the time we have."

Marcus nodded. "Somehow," he began. "I don't think it'll be too difficult to convince them. After all, they only need to pretend to disapprove for so long. And they won't be putting up a good fight, either."

"This is true." Terryn brushed Marcus's hair out of his face, playing with it absentmindedly. "If all else fails, we pretend that we are already expecting. Your grandmother would not dare attack a pregnant woman and her husband."

"My grandmother would not allow anyone to attack us, in that case." Marcus grinned. "We can bring her back to Greece with us until your fears of the women subside."

"Oh..." Terryn grinned at that thought, her eyes going wide. "Yes, that would be a wonderful idea. An attack grandmother."

"The most ferocious the world has ever seen," Marcus added proudly. "She's absolutely and completely savage." At least, as savage as a tea-sipping, makeup-wearing Duchess could be.
