Attempting to move out of the way proved in fruitful. "Ngh...! N-no...!" His vision would fade, and he'd wake up in a strange place with a gasp. Looking around, it seemed like some illusion world, or something. Looking at his body, he'd realize it wasn't quite what it normally was, making him panic some. "Ahh!" No, he had to be calm. There wa a maze, and it was time to traverse it. Maybe if he was a ghost, he could phase through walls or try flying over it. The moment he thought those things, he was warned not to. Great... "I accept your challenge! My story has only just begun!" With that, he took off, trying to get used to his movements.
If she were anyone else, she might be impressed with the Lotad's totally radical entrance and wipe-out, and maybe even prefer this Lotad over her current one. Her Lotad's mild nature suits her just fine, however, and though she would also be fine with this one's bold nature, she didn't have any pokeballs left available. Considering her options, Poppy pulls a pokeball from her bag to call out her first Pokemon to battle this rad Lotad. In a flash of red, Shinx appears. Lotad vs. Lotad wouldn't bear much fruit, and he was still her only Pokemon with full health. Shelmet has too little health to consider, and Lapras still needs to be trained properly and letting her out to battle one from her own bog probably wouldn't end well.
"Shinx, once this battle is over you may rest more. But for now, use Leer." Though he's not pleased to be let out so soon, he takes it out on the Lotad by giving him a glowering Leer.

Meulin the Disciple
A Leer attack wasn't exactly effective against some Pokemon however, this pone chiefly among them. Tilting his sunglasses lower by unknown means, the rad bad Lotad would look the Shinx in the eye as he said ">You lookin' at me punk? You lookin' at me!? Well I'm the only one here so you must be lookin' at me!<"
One would hope Shiloh was quite proud of his Larvesta. Her first battle and she was already a murderer....infanticide no less! Truly a stunning accomplishment. It wouldn't take long, as the flames lapped and licked at that Sunkern, but it was little more than a charred husk laying on the forest floor.

The Leer is inaffective, either because the Lotad is a tough guy with some rad shades, or because Shinx looks adorably grumpy. Whatever the case, it didn't work. "Shinx, be prepared to defend against its attack."
Shinx gives a vigorous shake of his body to better dry himself and flings water droplets at the face of the Lotad. >I'm not really looking at much, let me tell you! Sure, you don't look as dull as our Lotad, but you're not much better. So come on, let's get this over with already! I want to get dry, I'm sick of all this water.< Flicking his tail in a 'come at me' motion, he hops from paw to paw to get ready for dodging.
Shiloh was glad that she hadn't screamed. It could have caused complications, but the silent death worked well as she would see nothing of it.
Instead he would toss her up high and declares to the pokemon.
"Good job, the bad pokemon is all gone."
Shiloh would tell her as he would then tuck her in his arms once more and they both would continue forward. That battle was very educational for him, even if it only glean a bit of new knowledge for Phoenix as she gain just a little bit of experience from it.
If he saw another good chance like that, Shiloh would not ignore it..
