Why are the cheap horror movies from before cgi really came into play scarier then the multimillion dollar movies they push out today?

Take it as a compliment, I've rp'd with some good writers on here, I think you are better than them.
CGI hasn't advanced enough in order to trick my brain into thinking it's real. Also, when films use CGI, they overuse it; they choose to go over-board with it, rather than implementing suspense and mystery. It's like film-makers are saying "Look what we can do!" There is nothing scary about showing the villain of the piece, I believe people or more afraid of what they cannot see, because it allows their imagination to take over.

well, even the ones that you can see though.... like when they were in the craze with latex and fake blood. there was just an utter feeling of scarieness......

It's true, because they had an air of realism that CG doesn't have.

The effects only stand on their own when they're some of the best.

▀ _ I watched a horror/suspense/mystery whatever movie not to long ago called Psych 9.
It was awesome, and I don't say that about many horror movies, because most of them bore the s**t out of me. Kinda predictable toward the end, but really cool.
I wanna see what someone else thinks of it, if you choose to watch it.
Anyway. I have a headache and serious amounts of dishes to wash. Ugh. Someone else's turn. _ ▄
