*click* "Hunt journal, entry one. Hunter; William Jackson. Codename; Nighthunter. Location; Haven, Hunter leader's office. Access level alpha. Begin entry."
"I have just recovered from the fight against the vampire elders at the docks, but I can't rest easy. A nightmare from my past is back, one that threatens my Hunters but even more importantly my family. Mauser's back. Here. Now. I've received information that he's set up a new base of operations across the river in New Jersey. He is marshalling his forces for another attempt at wresting New York from our control. Mauser has always eluded me in the past, he's always two steps ahead of me, if not four or five."
"But not this time. He doesn't know that his activity has been discovered, even if his exact location is still unknown. The elment of surprise is mine. However if any New York forces mobilize, he'll take note and go deeper underground. If he moves again or changes his operation, we won't find it or him until he's ready to strike."
"So I'm going to implement the only solution I can see, sending a single Hunter who can move undetected and investigate, track, and hunt down Mauser's cells one by one without immediately alerting Mauser to a hostile presence. I may be biased, but there's only one Hunter I trust enough with this; me. I won't let that monster lay a finger on my family. Get ready Mauser, the Hunt is on, and I will not relent or return this time until you are finally dead at my hands. I will portect Lydia and Aurora, no matter the cost. End first entry."*click*

"You....you stupid..." Lydia tried to say, her tears getting int he way and making her choke. "You could have sent me....the Hunters could have afforded loosing me..." Lydia held Aurora close and curled up around her child, crying softly as she listened to each and every entry on the digital recorder. "They could have afforded loosing me..."

*whhhhhhhiiirrrrrrrrrrr**click*"Hunt journal sixteen. Hunter, Will Jackson. Location, New Jersey slums. One of Mauser's safehouses has suffered a 'tragic gas leak which resulted in a devastating explosion'. It was a lesser cell of Mauser's organization, far out of the loop and mostly unmonitored. He won't even notice hat it's gone until the bodies start mounting. My execution was perfect. Not even that paranoid b*****d will be able to see it as foul play if he investigates it. My cover remains intact. I've narrowed Mauser's location down to a twenty mile radius. Next strike expected to be ready in nine days, another minor cell. After that I might be able to go after a few lieutenants. I'll whittle away at the body of the beast bit my bit, until I'm ready to lop off the head. End entry."*click*
*whirrr**click*"Entry nineteen. It is now three weeks since I saw Lydia and Aurora. I'm tired and exhausted, but I can't give up. Two more minor safehouses have fallen to me, one by carbon monoxide poisoning while another developed a 'mysterious' electrical fire. From files I've raided from the safehouses I've hit I've identified four fifths of Mauser's command structure. Perhaps one of his lieutenants will be 'accostd by a violent mugger'. It's a dangerous city after all. Senseless tragedies happen. I'm going to end this. My family won't be safe unless I do. God, I want to see them so bad... No. Focus on the mission. Get it done. Finish it. No mercy, no retreat, no prisoners. It ends here and now. End entry."
*whiiiirrrrrr**click*"Entry twenty-four. New location, undisclosed. My activities have been noticed. My safehouse was hit last night. Six hostiles, all terminated. A homeless person got caught in the crossfire. Dragged his body into the safehouse along with the enemy agents then firebombed it, make Mauser think that his problem went up with his people. I'll lay low for a couple days, then come bck with a vengenance. I'm going to start hitting up to three cells a night, every night. Mauser will see it as a challenge, but since he still doesn't know that it's me or anyone else who knows about him directly his pride and arrogance will keep him in the city to see to it that his unknown, new personal irritant is eliminated. I'm closing in. It'll be ended soon. End entry."*click*

Lydia felt more ashamed and more enraged as each entry played. She could have helped him, could have made sure he was safe. Aurora would have been fine with Gail or Cookie and she could have gone with her husband...could have protected him from Neko. It was so maddening, that in the end what did him in was an emotional...child. An emotional child who was angry at Will for some reason.
A new thought hit Lydia as she kept listening to journal entries. Why had Neko been so angry? From what Lydia knew of the elder, Neko was for the most part happy and...bubbly? Was that the right term? Yes, happy and bubbly. She did not seem the kind of person who was prone to anger, let alone the kind of angry violence that led her husband to this state. There was still rage at what that girl had done, but somehow...Lydia still knew she could not harm the elder. With Will like this, she found it hard to dredge up any emotion. After listening to the rest of the entries and talking to Gail again, Lydia would go visit Neko. She wiped more tears from her eyes as another entry played.

*whhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr**click*"Entry 47. Mauser's second was careless. He left his window blinds open. A single sniper bullet has removed the last of Mauser's command. But I have to move quick. After this Mauser will have no choice but to relocate within the next twenty-six hours if not sooner. Fortunately I've narrowed his possible locations down to three. End entry."*click*
*click*"Entry 48. Negative of Mauser on the alpha location. I heaved a Molotov cocktail through their window anyway. Moving to beta location. End entry."*click*
*click*"Entry 49. He's here. I've spotted him. I have three hours to prepare my assualt andeliminate all his escape options but one, one that I've planned for. It ends tonight. I'm coming home, Lyds. End entry."*click*

Lydia was close to full out bawling when the recorder came to a close. He had been so close to her, but Neko had taken that reunion moment away from both of them. Fifty entries of hearing how he had almost died time and time again, just to make sure she and Aurora were safe...Lydia kept saying to herself that she was not worth the trouble, but in her heart, she knew that Will thought of her and Aurora as his world. And he and Aurora were hers...if either of them died, Lydia knew that part of her would die as well, the part that made her want to keep living.
"You have to live." Lydia said, murmuring it both to Will and Aurora. "I'll protect you now." She stood up, putting the recorder in her back pocket, and walked over to Will, lying comatose before her. Leaning down and arranging Aurora, the psychic laid a gentle and chaste kiss on Will's lips. "When you wake up, I promise to give you the best night of your life, so wake up soon, my love." she whispered, one of her tears dripping silently onto his face. "Wake up, if for no other reason than for me and your family."
Rubbing her eyes again, Lydia shifted Aurora to make them both more comfortable, and started to head out of the room so she could find Gail.

((NPCing as Gail))
Gail was waiting outside the room as Lydia exited. "Have faith Lydia. Will's too stubborn to go away when he's needed. He'll come back to us. Promise."
It could very well become a lie, Gail was aware of that fact. But it needed to be said.

"Thank you, Gail." Lydia said, her eyes red and puffy as she smoothed down Aurora's hair needlessly. It seemed to soothe the huntress. "It helps to hear someone say that. I'm....I'm going to go out for a bit, I think. We will be back to keep a watch on Will. I will watch him until he wakes up." Lydia stopped dead for a moment. He would wake up, he would! He could not die, not when everyone needed him so! Not when...not when she and Aurora needed him so.

the stench of burning silver and flesh arived near the medical ward long before tyler did. though the sound of his skuttling echoed in the halls and hummed off of varous instruments in the ward. though as he grew closer, the smell became stronger. and soon enough, his transformed form arose from the shadows of the celing and dropped down yards from the door to the ward. it was a clear sprint with very few in his way. though he barreled for the door like he was about to feed on prey he had chased down. though he meant no harm.

((NPCing as Gail))
Gail had, over the last three years or so, treated not only dozens of humans but dozens of other creatures including mutants, cyborgs, lycanthropes, vampires, and even the occassional Tainted for a variety of injuries and illnesses ranging from severe sunburn in the case of vampires, allergic reactions to silver in the case of the lycans, and stitching stab wounds closed and digging out bullets for pretty much everyone. She'd gotten used to the various non-humans she dealt with, and could tell alot about her incoming paitents by paying attention to a few clues. For example, the one that was on the way in now. The scuttling sound was of a lycan in full hybrid transformation rushing in a hurry to the infirmary; the fact that it sounded like it was moving under it's own power was a good sign. The distinct scent of burning flesh mixed with the smell of smelting silver gave away the reason why the poor creature was in such a rush to get treatment. Obviously the incoming lycan either had some silver pumped into him or got coated by silver dust.
Moving to the central first aid station in the infirmary's lobby, Gail grabbed a large bottle of first aid wash to soothe the wounds and wash away the silver residue on her latest patient when they came in. Turning to face the newcomer, Gail prepared her usual greeting when her eyes went wide and the still unopened bottle fell to the ground, released by suddenly loose fingers. It was a lycan, just as she'd thought, suffering from silver burns. But it was a familiar lycan. One that she hadn't seen in years.
Staring in shock, her voice came out as a choked whisper. "Tyler? Hon, is that really you?"

tyler skidded to a halt, claw marks digging into the ground as he made a "emergency stop" to avoid plowing into the good doctor. the collar he normally wore to suppress his lycan side and prevent him from harming his friends still fastened tightly around his transformed neck. the silver burning into him as he sat there infront of her. the tattered remains of the necklace will gave him a long time ago after the incodent with the lunites hung around his neck as well. "will... i smell him. please doc, tell me he's not dead" panted tyler as he forced himself to revert to a human form.
scaring was all over his body in intricate designs that resembled tattoos. made permanent from melted silver being poured onto the wounds. "where is my alpha, i can smell him gail... why is he in the infermery?" asked Tyler, his voice filled with concern. officially he was supposed to be dead... the report from the north west hunters should have been filed to haven when he was buried in new york, heck he still sported the traditional burial cloths of a fallen hunter. black vest, black pants and dress shoes... he looked like he had just come out of the grave. which he had but that was for a different time.
he stood there for a moment until logic and her words caught up with him. "yes gail... it's me. you more than anyone know we're hard to kill... we may appear dead but we rise once more at the call of our comrades..." he replied casually as he took another step towards her, though he stopped mid step to see if he was still welcome. "i heard him gail... i know he's alive. i've come for my brother... my friend..." he paused for a moment. "and my alpha"

((NPCing as Gail))
Instantly Gail moved forward, busily hustling Tyler into a nearby chair. "Sit! Sit now! Good heavens child, we all thought you were long gone if not dead... Come on, sit down already!"
Finally forcing the lycan down into the chair, Gail rushed back to the first aid station and grabbed a thick tube of anti-bacterial and herbal burn cream. Squirting a large dose of the white, scented cream into her hand, she moved back to Tyler and began rubbing the cool, soothing substance into his injuries. Breathing in a calming breath the medic quickly got over the shock of practically seeing someone come back from the grave, and started trying to figure out how to explain to him how Will, someone he almost revered, was in a coma.
"Will is... He's... Well, there's no easy way to explain it... Come over here."
Gently she guided him up out of the chair and over to the ICU section. Coming up to an observation window, she gestured inside the room to show Will lying motionless in bed, gauze covering his head and an entire side of his face, breathing tubes in his nostrils, and IVs alongside dozens of other machines hooked up to him.

tyler stood there motionless for a moment looking at will's body. "he's out cold isn't he?" asked tyler as he thought for a moment. his normal question would be who did this or something along those lines... but now looking at him... he simply didn't want to leave his side. "doc... what's his chance of survival in this state?" asked tyler considering all sorts of different things in his head at the moment.

Krii'Ouse stared in anger through Tyler's eyes. Gail would feel a familiar presence entering her mind, and Tyler would feel Krii'OUse's consciousness leave his mind. *Gail,* she would hear, *What happened?* Her memories would flash before her eyes, and Krii'Ouse listened to them.
*What a fool... Why didn't he take me? Why didn't he tell me?* his words echoed through Gail's mind. *Go to him, Gail. I need to get into his mind, now.*

Kerrigan paused outside the doorway to the infirmary, standing with her hand on the door handle. She was tired, she was sore, she was angry as hell for what Neko had done to Will, she was scared out of her mind for Lydia, heart broken that she might never find Krii, and at the same time wishing that things were simple like they were back in the old days. Right now, however, there was no room for Kerrigan to show the slightest inkling of wear or emotional instability. It had taken all of her energy to call off her search for Neko after she had found Will and Lydia in the Park. She wanted to go in and see if he was alright, but at the same time there was so much work to be done, and she was afraid of what she might hear or see when she went in.
"Shut up and go in," Kerrigan muttered to herself, straightening herself up, wiping any tiredness or exhaustion from her coutnenance and making sure that she looked like she was in complete control of everything going on in her life right now. As she walked in, she did not see anyone in the immediate area, though she heard voices further in the back. There was more than just Gail and Lydia, so she took a few steps in that direction, once more pausing outside the room that Will was in. She looked in to get a view of him, and what she saw made her heart wrench. There had to have been something that she could have done to help prevent this, though what that was, she had no idea what it was. If anyone looked in her direction, she would flash them a smile, though anyone who knew her would know that it was not a happy one. Still, with so many people worrying over him, Kerrigan wanted to try to be reassuring.
She only had a few minutes before she needed to resume looking for Krii, but as of right now she was on a stand still until she heard back on the HIN about the jumping in Krii's signal. If this didn't work, then she was out of ideas as to where to find him the scientific way, which meant she would have to start checking all the buildings in New York one by one. She would do it though, and if someone tried to stop her, then they were going to have one hell of a fight on her hands.
