"...But it looks like she's okay now," Scarlet said to Jane, as she adjusted herself in her seat.
"That's good," Jane replied, looking over to Nina, who was only a room away. "That's Sabrina's sister, right?"
"Yeah. I feel bad for the girl; I guess that she witnessed Sabrina actually getting killed."
"Oh, god!" Jane said, an expression coming onto her face that was a mix of sorrow and shock. "That must have been horrible!"
"Yeah, I guess Nina almost got shot, but Sabrina shoved her out of the way and got shot instead." Scarlet shook her head. "Talk about being scarred for life."
Jane frowned. "Hey, don't talk that way," she said. "That's not something you joke about, Scarlet."
"I didn't mean for it to sound like one!" Scarlet replied, almost defensively. "I'm just saying that--"

Scarlet was interrupted when a sudden, rapid beeping came from the other room. Both nurses rushed in and noticed Nina's vitals were racing out of control. "Oh god, no! It can't be!" Scarlet nearly screamed, covering her mouth for a moment.

"Her heart rate's through the roof! She could have a heart attack if she doesn't get help! And... oh god, her kidneys are starting to fail! Scarlet, get Dr. Klein, right now!" Jane looked to the other nurse. "Didn't you hear me?!" she screamed. "GO!"

Scarlet finally ran off, her hands covering her mouth and tears welling up in her eyes. Oh my god, oh my god, she thought, this can't be!

Jane quickly located a nearby AED, and other medical tools. "Why the hell is this happening? Nina was given the quantity of blood she needed and the transfusion performed perfectly! This doesn't make sense; Sabrina's parents both have type A blood, so that would be passed on to their children. I made sure that type A was what Nina received! Kidney failure only occurs when a person receives the wrong blood type..." Jane's voice trailed off, and she whispered, "Oh, my god..."

Jane didn't breathe for a few moments. "If this is happening to her... then Nina isn't Jessica and Michael's biological child..."

Mike let out a long overdue sigh of relief, Nitro doing the same.

Portabello hopped over to Mike, Napalm sitting atop the mushroom capped Pokemon's 'hat'. A flower was in the Breloom's beak, a pretty pink sprout he had never seen before. A blend of my own, Portabello thought spoke to his visibly wearied friend. Just tell her not to consume it, as the seed came from my poisonous tail kernels and I do not know what you humans eat.

The boy smiled, recalling Napalm and accepting the lovely plant. He turned to Nitro, unhooking the flame adorned Pokeball.

As the large fire Pokemon lethargically whirled to give his trainer a thumbs up, a searing pain in his leg followed by a small series of cracks sent the Charizard falling to his stomach.

Stepping over a hole, his always messy hair was straight, sticking to his head with sweat. He brushed the now trembling Pokemon's neck, his face showing a respectful smile. "You are amazing," He said, giving Nitro a gently wide armed hug. "I don't know how you do it." Recalling his faithful Pokemon, Mike made his way to Flannery, who looked just as tattered and messy as him, dirt covering her clothes. She's never looked more beautiful. Now he was the one who trembled, missing on his first few attempts to clip Nitro's Pokeball onto his strap. His eyes moved toward the flower his Pokemon had made for him moments before. "This is for you. Some more flowers, er, flower." He smiled, his reddened face masked by the clumps of dirt on his cheeks. "What can I say, it's addicting to get you things." The boy laughed once, holding out the pink bloom in his right hand.

"Good fight Flannery. Good fight."

Just as predicted, Noir wasn't about to let the rain continue, and she ordered her Exeggutor to make it sunny again. Sunbeams parted the dark clouds overhead, stopping the rain almost instantly. Kasiya shifted uncomfortably in her soaked clothes, the feeling even worse now that it was suddenly sweltering again. Deciding to take a risk, Kasiya told Ariel to use Wish, and the Vaporeon complied, glowing a faint bluish colour for a moment before it faded. Exeggutor wasted no time in blasting the Water-type with a Solarbeam - even though the attack was off by a bit it still did significant damage. Now panting heavily, Ariel looked ready to faint. Kasiya smiled at her faithful partner and friend before recalling her, and smiling devilishly as she threw Hiro's Pokeball forcefully onto the field.

It was evident on the faces of all the bikers that the match was about to turn sour for them. Hiro was blindingly fast even with Exeggutor's speed being boosted by the effects of its Chlorophyll ability, and Kasiya wore a bright smile as Hiro became wreathed in fire and slammed his large body into the Grass-type, all odds against it. It slumped down as Hiro returned to his trainer, turning his head and snarling fiercely at the lot of them.

"Doctor Klein!" Scarlet yelled as she located the man she was looking for, "we have an emergency! We need you down in the emergency room, right this instant!"
"What's the matter?" the doctor asked, as he ran with Scarlet back toward the ER.
"Earlier, we had admitted a patient who had lost a great deal of blood. We performed a transfusion, but her body seems to be rejecting the blood we've given her."
"How is that possible?" Dr. Klein asked; "you know that we always use type O blood when performing transfusions, Scarlet. We save the other types."
"Well, I know that, doctor," Scarlet replied, "but the girl we admitted was the sister of the city's former Gym Leader. Since their parents both have type A blood, it would be passed on to their children."
The doctor didn't speak for a moment. "Scarlet, did you simply assume that she had the same type of blood? You didn't bother to run a check to be absolutely certain?"
"Doctor, I didn't feel it was necessary because of her genetics! All signs pointed to her having type A!"
Dr. Klein shook his head. "If anything happens to this woman, it is you who will be held accountable! I can't believe you were so negligent in caring for a patient, Scarlet!"

Dr. Klein
and Scarlet arrived back in the Emergency Room shortly thereafter.

Somehow, the gym leader held back her tears, standing up. Magu shuddered slightly, an odd sight to see coming from a Fire-type, and Flannery called him back, placing the Pokeball in her pocket as she attempted futilely to brush the dirt from her jeans. Her scarlet hair lacked its normal, healthy bounce, and she was mostly covered in soot. She glanced around her ruined gym floor and laughed weakly. "You were amazing," she told Mike, her eyes slowly looking up from the ground by his feet until they finally met his. That charming smile of his had always warmed her heart, why had it taken so long for her to realize it? She reached out with her left hand to take the flower, but instead, found her palm resting gently on his wrist. For some reason, she was content to just stand there like that. An almost shy smile crept across her lips as she gazed at her long time friend. "That battle was epic. Thanks."

"Thanks," Keegan said simply, not sure if Dante was being sarcastic or not. He caught sight of the book in his hands, but decided to stay quiet. "So are we going to the gym or are we gonna stay here and read all day?" he asked, somewhat impatiently. He did want to get this over with; after all, he had a gym match of his own waiting for him back in Hoenn. Wattson's badge will be mine, the boy thought, clenching his fist together as he reached down to pick up Helios. "As soon as we're done here, I'm boarding the next train bound for Mauville, and we will have that badge.

"No, thank you." He used his free hand to brush his long bangs from his eyes, a bit of dirt wet from his tears rubbing off on his hand. He smiled, looking around. "Well, do you want me to help you to clean this up?"

His clawed feet scratching the dirty floor, Portabello stood a few feet behind Mike, a small bout of grass creeping through a small crack in the ground beside him.

"Hmm, smart," Noir said, almost looking impressed. "But I'm not out yet!" She recalled her Exeggutor, and sent out a large, round Pokemon.

"A Golem!?" Kasiya exclaimed, looking very worried all of a sudden. Her clothes were drying rapidly due to the heat from the Sunny Day. She knew that Hiro would be at a huge disadvantage, and also that Golem had lousy Special Defenses. "Use Flamethrower anyway!" the girl cried, pointing at the rocky Pokemon.

Hiro shook his head fiercely before blasting the Golem before him with an intense burst of flames. Even though it was resistant, the Golem winced from the pain, blackened patches appearing on its ruddy skin.

"No more games! Golem! Use Rock Throw now!" Noir cried angrily. Golem gave an angry growl as it ripped a chunk of the road up and hurled it at the Arcanine, making for a solid hit. The overgrown puppy yelped in pain, as he sustained a large amount of damage from the super-effective hit.

Flannery shook her head, finally letting go of Mike's arm. "No, not right now," she sighed, looking at the holey floor in dismay. "I'm too tired." She wiped her forehead with the back of her hand, smearing the soot across her face into a long, black streak. "It can wait. Besides," she looked at her watch, grumbling a bit as she had to wipe the black from the face in order to see the time, "it's getting pretty late, and we've had a long day. Do you really want to spend the next several hours shoveling dirt into those holes?"

"Doctor Klein!" Jane exclaimed as he walked into the ER. "Over here! This is the patient that needs your attention!"

The tall, brown-haired doctor made his way over to Jane, after shooting a dark glance towards Scarlet. "Name and condition?" he asked Jane.

"Nina Williams," Jane replied, moving out the way, allowing Dr. Klein access to the girl. "Scarlet probably told you already, but her body is rejecting the blood given to her from the transfusion that was performed."

"Understood. Jane, bring me three quantities of type O blood," Dr. Klein said, as his nurse nodded and took off. "In the meantime, let's see what we can do about stablizing her heart and restoring her kidney functions..."

Clearly, I know nothing about the kind of actual medical procedures that take place during this type of situation, so please bare with me. <3

Mike took another look at the surroundings, charred rock and ripped earth met his eyes. "Yeah, that's probably for the best." He gently removed his wrist from Flannery's grip and slid the flower so it rested on her ear. "You look lovely." He said as he turned and exited the gym.

The Breloom made a respectful bow to both Flannery and Magu. Salutations. He thought spoke, hopping forward to his trainer.

After a short trek, the two made it to the Pokemon Center. Exhausted, Mike handed the ever familiar Joy Nitro's, Xanthos' and Beacon's Pokeballs. "I finally beat her..." The nurse could hear him say as the boy made for the changing room and exited with his trademark flame trunks.

Portabello however, sat outside the Center, the cool evening breeze causing his grassy fur to stand on end, the Pokemon sitting down and closing his eyes. Now, where was I? Ah yes... He muttered as the Breloom meditated in the shadow of his favorite tree.

Jane returned a minute or so later with the blood that was requested, and set it on a small table next to Nina's bed.

"I need a couple other things, Jane," Dr. Klein said as he put on a pair of rubber latex gloves. "Could you wheel in the dialysis machine, and bring the catheters in with it? I've decided to use that procedure to clean Nina's kidneys out. Since they only recently began to build up fluid, we should only have to do this once." Jane nodded, and replied that she'd be back as soon as she could, before taking off down the hallway.

"Doctor?" Scarlet asked, "Is there anything that you would like for me to do to help?" Dr. Klein was silent for a moment. "Go with Jane and help her bring the machine back down here," he replied. "Even you couldn't possibly screw that up.

Scarlet was silent, and went down the hall after Jane.

Instant Krill

"I'm Mary-Anne," she said in return, taking the gloved hand and shaking it firmly, making eye contact and smiling affably. After all, that was the way Michael always did it -- though her smile was her own, of course. "A pleasure to meet you, Violet." She flew all the way here from Kanto? Wow! The girl refrained from saying this aloud, though, for the sake of this first meeting, only glancing from Violet to Salamence with some awe. It seemed that M.A. had been thrown into the world of wonderment quite often that day; well, then again, she had met so many wonderful trainers and Pokemon today, so it was fairly excused.

As she had looked at the Dragon, her sharp eyes couldn't miss the dark clouds and the vague, blurred area in the far distance, in the direction Kasiya had left in. That'd odd. . . it's raining there. A moment, later, though, the tiny spot cleared up again entirely, sun shining clearly. What's happening over there? What weird weather. I hope Kasiya's okay.

First and foremost, Flannery quickly healed up her party using the gym's recovery machine. Secondly, she gathered a change of clothes from her office (she spent more time at the gym then at her actual home anyways) and cleaned up a bit before she headed out. What she needed was a good soak in the hot springs. Making sure she had a clean towel as well as her favorite swimsuit, the gym leader left her gym feeling oddly content after the day's events.

She stepped inside the Pokemon Center, giving her regards to the Nurse as she entered the women's side of the change rooms. Flannery quickly changed into her ruby red one-piece, still wearing the pink flower in her hair, and breathed in the tantalizing smell of the springs. She tossed her towel to the side and carefully stepped down and into the water. Only then through the steam did she catch sight of Mike. "Long time no see," she said jokingly.

Kysono

Ky nodded. He was glad that Crenu knew how urgent the situation was. Ky quickly configured the bike out of its folded form, and before heading off down the road, he thought he'd say goodbye. Crenu though, was already in the heat of battle, one that he shouldn't interrupt. Instead, Ky turned the bike towards Violet City, took in a deep breath, and sped down the road, pushing the pedals as hard as he could. Even though he was rushing, Ky was much more relaxed this time. Little Guy was poisoned, but he wasn't at the lowest in health, and seeing that Little Guy could pull through with almost no health, Ky was confident that he'd last again. Still, Ky cursed himself for having Little Guy suffer like this. A small tear rolled down his cheek.
