All I know is that when you give a (platoon) command squad a Meltagun, Plasma Rifle, and a Bolt Pistol, Space Marines start dying quickly at close range.
And I was planning on putting either two Meltas or two Plasma rifles in the same Stormtrooper squad in order to deep strike them next to whatever and decimate it right off the bat, giving no heed to their own protection. Well, some heed...

in fact most IG commanders I know swear by kamikaze deepstrike stormtroopers... 70 points for 2 deepstiking meltaguns with bs4 is good deal, especially against enemy armor (cough, iron Warriors, cough)

Eh, but that's not too fluffy or realistic. Actually, that brings me to a question I have - do you go with fluff, or with actual tabletop performance? I want to give all of my Gaurdsmen Carapace Armor and Sharpshooters. This is not because I think it will make them incredibly more effective, but to emphasize that they're both bloated and half-dead (Armored) and follow in the training of the infamous Death Gaurd (Sharpshooters).
You know, Nurgle + Excellent guidance.

I stick to both really, I fecking hate min/maxers who play to win and do everything in their power to squeeze out that extra "oompf" to feck you over.
My army is a basic force tailored to face anything really, I don't specialize in one foe or another, too much of a hassle and not my personal style.

I haven't seena squad on the board in forever. It's usually just, "*Grav-chutes down, fires* AHHH! *dies in raging inferno of the enemy counter attack*"

It could work. Sounds like a nice throwback to the old Penal Legions, but you might have a hard time tying the look into the plastic Cadians.
I say go for it, and at the same time you can go and make a Necromunda Gang too. smile

-Mykal Yeah, I was planing on making a 20 man squad with 2 Heavy Weapon Teams. I know, BS 2 isn't going to impress anyone, but I had a plan... Let the rest of the squad as meatshields for the Heavy Weapons! Statisticly I'm bound to hit something beofre the end of the game/before I run out of meatshields.
And the Necromunda Gang models will make the Squad look more rugged and not-so-organized.

Using the squads as if they were a heavy weapon with ten wounds is a tried and true Guard tactic. You might yet go far.

They're trying to go out and martyr themselves, taking as many enemies with them as they can. Reminds me of that suicide Gaurdsman bomber idea I think Lt. Brookman came up with...

Which in turn is derived from the old Imperial Army from waaaay back, when we had proper penal legions with explosive collars and legions of beastmen.

there was a short story in ed3 codex eldar featuring quote: "only humans would value life so low as to sacrifice own to kill enemy", when suicidal troops were encounterd. Note that Warp Spider Exarch quoted, featured in old SoB codex too,in a story where his squad was hiding in some bunker until an Immolator fried them all...
