"Good point..." Mala murmured, thinking for a moment. She frowned slightly to herself, soon just giving up the thought since attempting to plan for such a situation was simply giving her a headache. "Okay, so let's decide how to deal with that later. Instead, let's try and head for a settlement or something so that I can get on to research."

"Right." Riley agreed with a nod. "And think of it this way: You were all worried when there was a reckless god possessing my body, and now I get to worry about my sister being the girlfriend of the god that everyone hates." he said with a smirk.

"Ha! The tables have finally been turned! Now you know how I felt." Riley said smugly. All the years of embarrassment have been repaid! Not really, but he took his victories where he could.

"I'll take my victories when I can, thanks." Riley said, hardly scared of his sister's wrath, even if she could throw fireballs now. "Come on, let's get back on the road and get Van out of there." he said with a smile as he started walking.

"What?? Now that doesn't seem very fair! Verbal payback does not warrant physical payback!" Riley said, taken aback that his loving sister would threaten him so.
Van couldn't but laugh as he watched the scene. "Hahah! So much for you two being the perfect little pair of siblings! Of course, that's part of the fun, having sibling rivalries and bickering back and forth and the like." he said with a nod, although he wondered how he knew something like that so well.

Mala stuck her tongue out at Riley, clearly only going to do something impish and immature versus something that would cause serious damage. Mala wondered if Van could hear any of her thoughts and tried to project one sentence to him, 'Do you remember having a sibling that you'd always argue with?'

"I...don't know..." Van said, mildly confused. "It's like I remember what I felt back then, but I don't really remember the experiences...I guess I must have been a brother to someone during my mortal days." he said with a bit of a depressed sigh that he couldn't remember more at the moment.

'Sorry for bringing it up.' Mala continued on, seemingly silent and distant to anyone who couldn't hear her conversation with Van - which pretty much left everyone else.

"It's fine...I just wish I could remember more." Van said. "I used to be part of a family at some point. I want to be able to look back and say 'yeah, those were good days'. I know they're all long since dead and it probably won't matter much, but I'm the only person still around to keep their memory alive, you know? I feel bad unable to recall anything about growing up."

'You'll remember them some day, I'm sure. Maybe something will trigger your memories along the way.' Mala suggested to Van, hoping that her optomistic words would cheer him up about the subject a little.

"I know, for now it just feels...empty." Van said. "So far all I've got is that song I surprisingly remember..." he said remembering the lullaby he somehow knew. "Maybe while I'm waiting to get released...I could try to come up with another song...Since I did say I'd do it just for you sometime..." he said changing the subject, still embarrassed about the talent he didn't know he had.
