Lin looked thoughtful for a moment, she didn't want to trouble them if they did not have anything prepared. It was harder to feed many people than just two.
"Perhaps we should head back to the ranch," Lin finally replied.

Earendil turned to Haldia, who nodded.
"It sounds like a good idea to me," she affirmed. "I am ready. It will be good to be outside again."
She glanced over at Lin. "Is there always this much time spent indoors in the winter?"

Lin nodded sheepishly knowing how much Haldia preferred outdoors.
"It's just the cold... even wearing a lot of clothing there any part of the body left to the open will not fare well in the cold if left for long periods of time."

Haldia pursed her lips thoughtfully, and Earendil smiled sheepishly. "It's called frostbite," he explained, "where your skin actually freezes."
"That does not sound pleasant," Haldia said dryly.
"Got that right," Earendil chuckled. He turned to Amara and smiled warmly at her. "Thank you for all your hospitality, it was a pleasure to stay here with you."
Amara smiled back. "You're welcome back any time. All of you. We don't get much company."

"Thank you so much," Lin smiled.
Placing a hand on Miyuki's head to draw her attention away from her new doll, Lin told Miyuki, "Miyuki, say thank you."
She blinked... and blinked, "Tank you?"

Earendil chuckled softly and resisted the urge to reach out and ruffle Miyuki's hair as he had always done with Lin. She was just adorable.
"Well, I guess we should get our things then," he murmured. He started towards the room where he had slept the night before. His things were all packed, and he just needed to grab his bag.
Haldia's bag was already packed and in the living room, so she didn't have to get anything.
"Would you like me to watch Miyuki while you get your things?" she offered to Lin.

"That would be great, thanks," Lin nodded.
She bent down so she could tell Miyuki properly what was going on. Lin wasn't quite sure what Miyuki made of Haldia.
"Miyuki, stay with Haldia while I get our things okay?"
Miyuki blinked up at the black skinned woman, she didn't really understand at all the sounds that the lady was making.
"Hal?"
"Yes, Haldia."
Getting up, Lin went to gather her things quickly.

Haldia smiled and knelt down so that she was a bit closer to Miyuki's height (though even kneeling she was easily twice her height).
"Miyuki ... stay, kay?" she said in broken English, smiling warmly. "See ... doll ... play." She pointed at the Earendil doll in Miyuki's hands.

Miyuki looked at her doll, she really did like this doll. This doll looked like her Earendil.
"Dil!" Miyuki smiled happily from ear to ear.
She studied it the best a child could, the whole idea of having a doll just like a person was amazing to her.

Haldia giggled softly and sat down on the floor, crossing her legs comfortably. "Miyuki ... like ... like doll, yes?" she asked. "Is good ... Earendil look. Like Earendil look."
She knew just how fond Miyuki was of him, and really anyone who watched her would be able to tell as well. Now if only Lin would take a step back and look at things, take an initiative or two, things would be perfect for all three of them.

"Luffs!" Miyuki grinned holding up the doll, "Luffs Dil."
She hugged the doll close, she really didn't get what all the fuss was about before, but as long as she had her Earendil and her Mummi everything was going to be okay.
"Dill luffs Mummi."

Haldia smiled and nodded, and patted Miyuki lightly on the head. "Yes," she said warmly. "Earendil love you moder. Earendil love Miyuki also."
She looked up as Earendil returned with his bag, and smiled at him. Had he finally found the courage to speak to Lin after all? She honestly hadn't expected that.
"I will go summon Rhiel," she said, excusing herself. She reached for her bag and headed for the door, leaving Miyuki with Earendil.
Earendil chuckled and knelt next to Miyuki, holding one arm out to her. "Come here, you," he grinned.

Miyuki giggled as she padded up to Earendil. She smiled brightly up at him.
"Dil!"
"She's quite pleased," Lin commented as she reentered the room with both her and Miyuki's bag.

Earendil chuckled and picked up Miyuki balancing her in one arm. "She sure is," he grinned at Lin. "But that's good. Maybe it will help when you have to return home with her."
Not that he was looking forward to that time. But he was an adult, he would hold up as he always had before.
"So," he murmured, "ready to go?"

"Ready," Lin nodded, she looked down at Miyuki and smiled, "Ready go to Miyuki? We're going to go flying again."
It was the best way to her to put it since Miyuki seemed to like flying.
