She brushed her fingers over his chest and nodded. "And that's a good way to find yourself in bed for a while when they begin to overtake you. If you let things like this go they only get worse." And now she was sounding like her mother. "I know, lecturing. I'm sorry."
"Rest. Rest is good." Nuzzling against him and closing her eyes. She did feel like she needed more reverie than she'd been getting. And being sick wasn't a fun thing for anyone. "And you'll stay with me while I reverie, too?" Gazing up at him for a moment to get his answer before her mind pushed her over the edge and into reverie.

A slight grin.
"you mean like someone else's vaults? Send him back home with you and let him loose in the brigade headquarters maybe?"
A chuckle at that and leaning forward some with that hinted scheming grin on his face.
"that might not be a bad idea. let him sate his wanderlust some, have some innocent and harmless fun in someone else private things, get him out of my hair for a bit. and he can check up on Galesen for me as well, and see if he is spending too much time in the rain and neglecting his reports. I can't think that things have been this quiet this long. Not with that woman still in the underfoot and her daughter on the verge of possibly taking complete command."

"Yeah but some of use have a lot more to do in one day than just train to our heart's content. I have to break my back everyday for Malik and while I find it satisfying, it's still a hell ton of sweat and blood. And yes, you are lecturing but it's nice because it means you care."
"Yeah, I'll stay with you. You being sick gives me an excuse to be lazy." Watching her drift off, he'd just work on plans and numbers in the mean time.
"I never said that I wouldn't take the boy off your hands if you need him to be away for a while. Especially if he's wanderlusting." Better to let children vent that in a controlled way he supposed. Though Kieran gave a smirk, "You'd be surprised about little Krymsyn. Tyyrael is more or less grooming her to his liking and influence right under her mother's nose."

"I'm not surprised by that, Kieran. not in the least. I am kept abreast of a great many things."
Leaning back and getting that very old, very methodical look to him. the look his wife commonly called his 'war look'.
"But her mother certainly will notice the change. Tyyrael's ideas of leadership and control are not even close to Mahlari's. And if she doesn't see it now, she will the second her time as ruler is up. which will only truly come by death. the young can only replace the old through this. Mahlari, nor her sister, will give up the reigns voluntarily."
drumming his fingers together lightly.
"Tyyrael's protection is worthless without his physical presence. It will take one false step, one motion out of line, and one spoken command to end the daughter's life. I imagine right now she plays two faces. one to her mother, and one for tyyrael. Mahlari might not do the deed herself, but Khavier will. his loyalty to Mahlari comes before all. he's trained, groomed, and bred for it. and he is, in the end, expendable."
thinking ahead some.
"You're planar laws have shifted very little with the advent of the more commonly meeting joint council rather then the entire segregation of peoples. The underfoot is still their own domain, unaffected by most rules of the surface. what happens down there, stays down there. Mahlari will be watching Krymsyn carefully now. She'll be looking for the signs of Tyyrael's teaching, for perceived weakness as she is coming of age."
"Despite how you and yours see it. the underfoot is a ruthless, and unforgiving place, and as such, so are the Obsidian. Mahlari would sooner face Tyyrael's wrath then see her empire weaken even minutely from a 'weak' daughter. and her sister I'm sure will do her damnedest to see that her 'rightful' position for the throne can be utilized. Tyyrael's pupil has powerful potential enemies. and they outnumber her one powerful ally both in number, and in time with her. Which is why I want to be kept informed in this more so then normal. and Galesen has been slacking a little of late."
picking up a wine glass and taking a drink.
"What effects you, effects me. a civil war in the underfoot can benifit me, certainly. less competition. but that same civil war can hurt me far more, depending on whom gains the reigns of power. Galesen's ability to gather information comes at costs to me in goods to bribe for it. that leaves a trail to follow. if whomever gains control needs a scapegoat, Galesen, and through him me, become targets of convinence. of course it's all our fault. that's what all the bribes and goods I sent were for."
"As much as I want to have Mahlari and Khavier's heads for handpuppets, I have to hope that Krymstn can wrest control without a civil war breaking out. and to do that, I have to keep aware of her and the potential threats to her. I may not like her much more then her mother. But I still prefer someone I can at least somewhat predict to some stranger."

Kieran merely listened and then took to his food for a bit before he smiled over at Malik, shook his head lightly and just gave another chuckle. "You worry far too much." Though he supposed that was something genetic in all elves of his type as well as raised behavior. "There are more people's with their hands on the matter than just Tyyrael. Believe me, we've all be preparing for when Mahlari runs out of time and things switch." Grinning again, "And I'll check on Galesen for you when we go back."

A slight grin.
"So have I. I have a very old score to settle with Khavier. I don't like being played with, and I don't like attempted blackmail, and I especially don't like members of my House being physically injured as the result of the previously mentioned item. Had I known then what I know now, Khavier would not have made it back to Andal. Or at least not in a recognizable state."
A shrug.
"But just another reason why information is the true coin of the underfoot. beyond wealth and land..information is true power. And yes, my daughter, you can take your brother out to play."
letting his daughter whom he could tell was getting overly fidgety in her seat at the table go out. though a glance at his wife who had been awfully quiet through this.

"Going to hold onto that forever? Perhaps it deserves to be held onto but as I see it, despite it all it worked out for you. After all, it put some of Sevilin's demons to rest didn't it? People work much more efficently when they don't have demons of their past riding on their shoulders." Or maybe he was just being an easy going surface elf about, not that it mattered to him either way, he just didn't want to see Malik dig himself into an unnecessary hole.
She all but bolted from her chair, scrambling down in her haste and tripping over her own boots and yet resilitantly popping right back up and grabbing her brother's wrist, tugging. "Come on."
"Who says I want to play with you now? Tormenting me like that, honestly. Besides, some of us can fit more food inside of our stomachs."
Rather than tug more, she got her confrontational look and crossed her arms over her chest with a huff and gave a little stomp of a foot. "Come on."
"Don't think so kiddo." Which had him giving a pained noise and dropping his fork, gripping at his tunic in pain as his sister had slapped her hands on his other arm with a jolt of magic. He had discovered that his sister not only could seemingly will away the 'bad feelings' in her family but now she was starting to induce them. Her discovery of her own magic and it being fostered did have kickbacks. She had found a way to retaliate against others without having to move more than a finger. "Savryn! I told you not to do that!" Ow pain, much pain....figured on a day when he wasn't feeling well and damn the 'don't talk to her like you're her father' lecture of earlier. It wasn't the first time, but he hadn't told anyone she could do it either.
Which his yelling got more frustrated motions from her before she promptly turned and stomped off with the ring of something crashing as she had bumped into it in the next room. Another thing she had yet to master; anger clouding her focus. When Savryn got upset there were always more broken things in the house.
Piper glanced back, giving him one of those 'everything is alright' smiles. He always worried when she got overly quiet at any moment and he had the right too she supposed. It was endearing in a way. Though the outburst at the opposite end of the table drew her attention and brought up her own worries. That wasn't good at all. Piper gave a sigh and pushed back her chair to get up before Fianna had as well. "I have to go get her before she hurts herself."
"I'll watch her, you sit." They all knew that Piper spent a lot of time watching after the girl. Little elves needed a lot of attention and Savryn more so. Fianna had decided already that Piper was getting a break. Her and Kieran could spend more time with the girl and Piper could relax not having to trail her the whole time. Then a point at Kieran. "And you behave yourself too." Thusly heading out of the room to the sound of another obvious sound of falling.
Sitting back down she gave another look over to Malik. "I told you, I don't want this magic thing to get out of hand. We don't know what she can do naturally yet." Giving a pointed look down to Dhairiss who was trying to recover himself and giving a nod to his grandfather who was asking if he was okay.

"which means, Dhariss, that the first time she was able to do that to you, you should have said something. what would you have done if somewhere down the line she decided to learn how to put what she did to more harmful talent. or released something she wasn't sure about. that technique of transferal is the exact same as a Harm Touch. and that could be a lot more dangerous."
not making too big a deal out of it, since he knew his youngest son wasn't overly fond of people prodding at him. much like his mother.
"We'll have Zahara give you another look over just to be on the safe side. consider it a future safety precaution."
If she'd hit him with that kind of thing before and he'd not said anything for all they knew it could be aggravating his heart condition more.

"Because I usually don't think that a magic shock is something to write home about." Or at least that's what he had been figuring she was doing and he was just feeling icky afterwards because he was the weird one. But here his father was talking about transferal and what not. "Zahara should get a raise at this rate." Rubbing at his chest some, not that it helped but it made him feel better to feel like he was doing something. "Gets that tantrum streak from Khai..." Mumbling under his breath some.
Despite her mother having gone to handle the little one, Piper still gave a rub at her temples with a sigh. Kids, it always seemed the older they got the more trouble the found. "Well, someone is a quick learner if anything when it comes to some subjects."

Giving that a moment.
"you're probably right. I'll make a note of that."
Before reaching over and lightly rubbing his wife's back, glancing over at kieran.
"and why is she telling you to behave? what do you know or have knowledge of that your not allowed to tell me about, hmm?"
grinning lightly over at him.

"Oh she just doesn't trust me after we come here and haven't been around in a while. She expects me to grab you and drag you off to show me something that will make me as excited as a child getting a present. Which in turn makes you want to show off more and then we're both neglecting the women and we both get in trouble for being information hermits."

"You could have learned runes, too." Pointing that out just for argument's sake. "Of course I care and not just because somebody's got to." Shaking her head a moment and laying her head back against the couch's back.
Zahara was catching the feeling of annoyance from her husband, mostly because she was using her own energy up at an alarming rate and not replenishing. He'd get over it though. Really quickly. She caught what was going on and shook her head. "Come on, Dhairiss. I'll look over you and then Malik it's your turn and then I'm going home. You people have about worn me out today and I have to come back tomorrow to make sure Kaelin is doing better."

"Yes yes, my turn afterward, no problem."
Waving it away in a dismissive manner...before grinning lightly at Kieran.
"I don't have anything new to show you since the last time. I've been performing some experiments with lycanthropy victims, but nothing has come of it so far."

"I don't have the attention span for runes I'm pretty sure. I would just make my teacher angry. AKA your father." Shaking his head to that with a light snicker snort to the thought. Him doing runes, yeah right. "You care about me, I care about you and we're both hopeless. How's that for irony...is that irony? I never remember when it's appropriate."
Dhairiss gave a sigh, not going to get a second look over from her. "Hey look at it this way, seems like you're in for a raise or something equally fun." But getting up from the table and gesturing for her to lead on and he followed afterward for more poking.
"But that's technically new and something I would want to poke my nose into and thus it applies and she tells me to behave or I'm sure she'll think up something to punish me with. She can get very creative when she wants to and I'm supposed to be not stressing myself by running around like an excited child or something of the sorts."

"He's a lot more laidback than most think. More passive aggressive, I think. He'd just make you bleed from orifices you didn't even know you had." Giving him an amused grin and then shrugging. "I didn't pay attention in school when it came to that sort of thing. My mother would call it love but then my mother thinks a lot of things that aren't necessarily true."
"I need raises, I have lots of children to feed." Wrapping an arm around Dhairiss's shoulders to support him but using the friendly relative motive to do so. She sat him down and looked over his entire system, checking his heart. "That's quite a jolt of magic that you received. She's a drainer, Dhairiss. Be careful. I want you to take the rest of the day and night easy. I won't make you stay in bed but I don't want you doing anything to strenuous. You might need to learn how to block magical energies as well."
