To be perfectly honest, I only just barely got what you mean, but alright!
And ya know, I had a fairly decent laugh early this afternoon. 2+ years on Gaia for me and I only just now got my first attempted PM scamming. Ya know, the one where a n00b pretends to be a Mod and asks for your username and password? Not believing it for a millisecond, I laughed, reported it and went on about my day.
Stupid people can just be so damn funny, at times.

Every now and then, I get a PM from some n00b begging for gold. I send them on their way with a polite "No handouts, buddy", and continue with my day. If I had to earn the gold, so do they.
Also, I'm thinking of cosplaying as Gaara for the next Otakuthon. My buddy Mike is probably going as Kankuro, and I'll see if I can convince one of my friends to be Temari. That way, we'll have all three of the Sand siblings.
...
Yes, I am a physical incarnation of anime nerd.

I love getting those scams because no one is really fooled by them anymore except for new people (poor n00bs). I usually don't report people unless they really do something stupid and that's on the really stupid list.

I've never gotten a PM begging for gold, surprisingly.
I'm a lurker by nature though, I hardly post in the forums, that it, which might have something to do with it.

Yes, I would think. You'd probably have to PM the appropriate online Mod for that, as I don't think there's a working system for reporting users.

On the topic of scamming, I made a mule a few months ago and, within ten minutes of its creation, when I had sent some items over to it and made it look more expensive, I received two scam attempts within a minute of each other.
I literally laughed, replied with a "You're a blithering idiot who doesn't deserve access to the internet," and a report.
But that doesn't even come close to the VERY first scam attempt that I received... rofl
