Nehru TexasMomma Nehru TexasMomma Is it just me or is it as if are children have radar detection going on? Everytime I wake up in the morning and walk past my daughters door and get ready to have that cup of fresh coffee, my daughter wakes up. EVERYDAY SAME TIME....its like they know mom is trying to wake up, lets bug her. sorry TexasMomma we don't have radar detection, but we have other abilities you parents don't know about, liek those time when the room is a mess, it really was the boggeyman >_> 3nodding When I still lived at home, and my room was a mess I'd blame it on the dog...it worked! And when my parents told me to clean the mess...well lets just say im glade they never looked in the claset or under the bed. whee *knows what that is like* most of the time if my mom wouldn't clean my room, you could not see the floor. LOL If I went away for the weekend my mom would come in and clean my room for me.*Sighs* I had it made back then. I was the spoiled kid and I was the youngest. My step dad adored me and my mom loved me. aTo bad I grew up poor, sucked when I left home my dad got a new job where his getting paid 150K a year. DAMNIT the s**t I could have gotten if I grew up with that kind of cash.lol

I swear kids have a radar! Especially the, "Mommy hasn't had a lot of sleep *GIGGLE*" radar. stare There are days I stare at the clock and think, "Come on bedtime!" Just so I can get half a second of peace. Today we're having a whiney day. I'm going to absolutely scream.
As for mothers' cleaning kids' rooms? My mom cleaned my room once. She never did it again. Yeah, my room was messy but I knew where everything was. When she realized that she'd tossed a homework assignment the 'help' with the cleaning stopped. She felt so bad that she did it for me. lol. Poor woman.

Some kids don't ever loose the built in "radar" detection. My fifteen year old is home from school today with snot and blood kleenex going like crazy. (She woke up at 2am feeling bad, but came to wake me up at 5am to let me know she's sick - go figure!) I settle her in in the recliner, pour liquids down her, honey to soothe her throar, get her breakfast, make tea, administer DayQuil, run my husband to work, go grocery shopping pitch hitting it, report to insurance that a monster pick up truck rear ended me in traffic, etc., keep the fluids going, she's sleeping. All's well, right? Gotcha! Three pm (school gets out) on the dot: "Can I go on to the computer, Mom?" The rule is: if you're too sick to go to school, you're too sick to spend the day on Gaia and many other websites and/or games on the computer. scream domokun scream

You have to undersand that this kid is addicted to the computer and would rather be on the computer than at school, visit with real people, eat, sleep... The rule didn't just appear over night and it was established by teachers, school, and parents jointly. She IS, however, watching with me, today when she's awake, all of Studio Ghibli releases that Disney FINALLY released: `The Cat Returns', 'Naussica', Panda!Go Panda!' and 'Porco Rosso'. xd

Sorry to hear that school was so bad (and it can be the pits depending on place, decade, etc) that you had to skip school to read books. It's not always that way in high school. I went to one where i read around the clock both before, during and after school. I lived in the library.

Schools can be so weird. I was learning how to read in first grade of course. I thought that was when kids were supposed to learn.

whee They start them off in Pre-K now, up in WI at least, and for sure by Kindergarten.
razz The south doesn't exactly have a good public education track record so I'm not surprised by the lack of standardization.
