Earendil laughed aloud at that. Just Miyuki's response ... touching it and calling it air. Still, at least she was calm, she wasn't freaking out and she wasn't running away.
"There we go," he grinned. "See, Miyuki? I told you so."

Miyuki looked back at Earednil and looked back at her mother. She touched her Mommy's face and her hair and her wings and everywhere. It was her Mommy, she even smelled like her Mommy but why was Mommy's 'air' different?
"Air!"
"H-air... Har-air...." Lin tried again.

Earendil chuckled. "Hhhhhh ... hair," he tried to help out. Come on, Miyuki, you can do it!"
Haldia just watched them, giggling softly to herself. This was amusing, even if she couldn't really help out all that much.

Miyuki looked back and forth between the two figures in her life, "Hhhh... hhhh-air! Hair! Hair!"
Miyuki smiled happily at the new word, which described the black strains she liked on her Mommy so much.

Earendil grinned. "Good, Miyuki! Very good! You're a very fast learner."
He held his hands up for Lin to toss the ball to him. "Come on, let's play."

Lin chuckled at that, indeed Miyuki seemed to be a quick study. She tossed the ball lightly back to Earendil.
"Ball!" Miyuki's attention was once more caught by the flying object.
Now that the issue of her mother was all settled.

And so the afternoon passed with everyone having fun, and just before the dinner hour Amara emerged with the completed doll in hand. It was a veritable replica of Earendil, from his hair style right down to his clothes. She smiled as she approached the group.
"Here, Lin," she murmured, holding it out to her. "I thought you might like to be the one to give it to Miyuki."
Earendil stared at the doll. "Is that me?" he asked, astonished.

Lin giggled and blushed, she couldn't remember if Earendil had been aware that the doll was going to be model after him or not. Taking the doll she called out for Miyuki.
"Mummi?" Miyuki toddled over looking up expectantly.
Lin giggled as she knelt down so she could be closer to Miyuki's height, "This is for you, your own doll. So you won't be lonely or upset."
"Dil!" Miyuki took the doll in awe, it looked exactly like her Earendil.

Earendil chuckled. "I guess now we'll see if she comes running for me first thing in the morning again," he teased Lin. "And maybe when you have to go home again, she'll be all right."
Haldia peered down at the doll and giggled softly. It was indeed a replica of her friend ... it was very impressive.

Lin grinned, "You're still very close by, I don't think she would miss a chance to try and wake you up."
Somehow she found it very amusing.

Earendil grinned right back at her. "Well, we'll see."
Despite his cheerful outward appearance, he was a bit worried. If nothing ever happened with him and Lin, then it wasn't healthy for Miyuki to be obsessed with him like she was ... and yes, obsessed was exactly the right word.

"Dil! Dil!" Miyuki was perfectly content with such a doll.
She hugged it close and looked happily up at Lin and Earendil, her two tails waving.
Lin on her part noted in the back of her head didn't seem at all bothered by this as she ruffled Miyuki's hair. Of course Lin had dolls after people she knew, her parents specifically. But, Earendil wasn't Miyuki's father, and yet she thought he made a very good fit for one.
"I need to wake up and watch one day."

"Watch because it would amuse you?" Earendil quipped. "Or because you haven't yet seen her open a door on her own, which she has obviously been doing? Or because you think it would be funny to watch her wake me up?"
He chuckled softly. "Because I tell you, that first time it was really creepy. Woke up and there she was, on my bed, staring at me."

Lin had to laugh at that, she could kind of see why that would be creepy, "She stares like a fox sometimes, like the time she wanted your pie."
Somehow Miyuki learned without even meaning to, that staring instead of whining was the best way to get what she wanted.
"Though admittedly all of those reasons, I didn't even know she knew how to open a door."

"Well, clearly she knows how," Earendil chuckled.
Amara laughed, listening to the two of them. "Sounds like an adventure on its own. Anyways, you're welcome to stay for dinner, though I'm afraid we've nothing prepared. We won't hold it against you if you prefer to go back to the ranch or something ..."
Earendil turned to Lin. "What do you say?"
