what I meant to say is that the idea of "Flying with your mind" isnt all that new.
Certainly several newtypes from the Gundam series could go toe to toe against Ferno if he used the force as he claims he can, but your average robotech pilot would be screwed.

Redoing the pilot's chair for room to meditate, reworking the aerodynamics of the ship, etc.
