He blinked, then closed his eyes and snickered. "My god, you're the first person I've met here that either doesn't hate me or doesn't have some outragiously stupid angst, or some problem past that they tell me about the first time they meet me. As if I need to know some stranger's problems, I don't have a problem with strange things happening but hell...yeah, you get it." he glanced sideways with narrowed eyes and sighed. "Nice to see one of you isn't a whiny little freak telling me why it's so bad to be them. Hell, you laughed, I could be one of the youngest people here and I manage not to whine like a little b***h, I don't know what's with the rest of them. I came here to train, to fight, to find someone who can damn well teach me how to use my own power, maybe become better then I am now, not curl up in a corner and hope someone feels sorry for me." he plops himself down on the ground, sitting with his knees raised up.

Alef continued to smile, her humor obvious as he spoke. "I know, here one is forced into the part of listener to others problems..." She leaned back a little, letting her elbows rest on the edge of the spring. "I can say that it's also nice to talk to someone with out having to guess why they are so sad, or what happened to them. I can't say that I've never been that way, but you caught me on a good day... So, what is it that you are here to master?"

"Hmm...well how do I put this...?" he brought his left hand up from under his cloak, scratching at his chin. "Well, the old man says it's Light, but he also says it isn't the same 'Power of Light' that most have. Eehh..." he brought the same hand around to the back of his head, scratching lightly. "He wasn't too clear about it, actually. He told me I should come here to take lessons with my sword, but you know...he doesn't always know what he's talkin' about. I know I'm damn good with it, whatever...he's right about one thing, I gotta learn how to use this power. Trying it out and getting used to it's been pretty decent, but he said maybe a teacher or someone else might know a little more to help me out. That's all fine and good to me, means I'll be able to kick some a** and look even better doing it." he brought the hand back to his front, balling it into a fist as his expression turned from bemused to a determined grin.

Alef nodded listening quietly as he spoke. "I wonder what is different about it, but then again every one has their own different powers.... In the same case, I'm more of an elemental mage with fire and water, things such as that. Everytime you cast it, it is the same spell, even for someone else..." She shrugged a little. "I take it you are not exactly having the best time then?"

"Tch...you could say that." he looked off to the side again, shrugging as well. "These people wanna flirt and screw around, I caught a couple trying to do that last night even. That girl was naked and everything...eck...I'm here to train, to grow stronger damn it. Hell, I'm not one to mind a fine looking piece or anything, but you'd thing these people tried actually sticking to the things this school's suppose to be about instead of whining and bitching then f%$king the first pair of legs or bending over for the first d$%k they see. Is something wrong with me? Seems like there is, 'cause I havn't found anyone trying to f#&#xki;ng fight or anything. Sh#t, what am I here for if all I do is sit around listening to crap, it's really starting to piss me off."

Alef chuckled at his out look on this place, but he wasn't exactly all wrong. "I know what you mean, I guess they just don't want to be alone... As for fighting, people do spar, but it's hard to find someone in the mood for it."

It it it...it's like walking through Pheonix carrying a block of ice in your hands, or or...going to China and complaining about not having enough room, or bitching that it's too cold in Russia. It's just stupid! What's wrong with you people?" he moved a bit forward, going into a squat in front of her now.

Alef nodded a little and gave a small shrug. "I know what you mean, you would think instead of worrying about finding someone to fall back on, they would improve their powers so they could depend on themselves..." She looked up at him and studied his face for a moment. "Then again, I guess you don't seem like the kind of person who would ever let on you needed someone... Don't get me wrong, I'm not assuming that you do, but that seems the logic behind all the angst and finding someone around this place..." She sighed a little and shifted for a moment so she was sitting up a little straighter. "I would be completely lying if I said I never went out with anyone and had the whole mushy experience, but hey, sometimes it's not so bad." She shook her head realizing his rambling about things had started her own rambling. "What the hell do I know, I came here to learn, and I have improved my magic some what..."

"Hey hey hey, I never said..." he stood up, still keeping his eyes down upon her eyes, shaking his head. "Never said there was anything wrong with getting someone. Hell, not like I havn't done things, not like I havn't dated, but I don't need people to give a f#$king reason for me to live. I live for my life, not someone else's. I don't stand around moaping or wander around to find some b***h who'll cling to me and need me. All these people who need and have to be needed, it's pathetic. I found out a long time ago, and damn good thing too, that when all ou do is rely on someone else and need them, you end up screwing yourself. Big bad lessons like that never get taught in your f#@king schools. Angsty bitches can't take it so they waste their life over the stupid crap, that's not something I need." as harsh as his tone was, there was strangely a great deal of conviction within it, a sense of absolute belief in his own words that made his current expression all the more determined and fierce.

Alef nodded a little. "Allow me to correct myself, I did not intend to imply that you said there was anything wrong with it. I know what you mean though..." After a moment she stood up, noticing her fingers where getting a little prune-like from being in the water. Grabbing the towel she wrapped it around herself and sat down on a nearby bench. She let her gaze fall to the ground as she pondered what they had just been talking about. "Maybe we could spar sometime... It would be something to do anyway..."

"Eh?! Really?" he blinked at her with a miffed expression, then raised his left fist in front of his face with a wider grin. "Hehe! Yeah! 'Bout time someone offers me something of a challange. I havn't been in a really good fight in awhile. Just name the time and the place, and don't think I'll go easy on you 'cause you're a woman." he said with a great smile now on his face, like a triumph had occured.

Alef chuckled at how eager he was to get a good fight in. "My, that certainly lifted your attitude..." Standing up from the bench, she looked back into the springs. "If you're up for it, then give me ten minutes and meet me in the training room. We can spar there if you want..."

"Damn right, then in that case I'll be waiting for you!" he turned away quite quickly, facing the direction of the school. "Oh, and don't cry when I knock you on your a**." he laughed, running off away from the area, his cloak flowing steadily with the pace of his movements as he left.

Kayla looked confused. She sighed and shook her head, tightening the towel around her. She slowly left the hot springs. This school was just getting weirder and weirder, but alas, that is what life was like. Everything was full of surprises; you never knew what mother nature was going to throw at you next.

Van walked to the edge of the pool, there were so many people here.....he stepped down into the pool and relife came flowing through his body. He had been in training hall all day today, he wanted to work on his control. His sensei said if had that, he could go far, but sensei didnt relize this isnt something you can just control.
