on that, I"m planning on picking up a demon hunter's codex this weekend so I can take them as allie's. seam's like templar and GK would get along pretty well. after I get the codex I"m planning on using the calidus assasin and maybe a use their infantry as my troop choice's then use fast attacker's like bike's and land speader's to flank the enemy. I've just been getting tired lately of people using rightous zeal agains't me...

on a side note where can I get information on how templar behave and fight and their place in the imperium. I got into a discusion with a crimson fist's player about "the good old day's" and when he got talking about how his chapter works we're nothing alike. so I was wondering more about how templar behave and act.

Do you still nedd to take an inquisitor in order to have an assassin in your army. Its says you have to in order to have 'em in you daemon and witch hunters army, but i dont think it said in the allies section. you might wanna check on that.

Soak one squad at a time and leave nothing to run foward. If you do the foolish "Ok, weakened this squad by 50%, time for the next one", you'll have tons of powerful Templars still coming toward. Tons of Powerful, ANGRY templars. If you leave nothing but a red smear where they use to be, no Zeal moves foward.

Yeah, that's all well and good, but all compulsory troops/HQ choices must be taken from your own codex before you can select allies, which means in a standard mission, you still need at least two of your Black Templar Crusader squads. I mean, it's not really a Black Templar army using allies if you only have a few Black Templars after all....

And as Samulin questioned, to take an assassin you still need to take an Inquisitor first, or at least, that's the impression I was given.

well, as far as I've read and seen they can be taken in any inquisitor army without the need of an inquisitor. but I'm waiting for the codex to come in so untill then I can't find out.

I re-read what I said and what I ment to say was that I would take grey knight's troop's to support my own. not leave them to do shooting because my lascannon keep's moving out of cover and it's anoying. I want them as a heavy support helper (troop's with heavy weapon's don't get confuzed.)

also a thing that's been played on me is have stealth suit's so that if templar do get close then you can stick them as a meat shield and you get to strick first. also try using your broadside's to lure the templar away. rightous zeal make's them move for the closest visible enemy unit, so stick a squad of broad suit's to move out lure them away then pull them back in the assault phase.

Then you read wrong. I'm a Daemonhunters player and have the codex infront of me. It specifically says that to take any member of the Officio Assassinorium an Inquisitor or Inquisitor Lord must be present in the army.

I also wouldn't suggest taking Grey Knights to try and support your troops, seeing as they cost quite a bit per model, and using them to try and keep your Templars from being shot is going to award the enemy a hefty sum of victory points. Go with Imperial Storm Troopers, mounted in a Chimera. Now that is a useful support.

If you don't want some more hitting power though, Grey Knight Terminators are a must. Gotta love stength six power weapon attacks coming in at weapon skill five. Hehe, Grey Knight termies have never failed me yet.

Either that, or just take a fire warrior squad for each of his templar squads. Like if he has 4 troops, you take two troops
God knows that at 30" you'll be able to hit em a number of times before he gets close enough

You'd be surprised... Black Templars can move very fast under fire, especially a Templar Assault squad. *Shudders* I've had game where I only got off one round of shooting against them...

assault squad's dont' get to use the zeal move, they should just be moving like regular vanilla marine's.

well, if he's good with grean stuff enough seal's on a marine and paint em black they'll look like templar and fit right in.

so i'm starting a new space marine army to play by the new rules and i'm just curious as to what the best heavy weapon is for close ranges in a fast attack army

Assasins requiers the presence of an Inquisitor/Inquisitor lord.
Without these two, no assasins in the game.
I usually buy the lord one simply because more hencmans to give him the needet shielding and since I only get to use them as allies, 1 HQ and 1 elite
feels alot in army choices.... sweatdrop

Marines can be quite weak againts armyes with massed fire-powers,
exspecially when consentrating many of your units firings. ninja

As for short range heavy weapon for fast army:
MultiMelta would sound like a perfect fit for that kind of a army. 3nodding
Range 24", S8, AP1 and 2D6 dices againts tanks in 12" can cause alot of headache to enemy forces with tanks. sweatdrop
You can even spook the termies with that think. ninja
