It doesn't bother me that scientists get paid what they do. It does bother me that more money is spent paying athletes than is spent on funding medical research though. The scientists knew that they wouldn't be making big bucks, but that they only get a little bit of money to work with when we waste so much of it is unforgivable.

Yeah, scientists aren't (or shouldn't) be in it for the Benjamins. It sucks when they don't receive proper funding, though.

The one thing that bugs me with that is teaching. Teaching is a really low paying job when you compare to others. It the one of the only things required by law that everyone must go through, school. But because there are so many teachers it is also one of the lowest paying careers.

Not terrible. Had a good couple of days. Got to work out, enjoying some of the sketches I have tried to draw, swam today, Haven't been listening to a lot of music though. I am at one of my in between phases where I have milked my enjoyment out of the electronica genres for the season and I gotta listen to other stuff for a while to recharge. I wanna start with some oldies, then maybe a little classical, lil bit of grunge, and hopefully I can hunt down some good rap so I don't have to listen to the like, 4 rap songs I like to get my fix on that XD How about you?

I agree with what Allegro is saying too. I want to teach for a living. I'm not going into it for the money. I know that I am not going to be a millionaire, or anything close to one. My definition of being successful is making a difference in kids lives and doing what I love doing for a living. However cliched that is, its true.

So the public, inadvertently or knowingly, is responsible for atheletes and actors' million dollar paychecks. Taxes and government, I think, fund the abysmally lean teacher salaries. Poor/lack of education stimulates the aforementioned entertainment industry.
Do you agree? And can this be balanced? No offenses from me, correct if I'm wrong. I'm just looking for discussion. smile

Oh definitely society is the problem here. Maybe if people stopped showing up at baseball games and stopped watching every single stupid movie that came out they would have more money that they wouldn't care about the government taking to pay the teachers, but as you know, nobody wants those evil taxes raised, and even if they do the dumbasses that we elect cant funnel it into the right places.
@ reg, good for you bud.

The reason athletes and actors get paid so much is because companies can afford to do so. If Lebron James got put on another team, so do his profits. Jerseys with his names on them, shoes, things he endorses. People buy stuff by these people, thats why they can be paid so much.
