She frowned despite her blindfold and looked to where she thought her brothers were, looking for some more guidance on the matter rather than him just telling her what to do and expecting it to happen. After all, her former practices with base magics had been halted after her accident as she wasn’t strong enough to do them anymore without making herself more ill. Needless to say there was a learning curve she was battling here.
Khai looked to his siblings as his brother looked to him as if at a loss of how exactly to tell this one to her. He knew however…and everyone in the room may not like what he was going to say but it would make her understand. Savryn did have a talent that the rest of them seemed to lack and it tied in with things of life and death quite well.
“Savryn.” Saying it once to make sure he had her attention before he continued on. “It’s like when mommy is sick and you know she is before everyone else does. The times when you know even before daddy does. You know, when you say you feel the odd things in the air…and then you make her feel better so she’s not as sick as she could be.” It was an odd occurrence…something the two of them shared perhaps from what they had been through together, and something that strengthened with his sister’s second near death experience. Like she knew how to get in touch with something the rest of them couldn’t. “When you ask the bad to go away. You need to think like you do when you want to do that. Your friend wasn’t feeling well…I bet he could use some soothing too. Focus on him.”
Oh. That feeling. As she didn’t have a specific vein or concept of magic she really hadn’t been sure of what he was asking of her, but she knew what her brother was talking about for sure. A nod and she turned her head, attention directly settled on the draithix which was something in itself as she never directly pinpointed things too much with head direction. She’d just do what she did with mommy…find the bad spot and tell it to be good so it wouldn’t bother anymore and focus on his eyes because she was told to.
She was quiet for a long moment, wishing in her own head for things like she usually did with mommy before the draithix suddenly seemed surprised and she did as well, making a noise and turning into Dhairiss for comfort as the draithix turned around in circles, looking at various people and things in rapid nervous fashion. He was feeling funny and she wasn’t used to seeing anything anymore.
“There’s a saying that I heard from humans that is quite grand despite what they lack. ‘Home is where the heart is’. Doesn’t matter where you are really, a place is just a place and a house is just a house. It takes you to make it a home. You can have many homes and just because you live in one doesn’t mean that the other is no longer any less of a home or that you can’t come back here whenever you please.”
Those girls were crazy and it seemed nothing was going to change their minds about each other. He had long ago given up trying to convince them of anything that was right. Yes she was trying to get him on her side as she main his brain stop and his eyes half close, that lop sided grin spreading across his face. One of those totally content looks. “Whatever makes her happy.”

Malik glanced at the iksar, that gave a small nod.
"Do not hide your face. You musst control your ssight. without control, your friend will panic. without control he will not wissh to sshare hiss ssight."
The iksar's tail moved and poked her, jabbing at her side and her legs.
"If you want me to sstop. you will have to ssee my tail. you will have to be able to sstop it yourself."
Malik looked at the draithix, and glanced at his daughter.
"It's like Delta. she has a dog that leads her, that sees for her. he can see for you, but you have to tell him where to go. you have to tell him in your head where he will understand and listen to you."

Dhairiss of course wasn’t having that and he grabbed the offending tail, twisting it around and over his wrist in what he knew was painful even for his kind. “Do that again and I’ll lop it off and feed it to the nightmares.” He wasn’t going to have him bully his sister into accomplishment on the matter, even if it would help. She had enough to worry about and didn’t need to worry about being poked and tormented to learn something. Firm warning in place he let the tail go and turned his attention back to his sister.
He pulled her makeshift blindfold off, noticing the slight green sheen over her clouded eyes. “It’s okay Savvy.” Before he made a few noises at the draithix, getting it’s attention by familiar sounds and calming it some. They were freaking each other out and weren’t going to get to calm each other down without some help. Why was this so hard to understand for these people? Pushing her didn’t help in first steps. It was like giving her a basket of lemons and limes and telling her to separate them without explaining what made them different and what made them what they were. He didn’t like this at all. “Just concentrate. You know what I look like, just look for me. Then look for Khai. Do what dad says and tell him to look for me and Khai.” Giving a frown to his father and then over to the necromancer as well. “You can push after you give the basics and not before.” Defying his father’s methods? Didn’t care either, he could be angry with him.
Was this supposed to be easy and she was doing it wrong? Because they didn’t seem happy about it and she sure didn’t appreciate it when he started to poke and her either. She didn’t do anything bad! She was trying and it was hard and it made her head hurt! However, Dhairiss had always been quick to soothe her when things were wrong, and break things down another step as well. She took a moment to gather herself before pushing away from her brother some more but let him hold onto her still. Okay then…tell him in his head to look for her brothers. Just look little friend. Khai looked like daddy but had red in his hair. Dhairiss looked like mommy but was a boy.
Behind her the little draithix was quite calm now and sniffing and twitching his ears, blinking a few times before his head turned one way and stared at the people in the room, searching between them before he settled his gaze on Malikhai and watched him for a moment. It gave a chirp and then he turned his head the other way to look at them again before stopping on Dhairiss and watching him. Savvy reached out a hand to her brother’s arm, tracing the blue lines on his shoulder. She didn’t remember those but her fingers traced the color perfectly.

the iksar hissed and Malik put his hand up, stopping what was going to be a retaliation before it started.
"this is the basics, Dhairiss. we're not pushing. the draithix is an animal, and like an animal it must be commanded when it needs to do things. granted it's a negative reinforcement probably, I'll give you that. but it is still not pushing."
glancing at her finger tracing his youngest son's tattooing. hmm. those turned out useful after all. She seemed to be doing it...not lets give her a different test.
"Okay Savyrn. One more thing. You're doing a very good job. this is going to be a little tougher, though so don't be frustrated if you don't get it this time."
Malik got down on a knee, and picket out three bonechips, one plain one, one painted red, and one painted black.
"I have three pieces of bone in my hand. I want you to pick the one that's the color of the dyed portion in Malikhai's hair."
See how well she could get him to see and help her judge distances.
"Let your friend walk with you, and let him see for you."

"Exactly, it's negative reinforcement. There's more than one way to do something. Find another or leave her alone till you can." Nope, really didn't care if he was being disrespectful or anything...he never let anyone hurt his sister in any way that he could prevent. His attention being drawn back to his sister at her tracing. They all knew that he didn't have those when she was little, so her acknowledging the patterns meant she was indeed seeing something or other.
So was she doing it wrong or not? This was confusing. They were arguing but she was getting positive reinforcement at the same time with praise. Well then if she got to pick, then she was going to go with good things were happening. Turning her attention from her brother she, and the draithix for that matter watched what Malik was doing. It was hard to see though...everything seemed fuzzy and clouded and wavy.
Letting go of Dhairiss she walked over to where the draithix was felt and took hold of his tail and gave him a bit of a forward tug to get him to walk with her...usually he just bounded around her boots as he pleased. But she made him behave and let him see like she was told, walking a bit slower than usual as she was trying to not do her usual things such as counting her steps.
However Malik was right about her inability to visually judge things anymore. It probably didn't help that her own depth perception didn't match that of a draithix and she was using his eyes. The two had stopped a coupld of feet from the bone chips, Savryn reaching out to grab one but nowhere near it. At least she was reaching for the right color. She tried to correct herself, moving father or closer as she thought needed but she either overshot or undershot her target. He said don't be frustrated but it was hard. Eventually she frowned and both her and her friend looked up at Malik. "I can't do it." Upset and anger both in her voice on the matter.

Malik gave a look to Dhairiss that said he was crossing a line there that he shouldn't be crossing. And Malik was not above punishing his children in creative ways if need be.
But he put the bonechips away and gave his daughter a kiss on her forehead.
"You did do it. your depth perception was off, but that's to be expected. you did however get the right piece of bone each time. Feel free to walk around, and see how long you can hold his vision. how about you go see your mother and Kaelin."
The iksar watched with zero emotion and malik gave him a dismissal gesture, to which he nodded and left to go back down stairs to his other projects and practices.
Letting his daughter do as she would, he looked to his too boys.
"And you chores will be to help her with this. Malikhai you are stronger with magic, so you will help S'Athir teach her. I know the iksar can be blunt and rather harsh, it's your job to temper that for her. and Dhairiss, your the one most gifted with animals. it'll be your task to help her work with the draithix, and later on with the bird of prey we'll find for this."

Quietly saluting Dhairiss for his quick involvement, she continued to watch the proceedings. Piper's words had been processed and brought a great deal of comfort to Kaelin. But still, it wasn't entirely clear why Malikhai was so adamant about such things. Perhaps his mother knew? She tensed slightly as Savryn began getting upset decided rather quickly that she didn't like the Iksar at all. "I don't understand his need for privacy, I suppose. What's so different just because we married?"
A victorious grin drifted over her own face and she leaned closer to give his ear a nice little nibble as well. Yes, it was cheating and playing dirty and all of those things, but she hardly cared at the moment. "I think sex will and even if it doesn't, it'll be nice to know that she's at least attempted it. Now, I believe you were saying something earlier about distracting me...?"

He didn’t mind the look as he knew he was going to get it but he just didn’t care. Someone had to look out for her. But that all passed as new assignments were given out in the next moment. He crossed his arms lightly over his chest, “Better get an egg when the time comes.” He knew first hand that if you were going to be friendly with birds they better be hand reared from hatchlings.
Hopefully with more just the magic theory over the actual class of magic. Because he really wasn’t too interested in any more necromancy than he knew of as it still had a tendency to creep him out. “Fair enough.”
Forehead kiss! Those were always good. Even though she hadn’t grabbed the pieces, she at least had inclined toward the right one and that earned reward. But a not to him and she tugged at the creature again and stopped to look around a moment. Two people over there. She knew that was mommy for sure, so that meant this is what Kaelin looked like now. Really different from what she remembered. She meandered over to them, ramming right into Kaelin’s knees however. Okay…the depth perception thing was getting painful and frustrating to deal with.
"Because now that you're married, you don't have to tip toe around each other for the benefit of others around you. Sometimes that's no fun to do with an audience at all. Affection and intimacy are sometimes best enjoyed in somplace private that no one else has access to but you, especially when you want that. It's never fun when people walk in on you in moments you'd rather they not. Though it can be amusing at the same time.
Stupid woman was playing dirty and it wasn't fair. She knew that he got agreeable/moronic when she played with his ears, he couldn't help it. "Or it could be horribly embarassing and turn her off completely to it." He was still fighting somewhat, if it could be called fighting. "Now you're lying..." Not that he seeme to care as he let his hands take back to her body as she was playing with proverbial fire."

Piper was given a thoughtful frown. "But what's wrong with you seeing us kissing or cuddling? You and Malik don't feel the need to hide away when you do such things either." Her hands were out to help guide the child if she needed it but even she was stunned into immobility when Savvy kept coming regardless of her knees being in the way. Reaching out to steady her, she lifted the little girl onto her lap and gently pressed a kiss to her cheek. "Are you alright, Sweetheart?"
"Very true. Which is why I'm suggesting she be the one to seduce Mykorian. He's been sniffing around her for years and if I'm correct, it won't take much if she puts even a bit of the wiles she was born with to use. She's a beautiful girl and Mykorian has noticed." Her lips curved once more and she leaned in and brushed his lips with hers even as his hands took to her body. "You might not have said it, but you were most definitely thinking it."

"depth perception I think will be her hardest problem with this right now. she's a natural talent for the dark art."
probably again a twist of fate from their near death experience. it was true she seemed to be able to will her mother into better states of health. but probably it was some kind of necromantic or clerical trick she could command without realizing it.
"Dhairiss, this attitude of yours had better leave, and quickly. I know you are watching out for your sister, it's an admirable trait. but you're crossing the line. She can't be coddled or cared for every time someone raises a voice or says something that you don't approve."
looking at his youngest.
"Her blindness does not mean that things have to be tempered all the time. In many cases negative reinforcement can do wonders where positive methods fail. there was a very clear method to S'Athir's prodding. to stop his prodding, she'd have to be able to get the draithix to move on command and strengthen her vision enough to see his tail moving with enough time to stop it."
glancing at Malikhai.
"I'm sure your brother can tell you that there's a sense of disorientation and time lapse, if you will when you attempt these things early on. he was testing her limits."
looking over at his daughter.
"But she has done a fine job, and with time and training it'll get better. it may not be permanent, but she can see again. and that is what is important. depth perception and such will come with time."

And here was the reprimand. "It's not everytime someone raises a voice or says something. My point is that your henchmen can't treat her like they did me and Khai. What are they going to do if she get's frustrated? Just keep forcing her until she gets it right without breaking it down to something she gets. I get what he was trying to do but I don't see how you can both think she's visually capable enough to reach a reaction speed like that at first go. You'd get farther with her if you told her she was doing a good job than poking at her."
"Enough Dhairiss. I know you like to play like you're her father most days but you're not and don't open your mouth to say why you act that way. She'll be fine." Dhairiss ahd the habit of trying to act that way as he spent the most time with Savvy aside from their mother and he perhaps was a tad more sensitive ot how things in the house could be considering her at times. Khai on the other hand was more understanding of the whole matter and didn't let it get to him. He stared at his brother until he was sure the other wasn't going argue the point anymore before he turned his attenion back to his father. "If anything, once she figures something out she's motivated to do it until it's second nature and we all know that. There's plenty of examples of that in her." She had mapped the whole house out practically, and she was quite proud about the boot lace tying thing here recently.
"It's the things beyond kissing and cuddling dear that tend to sneak up on couples when they think they're alone." Not that her and Malik personally cared who saw what they did when as they owned the place but their bedroom was still nice as it meant no interruptions. Cringing lightly though as Savvy was testing things out.
Long used to bumping into things, it didn't phase her too much. "I'm fine." Squinting her eyes some as she still couldn't control the little thing completely and didn't know how to dim what he was looking at. But she took her time to play with Kaelin's hair some as it was styled right quite fancy when everyone else in her family didn't really have fancy hair.
"And then if she sleeps with him and things go badly she's lost her best friend to awkwardness and what not, which knowing her, she won't be able to get past to actually have any sort of relationship with him. You see, you just think that I'm not paying attention." Smirking again however. "What makes you think you know what I'm thinking?"

Her ears twitched at Malikhai's voice but she was paying far more attention to Savryn and Piper. Letting Savvy play with her hair as much as she wanted, she combed her own fingers through the child's and thought for a moment. Nope, still confused. "Khai and I talk and sometimes he poses and I paint and sometimes he brushes my hair for me." She was silent for another long moment and then she snapped her fingers. "The noise. He said we needed our own place because of the noise. And we do make a lot of noise."
"So maybe we should potion her up beforehand or make sure there's a candle lit in her proximity." Shaking her head. "I never thought I'd have to use those for my children." Frowning up at him. "Because I know you. You think it's a bad idea?"

"At least we've proven it can be done. that it works. and right now that is the important part. her talents and skill will grow and get stronger over time. and she'll learn about depth perceptions."
Then a slight grin to himself.
"I think I found another thing you can be useful with, Dhairiss."
Clapping his hands to get his daughters attention.
"Savyrn. we're going to try something else. you know what you've been doing with you friend...try it on your brother, Dhairiss."

"Things take time, it just may take her a little longer. Just have to see where she goes with this all. What comes of it comes of it."
"You can't be serious..." Grumbling under his breath even as his sister had wandered back over with draithix in tow, putting out a hand to plop on her head to stop her from running into him before kneeling down to her level. He's let her try. "Give it a shot kiddo."
She was having her own fun in her own way, though she was a little stumbly on her way back to the boys, though not from foul steps these times. Feeling a little whoozy but not enough to complain about it in her opinion. She let Dhairiss stop her and then watched him as he came down to her level. "Like with mama?" Getting a nod from him and she nodded back, letting her hands come up to touch his face and fingertips to brush over his eyes before resting them at his temples. A few moments later got a cringe out of both of them and her taking her hands off of him, along with the freak out of a little draithix.
Piper had the feeling that Kaelin had had a serious disconnect from the topic here, and that maybe they'd never been on the same page to begin with at all. Oh boy. That was interesting or concerning maybe. A look over to the menfolk then back to Kaelin. Reaching over she took hold of Savvy and pulled her over, pressing a kiss to her temple as Malik was getting her attention. "You say with the boys okay?" Getting herself up she motioned Kaelin to follow. "Savryn will be fine, come on let's have some girl talk."
Malik did get that 'you better not let anything happen' look before she led Kaelin off in casual ease. Ther was a problem to solve here if there was indeed a problem to begin with. "So...what did you two do on your first night as a married couple?" Casual question and what not that usually has specific answers.
"Candles and potions are great and all, but you can still regret things later. Remember all that we went through? Granted I'm on the far end of a twisted scale but still." Though while she frowned he remained his rather stoic self. "I think most things are bad ideas. Faate is a lot like me, which while not a good thing makes her predictable. "I think she needs a talk before a drugging."

Uh-oh...Piper had the look. Kaelin hated the look. Malikhai had given it to her many times when she said something that shocked or surprised him and others in the house had often worn it as well. She'd learned early on that her life had been unlike most children's and that sometimes unnerved her. "Um...Malikhai insisted I take a bath even though I'd had one that morning. And he wouldn't let me bathe myself either. He did it."
She stood up from the chair she'd plopped into then so her mother-in-law couldn't see how agitated she was becoming. How to tell her that her son...was not quite right. "I finished my bath, he kissed me a couple of times and then we went to reverie."
"Yes, that was a mess, wasn't it?" And had caused her oldest untold problems. "I was planning on talking to her. I'd like to mention seducing Mykorian and let her have the volition to act on it. Maybe planting the seed in her mind will be enough. Even if she can't go through with it, if she has a desire to then we can regroup and I can give her any number of things to help with it." Meeting his gaze yet again. "I'm not about to let our daughter go in blindfolded, Sevilin. And I certainly don't want her to have negative feelings about something that is so wonderful."
