A hibachi grill is where you sit around a table that has a big range to cook on in the middle. A chef cooks the food right in front of you, and sometimes they do really cool things like flip shrimp tails into their pockets and make onion volcanoes. It's lots of fun!
Edit: And since the tables are so big, you usually sit with another family, unless you have a big group.

Hibachi resturaunts have little grills on the tables. You order whatever meat you want and grill it yourself at the table. The grills are designed to cook the meat fast and effeciently -- when the meat is done, everyone takes off their portions and eats it on rice or whatever else they've ordered. It's very fun. And tasty!  Edit: Or you have a chef grill it for you. sweatdrop I've just been to the places where you cook the food yourself.

At one of the hibachi places I've been to, the chef flipped zuchini slices into everyone's mouth.

Umm the japanese hibachi's arent really grills thats an american thing I forget what my gradfather said it was but I think there a fireplace like thing not a grill that warms the room I have a little staute of one and some other japanese house hold items.

Just like I said "Original "hibachi" in Japan doesn't mean a cooking grill but a kind of fireplace or heater, so no Japanese can imagine the use of "hibachi" in the US"
