A soulless person keeps their intelligence and their basic sense of self... but loses their core spiritual component. Forget altruism... without a soul, it's pretty much back to the laws of the jungle, ethically. With other people, it wouldn't make much of a difference... but against my dad's better judgement, I have to say that Faust might actually be better off dead."

"Your own son-in-law?" Mephistophiles asked, amazed that the man had been able to listen through the kind of pain Faust had inflicted on him. "Come on... I'm sure that Netsubo is too happy that he's alive at all to care that he's a soulless creature instead of a complete human being..."

Hatori gritted against the pain. What he had to do was more important that the pain he was in,"Oh don't worry. She'll be dying with him!"He spat.

"It is?" Faust asked, tilting his head as if such a concept were completely alien to him.
"NO, it's not!" Yuki shouted.

Netsubo glared at Hatori,"So you think that just because someone sees things that you don't believe,that's a right to kill them!?" Lataru had felt Netsubo's fear closeby and had followed them. She hung back, awaiting orders.
Hatori glared back,"You dare speak to me that way?!"

Faust was starting to look a little bit pale. Without context or the guidance of a soul, he was feeling very lost.
"Yeah, she does!" Yuki shouted at him. "You just try to come near my mother! Just try!"

"Oh, I'll do more than try!" Hatori snarled, advancing forward, wincing with every movement of his leg.
Netsubo glared at him then took up her short sword. Lataru had brought it with her and was now next to Netsubo. They oversouled. Hatori stared in shock and horror.

Yuki smiled. "Ha! I bet you weren't expecting that!" he looked at Faust. "Get up and help Mom! What are you doing?"
Faust stared up at him. "I can't do that," he said, pointing to the oversoul. "Mine is gone..."

Hatori stared at the sword,"W-what is that?"He tried to back away, but his leg gave out on him. He tumbled to the ground in pain.
Netsubo's face was impassive. She so wanted to strike him, but knew that if she did, she'd be no better than he was.
