The day that he was to falter in his personal convictions wasn't some far off day however, he was a thing in the midst of evolution. It was not that difficult to change the boy's mind about certain thing so long as the thing in itself had a valid reason. True, it was more often the case that rather then changing his mind overall it merely gave him greater understanding by showing him a different view point, but there had been far too many times that he had learned something, or realized something that had completely changed the way he'd looked at something, reversing or at the very least, altering, his opinion on a matter. He was, as such, open to being corrected, even if it didn't always prove a simple task. He was willing to listen, ironically something that his clan as a whole often weren't. It was of a strange sort've poetic irony that a clan who could hear perhaps better than any other...was unwilling to listen...

It was rather amazing how far he'd managed to come in so short a time, merely because the force and motivation to move forward had awakened within him. He suspected, no, knew for a fact, that merely a few short days ago, no, this very morning, this jutsu would have been beyond him. Now his speed was enough to facilitate the levels required by the technique, even if he was having to work on it. This was something that he could pull of though...after merely standing on his own feet and trying. It was a little illuminating really, even if it did make him wonder if it was merely his own natural talents that allowed this...or the intensity with which he was now pushing himself... As with all things, he decided, that it was not one answer. It was most likely both in unison. Harmony was often the secret to all truths, and indeed, the nature of the universe itself. as chaotic as it all sometimes seemed, even within the seemingly most catastrophic din, one could always make out a faint rhythm amidst the madness...

With his own abilities, he himself could often hear such a song not merely metaphorically, but literally, amidst even the most discordant series of noise. In a crowded market place, in a rain storm, within a room filled with pulsing voices. There was a pattern, a rhythm, a harmony. It was difficult to pick it out sometimes, hard to really place it's particulars or it's entirety as a whole... but Byakuran could catch echoes of it... glimpses, through the haze. It was as though standing in a world of mist, but through it the imcomparable haze one could see a glimmer of golden surroundings. Mist...
Mist was a very odd thing. It nothing more then water that had evaporated into the air, hanging thickly before the eyes. It was the same the clouds above, merely brought down to far lower elevation. But... to the eyes of humans, it had become something else altogether. A thing of mystery, a thing of magic and shadowy dealings... it brought forth so much meaning, so much interpretation, so much symbolism.... the human perception was an odd thing.

It made shadows into fear, it made the sun into joy, it made the flowers into beauty, it made the ocean vast, the mountain's tall. For even the ocean was merely an ocean, the mountain a mountain, inconsequential in the vastness of the world, until looked at through the perspective of humans. By perceiving things, humans gave them meaning, gave them purpose and intent. It was theorized in many religions, the Otobe in particular, though they withheld the comparison to themselves alone, that the maker of universe had made humanity in his image. Byakuran agreed with this assumption wholeheartedly. For though all one could really fathom about such an entity was that he he created the universe, humans themselves, though they were but small little things amidst this creation, were within themselves far more vast and meaningful then the entire universe could be without them in it. For it was humans and their ability to perceive things which gave them any sort of meaning in the first place.

But then, Byakuran mused, did the idea that the Otobe were superior stem from this? He hadn't actually thought of that. Perhaps, in the beginning, they had originally been thinking along the same lines, that perception gave the universe it's true meaning, and that because the Otobe could perceive more they were inherently better then everyone else. Still... he didn't really think that checked out. after all, even if their senses were superior, that was merely half the process of perception. It was a interpreting what one was able to sense, and in that regard, he didn't really see how anyone could, philosophically, be better then the rest.
Still... that was, a bit too deep to going into at the moment. He was starting to think that he was getting the hang of his speed. It was controlled now, able to be focused the into the bursts that the jutsu was describing. It was merely a matter of being able to do it every time, flawlessly. A technique he was going to be using as often as the shunshin couldn't afford to flaw...lest it only build as he grew stronger until the tiny flaw became a gap between him self and one who had truly mastered it...

In the end, talent, and being someone who was motivated to succeed, they were two elements of the same winning formula. Without one, the other was not complete. Yet even so... there was something to be said about who one who had the indomitable will to succeed even if they didn't have the natural talent to assist their ambition. Yes... something, at least. Those doomed to fail because they simply didn't have the power to fulfill their dreams. Byakuran wasn't entirely sure what it was, of course, but he was sure that there was something. There an emotion that welled up in him, and, though he couldn't be sure, in almost every person... they wanted to see the one who didn't seem to have a prayer, the one that didn't seem to have shot in the dark... they wanted to see him triumph, they wanted to see him win. Byakuran was no different. He liked to be surprised by the potential of others... even if he tried to make a point not to be merely for the sake of properly sizing up his potential opponents.

And everyone was his potential opponent. It was merely a truth of his life. He hadn't really taken notice of it enough to actually be depressed by it. It was merely a fundamental fact of his life. From the moment he had been thrust into his current life style, there was not a single person in the entire world whom he could fully and completely trust. It just wasn't really logical. Every single person, on either side of his rather complicated situation, was a potential enemy if he handled himself even slightly out of conduct. If he allowed for the worst case scenario, then indeed, every single person that he'd ever met would be his enemy... He'd even heard Kyojin senpai was working for his family now, so it was almost all too close to a reality. Everyone he'd ever met... so yes, yes he did view everyone as a potential enemy, merely because it was fact. Even his contacts, roughly the closest thing to parents he'd ever considered as such, were his prospective foes if he chose to side against his family in the end... even so. It didn't bother him. It was no more a troubling fact to him then the fact that the sky was blue. It was just another truth...

He zipped up into the open canopy above the trees of the grove, sticking himself to top of the steam of one of the many trunks, staying still now as he nodded to himself absently, apparently more then content with his results. Yes, this would do nicely. He was more then ready to face the second phase of the jutsu now. He reached back and once more pulled out the scroll. standing rather resolutely atop the tree, it's swaying doing little to bother him, rooted to it by chakra as he was. The first phase looked as though it was most certainly the more difficult of the two, at least for a ninja of his own abilities. The second was merely a chakra control exercise, and that was more then within his realm of assured talents. Putting the scroll back away in his pack behind him, he took a deep breath, and began to focus his chakra into his legs. Using chakra in the souls of his feet already was such a trivial matter to him at this point it didn't interfere with the task at all.
all he had to do was enhance the chakra within him, and combine it with the singular bursts of speed he'd been practicing...if he did it right... presto.

As he'd suspected, this phase of the training was merely a formality, his skills with chakra manipulation more then enough to glide him through the process without much trouble. The key was focusing the chakra in the legs to sync with the legs during their bursts of speed, for him it was merely a matter of practicing and refining the process, everything else would fall into place. He supposed this was to be expected. His own brains were nothing to snuff at, and given his birthright as an Otobe he was naturally predispositioned to being able to control his chakra. It was going to make it hard trying to dissuade his families beliefs if they kept proving themselves to have a solid foundation. He gave a slightly humored chuckle. In all seriousness though, he found it a relief when his place in his clan actually paid off... it was a lovely change of pace to it entrapping him in a life style of "double agent or death penalty".

The process of controlling one's chakra had always been something Byakuran had understood. It was, to him, really no different than moving his arm or wiggling his toe. It was a part of him, and new feats involving it were really nothing more complex to him then mimicking poses shown to him via a picture. Bending that part of him in a specific way in order to preform a certain function. He didn't know if this was his bloodline or merely a personal quirk of his, but he supposed that if one was to assume anything from it, it was that he was more suited to be a ninja then anything else. He was born to be a ninja... and with that came a great many philosophical queries. Was he aiming to be a ninja because he was so good at it? Or vice versa? was it merely coincidence? Was it an example of nature versus nurture? Was it merely a subconscious idiosyncrasy of his? Really there was no way that he could certain.

Pondering an unanswerable question wasn't really something that bothered Byakuran as it tended to most everyone else. To him merely discovering the fact that a question had to no true answer, or rather perhaps figuring out a question simply had more then one answer, or perhaps even a fusion of more than one answer, was just as satisfying as coming up with a singular conclusion. Not knowing an answer that didn't exist wasn't ignorance, it was merely such if one claimed to have an answer, rather than admitting that there was no real answer. It was a funny sort of coincidence that mist itself was associated with ignorance... allowing ones self to slip away from clarity, surrounded by an endless, vision-less, mist. He supposed he could understand the simile.

The village hidden in the mist itself though, was an odd parallel to this comparison. After all, it was farmore lucid, far more open with it's flaws and lifestyle then...some, factions that he could name. He didn't like to keep coming back to his family, but he supposed in a comparison of a nature such as this was unavoidable. The hidden village he'd been sent to, that which he'd called home for so long, however, was at least, in the mist to one thing...
Or so he assumed. He supposed that there was a possibility that the village had discovered him and his mission, it was the obvious conclusion to make. He was an otobe, one of a rather zealotic and domination driven clan who even now was overthrowing another hidden village and instating themselves as the ruling class within it, through violent action, none the less. He was soon, if not already, going to be under heavy observation and scrutiny...

Unless, perhaps, he managed to conceal his true heritage. While it was unlikely, at least his kekke genkai was not as apparently obvious or flashy as some. The emittance of sound was something it was easy enough to conceal the source of, being an invisible weapon assuming one didn't take it to the level of the "black scream" jutsu. If he managed to apply effort towards keeping himself hidden...there really was no reason for them to think anything more of him then someone who was...unusually alert and aware of his surroundings. He excelled in other areas as well, so it shouldn't have been too much of a stretch. Yes... that was for the best. He would simply take great measures to conceal his identity...lest he reveal the information to the wrong person. And he'd already determined that he considered everyone a potential enemy...

In hidnsight, he supposed that had been his plan all along, but he'd been working under the assumption that in being assigned directly under the eye of a Jounin level Shinobi, a tried and true REAL ninja, that it was doubtful that he could conceal it for long. He had faith in his skills in misleading others, but at the same time misleading most people and misleading a Jounin were not even remotely in the same ball park. Jounin, even in his limited understanding of the level of excellence they had attained, were like unto gods amongst mortals. A single jounin could take on a nearly unlimited number of conventional foes, and someone of his skill level would present about as much challenge to one as an ant might to a praying mantis. Both were insects, true, but a battle between the two wouldn't even be worth calling a fight.
