Lin carefully shifted Andarien a bit so he wasn't going to get himself into the porridge and hence get himself dirty.
"I have it, he's just impatience," she murmured taking a spoon and putting a bit at the edge of it so he could slurp or suck it off.

Andarien leaned forward and closed his mouth around the spoon, but he clamped his teeth hard on it and didn't let go. In his defense, he hadn't been fed with a spoon before, and really didn't know what he was supposed to do with it. Everything that had been put into his mouth thus far had been edible.
Earendil found the whole thing quite amusing, but he tried not to laugh so as not to make Lin feel self-conscious or annoyed.

Lin tugged lightly, even though she knew it would be impossible because Miyuki had done the same thing as a baby.
"Do you have an extra spoon?" she asked Earendil, since she might have to end up using the two spoon trick.

Earendil looked over all the trays that had been brought to them and shook his head. "Sorry, no," he apologized. "There's nothing else here that would require one. Try a piece of bread, at least we know that he likes that. Maybe he'll give up the spoon for a bite of that."
He'd probably fill up sooner too, for that matter.

This was true.... Lin mused on this before taking the bread that Andarien already bit into and pulled off a small piece to give to him.
"Here, try sucking on this for a while," she offered to him.
Hopefully then he would let go of the spoon.

Andarien's eyes lit up brightly at the offering of bread, and he opened his mouth wide, dropping the spoon and leaning forward for the bread.
"There you go," Earendil nodded as he began eating his own meal. "Don't forget to eat, either, Lin," he added. "This kind of food gets cold somewhat easily."

"I won't," Lin assured him as she took time out since Andarien was sucking on his bread to eat a few quick bites herself.
She watched to see how he was getting along with that bread so she could give him more porridge.

Andarien seemed intent on simply sucking on the bread, but eventually he had sucked it all down to nothing, and his mouth was empty again. It was then that he opened his mouth wide again, looking up at Lin expectantly.

Putting her food down for a moment she took the spoon again and offered Andarien a bit more food.
Miyuki on the other hand was already half way through her sausages and rolls.

Andarien grunted and pushed the spoon aside, leaning forward and reaching for the bread again instead.
Earendil chuckled. "Seems like he's found his favourite food," he grinned. "Even without the mead."

"Apparently so," Lin was amused.
She took a bit more of the bread and gave it to him, at least it meant she would have more time to eat then.
"You really like that huh?"

Andarien sucked on the bread happily, smiling up at Lin. There was an air of innocence around him, pure and sweet, in the way that he was eating his bread.
"I guess it's a good thing they gave us some extra," Earendil quipped with a chuckle. "And it makes it easier to feed him on the road, too."
They wouldn't have to prepare anything for him that way - though it would probably be a good idea to continue with the mead, so that he would get more vitamins.

"Yes, and with some mead we can keep him fed and then as he grows older... introduce him to new foods. Granted I don't know if he'll continue to have more teeth at this stage or if we would have to wait for him to grow."
Lin couldn't imagine that since she had been feeding Miyuki different foods when she was a baby, granted Miyuki's preference in foods expanded after she grew.

"I think he's probably got all his teeth already," Earendil commented thoughtfully. "Alena said something to that effect. I think he just doesn't quite know how to use them yet."
Of course, eating only soft bread it wasn't as if he had a need, either.

"Then maybe while we stay we can see what foods he can eat," Lin murmured, "I know we sort of tried Miyuki a number of things even if her first foods were all sweets."
She looked up at Earendil with a smile because really it was because of Earendil the first food Miyuki ever tried was pie filling.
