After tax (ugh NS and it's freakin' 15% sales tax) Manga comes to between $14-$15 Canadian, here. It's actually about $1 cheaper per manga at $9 American, for me to buy it there. So I bought like $100 worth of manga over the summer and was all "I saved $10!". XD

Beware the Jabberwock
When I went to B&N when I was in the States over the summer all their Manga was $9, except of course for Hellsing.

Yeah, hell sing, both the original as well as the new one with scene form the anime series pasted over the manga diolouge, has become extremly popular.

But, yes, manga is cheap now, especialy love hina, I saw it for $7 the other day 4laugh
Because Hellsing's teh bomb. 3nodding The only manga I actually own. sweatdrop Although, I haven't gotten any new books of it for a long time, so I'm probably really far behind.

I really hope the theatre gives me a job.

Form what I understand, the manga was much longer then the anime series, which was only about 16 episodes long.

dream-katana- i want one handmade- one of the ones that takes a master 6 months to make, with over 1 million folds. i would like the edge (there's a technical name, but it's the sharp part that can be modified to look cool) to have a flame pattern, the hilt to have a lotus design, groves, and leaf/flower etching along the blade, possibly in gold. i would prefer the length to be between katana and wakizashi, there is a name for that too, i believe. i would like a nice wooden sheath, black, with flame pattern. my katana will be, by all accounts, "bitchin'" of course, it will cost a crapton of money
I think what you are talking about with the edge is the hamon, and that size I don't know. A daikatana is longer then a plain katana. But a wakizashi is smaller then a katana, so that couldn't be it. Maybe a kodachi? Or a kokatana? A prefix of "ko" meaning "short."

Me, I would want the blade made the way the swordsmith wants it made. I figure the swordsmith knows more about it then I would. The handle and saya (scabbard) I'd want made of some sort of strong wood, in a traditional manner. And I would like, if possible, a tsuba (the guard above the handle) made of shakudo, a special traditional metal.

it might be kodachi... i want to think it started with a "j" though... i just call them by their description, i can never remember the names.

have you heard anything about the murasame? i heard it was lost on a treasureship, then excavated and is now in a museam... however, i don't know the credibility of this rumor, and i would guess the real murasame to have a more powerful feel than the one i got from the picture

Oh, I don't doubt it; The manga moves soooooo slow. I swear. They finally get to the main idea in the fifth book.

I really want to see the anime too, but I haven't yet.

ok, question for anyone who watches cowboy bebop- ya know that episode where the main character guy is in a church, and he throws a grenade and jumps out a window and it goes through this montage of stuff he's apparently seen? i've seen it a few times, and i love it so much.... does anyone know the name of that episode, and more importantly, the name of the beautiful music going on during the montage?

The episode is "Ballad of the Fallen Angels," and the song is "Green Bird" by Yoko Kanno.

Great musician. The translation of the lyrics into either the Romanji form of Japanese or English is here: http://www.animelyrics.com/anime/cbebop/greenbird.htm

I also like the song right before he falls, "Walk in the Rain" (Also by Yoko Kanno).

I need a Katana for my class ( it's a special one, not really sharp because it's just made for practice). I also like swords, they interest me, which is one reason I want to take Iaido, more weapontry and less phsyical combat.
I think that practice blade is actually called an Iaito, right? And the sharper version is a Shrinken or something like that...

One is called Shinken iaito, I think you were mixing it up with shuriken which are the throwing stars but the name is similer. There are two kinds

Shinken iaito which I believe is the wooden pratice sword and the other steel iaito. I looked it up when looking for classes and equipment ( I had a flyer a few years ago when the class just started but I lost it so I find out where it is and if they still have it). I you have wear stuff like the hakama and the jacket (I think those are called haori) and shirt like thing called gi. So all that is going to be costly. The swords themselfs run $300-500+ (I think those were just the pratice ones). Money is the big reason why I hadn't taken any classes yet but working on it.
Actually, I looked it up on Wikipedia, which could technically be wrong, but I trust it. The sharp one is the Shinken, I accidentally put the "r" in. ^_^;; Wikipedia also says that any sword used in training in Iaido could be called an Iaito, but that they are typically dull, and made out of a certain alloy that is cheaper and lighter then steel, but couldn't be usable as a live, or sharp, blade.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinken

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iaito

Actually, the Shinken is the one I wanted; Hand made and rare, but extremely expensive. I figure, since I don't care about cars, I can use the money saved on not buying a new sports car, and buy one of these babies once I've got enough money. ninja And still have enough left over for a new computer! 4laugh

Hmm. Now I've just got to get on the money making. sweatdrop [/quote

I looked it up from a real Japanese sword shop and that's what it said and looked like ( I trust a proffessial Japanese sword company over wikipedia, some stuff there is abit wrong at times).

Yah the training ones are dull so you don't accidently hurt someone in pratice. Either way I want and need one but can't afford it right now so I have to save up abit.

Yah sounds like it would be pricy, well good luck with that. If I get a steel katana, I want to hang it on the wall for decoration and also so people won't mess with it but also make it so I can take it down later if I want.

- I believe your talking about the episode "Balled of the Fallen Angel"
I think that's the one when spike fights vicious and he falls out the window. Two parts I believe
I don't know the name of the song, just that it sounded pretty and classical like. I think some said the name of the song is Green Bird but not for sure.

crying I need to buy the real versions of the Cowboy Bebop DVDs. I got the whole series for $20, but it turned out to be a bootleg, and they don't work properly.

It is a great show though. 3nodding

it is such a beautiful song- little choirgirls singing... and it is emphasized by the confusing, jittery and sometimes dark images shown on the screen

edit- any idea where i could find either the clip or song without having to buy the whole dvd? confused

also, to be random, i just sneezed twice, rapid-fire. the first jarred me a bit, and i was getting ready to swallow as a reflex to the sneeze..but before i could get the spit down, the second sneeze blasted it all over my arm/keyboard. grossness.
