Square-Enix has also pledged several games for the PSP, and might I remind you who always wins in a tug-o-war between Sony and Nintendo when S-E is the prize? They're still steamed at the poor treatment Nintendo gave them years ago.
Also, one of the harshest reputable critics admitted that the 6 hour battery life of the PSP proved his previous statements entirely wrong.
Personally, I've mucked about with a DS and was unimpressed. Nintendo would have been better off putting that money into the next true incarnation of the gameboy line, not some side project run amok. As it stands, they've now upgraded the Gameboy significantly before splitting their own market between two systems. Who do they think they are, Sega?

Yet Nintendo is getting the better deal of the S-E games, a few Final Fantasies (not sure on the official number), Dragon Warriors, and some others.
As for the battery life, I've also read reports that the PSP last six hours when playing a puzzle game on the lowest quality.
I could say that Sony would have been better off putting their time into the PS3 and not trying to compete with Nintendo on handhelds, mind you that the Gameboy Advanced is selling more units than any other system on the market. It is best to let Nintendo dominate the handhelds, because as it stands, no one can touch them. Look, I don't hate Sony, I like them very much, however I've got my problems with the PSP, I'll admit there are a few games that make me want to pick up the PSP, but there is really nothing besides those certain games that makes me want a PSP. I've read the PSP's specs, I've read the DS's specs, sure, the PSP rules graphics-wise, but everything else basically belongs to the DS.
