He suspected that this jutsu would be easy enough for him to grasp. It was within his level of skill and more so it was right up his alley in terms of preferred style of combat. Enhancing his speed was a vital part of how he knew how to fight, his previously less then exemplary physique making it a necessity. Though it was a necessity no longer, he felt as though he'd only gotten faster from his intensive training, his speed and endurance now the most dominating factors in his repertoire as a ninja. The Shunshin would only help in that regard. Plus, he told himself with a slight smile, he'd always wanted to see that look on civilians faces when one seemed to appear out of nowhere. He supposed it was a bit elitist of him...but he WAS an Otobe after all, even if he disagreed with his clan's doctrine on a conscious level.

The Body flicker technique, as it was often known, might have seemed a simple enough technique, and indeed most ninja eventually learned it, but it was a also an infinitely useful one, the stronger one's own chakra was. By combining a powerful chakra with a shinobi's already enhanced speed, the results could be positively devastating in battle. And in the case of getting the first strike, a sometimes invaluable aspect in battle, the technique allowed for an extra edge, which when facing someone who didn't know the technique was all the more prominent. This wasn't to say that it didn't have it's draw backs of course. Using the technique to travel great distances took a lot of chakra, and using it in a high intensity situation like battle was no easy task either, consuming far more chakra then usual. It took a larger reserve to truly use it to it's full potential.

Since Byakuran had been a small child, newly arrived in the village hidden in the mist, he'd been given the code words, As the light is in heaven, so it is upon the brow of they who can hear the hear beat of the universe. It was a sign perhaps of the Otobe's arrogance, and all in all he could have thought of more discreet pass phrases, but it was all he had to know an agent of his clan from the rest of the lot... and it had been how he'd know Takahashi and Saiya for who they were. He'd been just a newly inducted orphan to the village hidden in the mist when he'd first met them... his eyes still full of questions of the new world he'd been thrust into... As he continued to grow as a person and as a student of the ninja arts...as a warrior, this latest jutsu no exception, he couldn't help but feel as he had back then... like a child shown a brand new world, watching in awe as it unfolded before his feet.

The Speed required to maintain the jutsu was no laughing matter, and he wasn't in top form. He wasn't going to let that stop him of course. He just wasn't built that way. He would continue to push himself until he won out in the end, that was merely the way that his self had honed itself against the world. He was determined to push through all obstacles in his path, allowing nothing to obstruct it. Even if he had to try a thousand times, then he would still do so in the pursuit of his goals. He supposed, as he had decided during his training, that this was what they called his..."nindo". He gave a small skeptical chuckle. It was a rather childish notion to him, but he supposed at the same time it had an appeal all it's own. He was one such individual who could accept the notions of those humans who allowed their views of the world to become skewed...even if he also saw how very skewed they were.

When he thought about it, he supposed that most everyone thought that way however. It was one of the few fairly consistent truths about humanity that they each saw the world from their own point of of view. They almost always believed themselves to be right, above all others, and trusted their own judgements ove those even far older and purportedly wiser... but that was fine. That was the way it should be. All humans should follow their own wills, and so it was fine for them to think the way they did, the way they saw the world. The alternative would be a world where they all followed the same law, the same rule, uniformity and absolute justice... it would be a simpler world, and perhaps even a more peaceful one... but it would be an ugly place... and one that he did not believe was worthy of existing. A world where there was only one morality...

The technique's idea was to focus the chakra, and the burst of speed, into a single moment, a single instant. Infinitely less then a second. The practical upshot of which was a single glorious moment of exponentially increased movement allowing the user to move far faster the normal human eye could see. To the casual onlooker it would appear as though the user had simply vanished in a flicker of imperceptible motion, which was how the technique earned it's name. The Ninja arts were not as commonly known to the outside world, and civilians who saw ninja preforming such a thing would see it only as such, a teleportation, and thus it was easy for them to not truly understand the difference. But as someone now attempting to learn the technique, trying to close the infinite gap between what the human eye could perceive, and "instant" he could more then tell the difference. To be able to travel instantly... that was a technique that would truly be unrivaled...even the very fastest with the shunshin would find it impossible to bridge the gap...

[FAIL] Batsu made it to the grove right after Cassie and they went to a little clearing to do the training. The woman stopped, turned, look at Batsu dead in his eye and smirked. Batsu curiously looked over and scratched his head... or so he thought. "So when do we start the training, Cassie-sensei?" Oddly enough, Cassie's smirk grew even more as she responded. "We already have Batsu." This made the boy's eyes widen and his eyebrows raise. Everything looked the same, so how was it that he was trapped in a genjutsu?

[FAIL] The boy looked around to try and detect the mind jutsu. Sadly, he couldn't pick up on it and the boy groaned. In his mind, he was wandering aimlessly through the grove. But Cassie had the boy all along. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a large bird came swooping down from the sky towards Batsu's head. The boy dodged it but the damn thing circled back and came at him again! Batsu swatted at the bird and hit it causing the bird to branch off into several smaller birds. Okay, now the boy knew that he was caught.

[PASS] Batsu became somewhat frantic after a while. To make matters worse, he was being swarmed by these damn birds and they were swooping down towards his head squawking. The boy eventually screamed a bit in frustration and closed his eyes. He started concentrating on the chakra flow to his brain, just like the book told him to. The boy squinted and tapped his fingers to his head. Hopefully he did the right thing. But the boy opened his eyes and everything was back to normal. Good, he did the right thing and cutting the flow of chakra like the book said.

[PASS] Now Batsu knew what he needed to do in order to stop a genjutsu in its track. It was all just a matter of perfecting it now. Before he knew it, the birds had made their return... which meant Cassie put another genjutsu on him. No matter, he knew what to do now. Batsu remained calm and ccut off the flow of chakra to his brain. After he did that, the birds vanished and he saw the gove return back to its natural beauty.

[FAIL] For some odd reason, when Batsu snapped out of the last genjutsu he started to feel light-headed. Not Good. The boy had to drop down and take a knee for a spell. Batsu was used to fighting off physical attacks, but mind technique were something he wasn't accustomed too and it showed. The poor guy was already exhausted and he hadn't been training long at all. Hopefully he would be able to finish out the training because right now it looked like he was about to crumble.

[FAIL] Cassie walked up to Batsu and put her hand the boy's shoulder as he took a knee. "Genjutsu is not your typical ninja technique, Batsu. It can cause a ninja to break down since it focuses on the mind. Attack that and the rest of the body is soon to crumble. That's why you need to endure the rest of this training. So come on Batsu. I have faith in you to do this. Besides, what will happen if your team needs additional help and you can't do anything?"

[Pass] Cassie-sensei was right. Masaraku and Shinzu were both susceptible to being killed by genjutsu and this was his way of saving them both.He needed them but they also needed him. The boy groaned as he stood up. He was getting mentally exhausted and was extremely tired physically. Hopefully he could do what he needed to finish this off before he passed out... and considering how tired he was, it wasn't gonna be much longer.

[PASS] Batsu looked up Cassie-sensei as she spoke and smiled lightly. "You're right Cassie-sensei, but would you try to teach me some of your techniques? The chuunin exams are coming up and I wish to learn how to use genjutsu offensively. Any heads up I can get on the competition will help me out greatly, ya know?" Cassie looked down at the boy with a curious expression. "I don't know if I can be able to teach you anything if we can't get through this jutsu, right?" Batsu nodded in response.

[FAIL] Batsu sighed and stood back up on his own two feet. Much to the boy's dismay, he stood up to Cassie speaking. "I think we need to intensify the training a bit. I will make the genjutsu tougher to get out of. So you have been warned." Batsu frowned a bit but nodded. He was afraid of what might happen to him., especially since he had more than enough of an issue with the basic genjutsu that Cassie put on him.

[FAIL] Cassie took a few steps back and made the handseals to put the genjutsu into effect. Batsu's eyes went damn near possessed-looking and he tried his hardest to break free of the technique but it was ridiculously hard to do so. It hurt his head to do so and he dropped down to his knees again. This s**t was ridiculous.

[FAIL] The birds in the genjutsu started to swoop down at great speed and in more quantities. The boy screamed bloody murder as he was surrounded by swarms of these birds. He tried his hardest to break free of the genjutsu. However, he was doing the same thing he had been doing and it didn't work. So he was in a jam and didn't know what to do.

[PASSx2] The boy closed his eyes and tried his hardest to concentrate on breaking free. For some odd reason, the boy tapped into his chakra control. He thought about it for a while, ignoring the birds. Batsu caught on to the attack and he found a weak spot. The boy broke through and escaped the genjutsu. Batsu came to on his knees, but he slowly rose up to his feet and side-eyed Cassie. His confidence level skyrocketed.

[PASS] Cassie stared down the boy for a few moments before going back on the offensive. The woman went to place another genjutsu on Batsu. The technique had no trouble connecting, but the difference was was that the young male had become accustomed to the jutsu. Batsu raised a couple of fingers to his lips and closed his eyes. When he opened his eyes, he was staring Cassie down again with a small smirk splayed across his lips.

[FAIL] "Don't get cocky, Batsu. I haven't even put half of my power into the genjutsu... but since you seem like you want that fine." Cassie did just that, she souped up the technique a bit more. It was enough to have to make Batsu stuck in the jutsu. He tried to use what he did before, but it failed. Batsu was stuck with the same birds as before. They swooped down towards him all at the same time.... but when they squawked at him rows of razor sharp teeth appeared. The boy became deathly afraid.

[PASS] The birds swooped down closer to the boy and he tried his hardest to get out of the jutsu. His fingers fumbled around a bit as he tried to break away from Cassie's genjutsu but it was getting harder and harder for him to do since the technique was getting stronger. The boy fumbled about and right as a bird went in to bite the boy, he snapped out of the genjutsu huffing and puffing. He was glad to get out alive from that one.

[PASS] Cassie felt as though it was time to talk to Batsu and hopefully knock some sense into him. "Listen Batsu.... genjutsu is not as real as you think it it. Yes, it affects your brain into thinking it is but it isn't. All it is is a play on your body and it will trick you into a false sense of reality if you continue to let it. Just stay calm and everything will be okay."

Thisspeed aspect was something that he was fairly certain that he'd get so long as he gave it his all, when put into perspective, it was really no different from the dexterity training he'd been doing in terms of difficulty, and he'd managed to knock that out with relative effort. No, he wasn't really all that concerned about the issue, it was merely a matter of working his way through it all. He just had to keep focusing on collecting his effort, concentrating his energy and motion into as close to a single entity as he could make them. It was a matter of control of his speed, not merely acceleration. As when he'd been trying to work the the wave of his Kekke Genkai, it was a matter of balance between the to, allowing the two to coexist in temperance and synergy...

The time he'd spent here in Kiri was the majority of his life starting the previous year, and for all intents and purposes, he'd not really acknowledged it. His life went on as it often did, and there was no real shift in his outwardly attitude. He had continued to act as he had for the most of his time there, carrying on without any real shift in routine.

But even as he went on with this particular jutsu, working through compressing the time of his speed bursts, their was a shift in his view of who he was. did the fact that he had spent more of his time in Kiri make him less of an Otobe? Did the fact that he had made this place his home longer mean he was more of a traitor? He technically hadn't DONE anything treacherous as of yet, really. He was merely keeping his relatives informed on the situation here in the Hidden mist. He didn't really tell them anything that wasn't common knowledge in the area. It was what his clan intended him for in the future that was more insidious in intent.

Even in the little moments of his new life, he found himself ever reminded that a time would come when he would have to choose. True, he had decided to only follow his own will in truth, but in his situation his will would have to at least make a superficial decision. To whom did his loyalties lie besides in himself? Did he even possess them beyond himself? True his family held him under a tight fist of tyranny and held him based on a duty owed to his blood, but would Kiri be all that different? In the end if they discovered that he had torn allegiances, they're reaction was bound to be just as swift and merciless as the clan's.

The other problem was that it was that it would become harder and harder to hide what clan he was from, what with the recent invasion of Oto. His clan would soon become far more infamous, and using his clan's jutsu would soon mark him as one of their number. Animosity and distrust would soon plague him here...so perhaps joining his own kind would be best after all...

Tenshi moved onto his next training session... jutsu. He pulled out the slip of paper that was given to him by Bumu-sensei. He was going to master this jutsu and show it to his Academy teacher. He would be the shining star pupil, even when out of the academy. The first step is to manipulate the air around me... alright... here we go... He made the required handseals and focused his chakra on the air around him. He felt his hair move with the wind that picked up. Though it wasn't much of a gust, he could tell it was him that did it and not the actual wind.

He released his chakra and gathered himself before performing the handseals again. He tried dispersing his chakra into the air and moving it around. His face became slightly red from trying to exert his chakra, but he couldn't copy the effect he had last time. He let out his breath and gasped for air. Well I got it the first time... must have been beginners luck...

He repeated the handseals and dispersed his chakra. He could feel his chakra in the air and he began moving it around. At least, he thought he was. Until he released his chakra and the wind kept blowing did he find out he wasn't doing anything and just wasted his chakra. "I will learn this Bumu-sensei..." He move his neck and shoulders around, loosening up his muscles and joints.

Tenshi took a deep breath. He needed to concentrate on what he was doing. Think of the solution... After calming himself he made the handseals and released his chakra, but it wasn't going anywhere. It kept circulating through his body. Maybe I did the handseals wrong... He shook his hands causing his fingers to hit each other making a clink.

He recollected himself, Calm down. You're not picking up those logs anymore, you are trying to perform a jutsu. This is your strong suit... you can do it. He made the handseals and let his chakra go into the air. Once it went into the air, it remained there, doing nothing. He released it, letting his chakra disintegrate. He shook his hands again, thinking maybe he wasn't loose enough.

This is the first step. All you have to do is move your chakra around you, nothing too hard. He tried raising himself up, making it seem like it was easy enough. After all, everything was usually in your head, all you had to do was talk yourself through it. He made the handseals and released the chakra. He felt his hands beginning to hurt as the chakra-supressing gauntlets prevented an overuse of chakra. He opened and closed his hands, trying to relax his hands.

Tenshi sat down on a log. He laughed at himself for actually wanting to sit on one after all the trouble he went through trying to move them. There wasn't anywhere else to sit besides the ground, and he didn't want to dirty his clothes too much. They were plenty dirty enough and he could tell his mother would make him clean them. After all, he was plenty old enough to do it himself. Besides, it would be 'good for him' to learn how to clean clothes. She would probably come up with something like 'it'll make you appreciate the work you do' or something to that affect.

Of course, it would alleviate some work from his mother, allowing her more time to do other things that always seemed to need doing. He wouldn't even try cooking. Anything he would make would no doubt taste horrible, if not burnt. It would probably taste like ash in your mouth. He looked at his hands. Wearing the gauntlets would help much either, and would probably get in the way with cooking, though they would make good oven mitts... until they got hot at least.

He was one step closer to getting the damn things off. Once he was a chunin and showed he was able to control his chakra, would the clan remove the gauntlets and he would be able to feel things. For now, they were a necessary safety measure he would need to tolerate. Though they did help in ways he needed them. He could do things that others couldn't, like use his hands to block a blade or cut things without having to worry about chopping his fingers off, but he wouldn't mind touching things.

He wondered what his first mission as a genin would be. He hoped it was something exciting and important. Maybe the Fubuki clan would request aid in finding lost lore, or the village needing to escort someone to a different village. He would be happy with anything like that, though he had heard of some tasks, being so menial, such as, chasing cats, picking up trash, or plow the fields. Though they would be rewarding in their own way, he hoped for something more... significant to the village as a whole.

He daydreamed about his upcoming genin years like he was sure that others had done/were doing. He wondered what Mizuiro was doing right now. Tenshi saw him go off towards the Hoshigaki Compound, but other than that, it was pretty much it. He would probably meet up with him a little later and catch up, maybe do some training together. Training together could show each other their strengths and weaknesses.
