Ophiuchus Jack_Hawkins Anyone else here call Tyranids ''nids? Just wondering... we have different ways of naming them here. Rippers - Gribbly bits Gaunts - Gribblies Warriors - Big Gribblies Carnifexes (Or is it Carnifexi?) - Gribble Hive Tyrant - Urbygribble Don''t ask me who started this, or how. But they are the Gribbles or Gribblies now. Not the nids. But it's so lame... Gribbles? I shall always stick to 'nids! Gribbles just seems so damn lame... neutral

I have an old copy of White Dwarf from when the Tau came out and they're referring to the 'nids as Gribblies. It makes perfect sense when you realize that 'gribblies' is IG slang for strong and persistent jitters or nervousness. Exactly what you'd feel fighting the 'Nids.

Ophiuchus But where'd UrbyGribble come from? xd Well, I think that little classification scheme is just someone's personal thing. I've always just heard 'gribblies' used to refer to anything not monstrous and 'big gribblies' for tyrants and carnifexes.

fair enough. but gribbly bits works for ripper bases. It's good though. It's like "Shooting at the gribblies..." or "and the cannon ALSO hits the gribbly bits" "The flamer hits four gribblies and your gribble"
