Lin thought about it, and she understood where Earendil was coming from. Haldia obvious understood, and she might have problems speaking it, but that could be said about anyone who would have a very thick accent for years and years....

"Because without knowing it, it could be a source of confusion," Lin explained, "Your mind is so use to putting together sentences one way, that when you need to put it another way, the words and the order becomes very mixed up."

She tugged Miyuki's cup away from Miyuki's mouth because the girl did need to breath sometimes.

"It's one thing to have difficulty pronouncing words, believe it or not there are people who have been using Common Tongue for years but still retain some sort of accent because it isn't the language they grew up with and for some it's far, far stronger than others."

Or Lin added to herself they just speak in a way that is hard to understand forever, though it had been a while since she talked with the two fighters that came to mind.

Haldia nodded, but her eyes showed that she wasn't convinced. She wasn't worried about an accent or pronunciation, it was simply that she couldn't put a sentence together. It made sense when other people did it, but when she tried it it didn't make any sense to her, even if it sounded the same.

"Perhaps what you need is step by step grammar lessons," Earendil smiled softly. "I can help you with that, if you would like."

Haldia looked thoughtful. She'd had many people helping her already, Earendil included, but nothing had helped. Perhaps actual lessons would be good. Like a child.

"Perhaps," she agreed tentatively.

If it helped Haldia master the language then Lin was sure it would be fine. She nodded at this as she helped Miyuki with her drink some more.

"Good... we have all winter after all," Lin murmured.

And even if Haldia was going to go home, hopefully it wouldn't be until after winter.

Haldia nodded as Fletcher returned with her cider.

"Here you are," he said, holding it out for her to take.

"Thank you," Haldia smiled, her tone making a translation unnecessary. She sipped at her drink and leaned back against the couch.

Earendil turned to Fletcher. "How is Amara doing with the doll?" he asked curiously.

"Very well," the light elf replied lightly. "I believe she said she could be done by dinner if she's left undisturbed. Though if that's the case, then I recommend you head back to the ranch for dinner. Amara won't have time to prepare anything, and honestly you do not want to eat my cooking."

Lin had to chew on her lower lip and smile at that. Fletcher kept telling them his cooking was horrible.

"You keep saying that," she told him.

"Well that's because it's true," Fletcher chuckled back at Lin. "Why do you think I gave you sandwiches and meat for lunch? When it comes to using the fire for heating things up, the only thing Amara will let me do is boil water or heat up some cider."

Earendil chuckled. "Maybe you should give us a chance to cook something," he grinned. "Amara deserves a chance to eat someone else's cooking every once in a while, too."

Lin could only imagine what would have prompt to being only allowed to heat up water or cider. She giggled some more, but nodded with Earendil's assessment.

"We wouldn't mind."

It wouldn't be anything fancy but it would be edible and good at least.

"Well, we'll see," Fletcher smiled.

Just then Amara came into the living room, looking a bit tired but smiling softly.

"Ah, good," she murmured, "you're inside. Earendil, Lin, I was wondering if I could ask one of you a favour. In order to finish the doll, I need some black hair, and since only the two of you have black hair ..."

Earendil blinked at her. "You would like one of us to donate?"

Amara laughed. "Well, I don't need much, it's not going to be long hair on the doll. So if one of you doesn't mind a haircut ..."

Earendil ran his fingers through his hair. Well, it had been a while since his last cut, he could spare some ... though he wasn't sure if it would even be long enough, even for a doll.

"I'll do it," Lin replied, she grinned, "It's been a long while since I've had my hair cut."

Over six years to be exact, Lin had never bothered to cut it during their travels and with only three days to get back, she couldn't cut it at home. So Lin's hair was still as long as it had been since she returned from the ship (and then some).

"Sure," Amara grinned. "All right, come this way. We'll do it in the bedroom, that way the mess is all in one place."

She motioned for Lin to follow her, then grinned at the others. "Don't worry," she teased them all, "you'll have her back in one piece."

"Miyuki," Lin murmured setting down Miyuki's cup, "Will you go to Earendil for a while?"

"Dil?"

Miyuki looked at Earendil, and the moment her mother let her go she was off to be with her other favourite person.

"Dil!"

Earendil chuckled. "Come here, you!" he grinned, holding his arms out to Miyuki. He scooped her up and tossed her into the air, then sat her on his lap.

"Don't worry about her," he grinned at Lin. "We'll be fine until you get back."

Amara smiled. "Shall we?" she murmured to Lin, and started down the hallway.

Lin smiled warmly, there was admittedly a good feeling when Earendil treated Miyuki so much like his own. Though she wondered if he was aware of it at all.

Turning back, she followed Amara down the hallway.

Amora led Lin to the back bedroom, hers and Fletcher's, and once they were in there she pulled a chair away from a desk, positioning it in the center of the room.

"Here, have a seat," she smiled. "Rather than just cutting for the doll, why don't I give you a proper hair cut? How do you like it styled?"

She took a sheet from the closet and waited for Lin to sit down.

Sitting down Lin ran her hand through her hair. It didn't feel any different, but she could tell from whenever she saw her reflection that she looked vastly different than she did over six years ago.

"Uhm... I normally have it below my chin, and I sort of miss my bangs."

Even though she knew growing them out again while traveling would be a pain, but she liked her bangs really.
