Alnette entered the tavern with a yawn, golden contacts scanning her surroundings. "Good evening everyone." She said, nodding to those who were already inside.

Remus smiled. "I am indeed. I'm a friend of your wife's. Emma has spoken quite a bit about you."
Remus showed an air of respect for Hrothbert, which was rare for the Imperator to have for total strangers.

The air of respect was mutual; power was to be respected, as they both knew well.

Remus pulled up a chair at a table nearby and ordered a drink.
"She has. Emma thinks very highly of you." the Imperator replied.

Ever since he began life as an emotionless automaton, Remus found the idea of love to be a confusing subject. He had never seen Emma like this before. Remus had wondered if he had been the same way around Kaok.
"So what brings you to the Waning Vestal, Hrothbert?"

"Curiosity and a break in my research." He smiled slightly as Emma found her way back to leaning against his chest.
Remus might not have been able to sense it, but the combined power of the two nobles was prevalent in the air.
Neither were actively using magic, but their proximity to each other had a magic of its own.

Alnette silently listened to them speak. At the moment, she felt no need to intrude on the conversation, and it was something to do to pass time. Her eyes were closed and she leaned against a wall. She could have sat down somewhere, but for some reason, leaning against the wall felt more comfortable for the succubus.

"I come here to get a quick break from running an Empire." Remus said and took a drink of his beer.
He heard some static in the earpiece he was wearing. "Scuse me."
Remus pulled the earpiece out and tapped it a few times. The static stopped and the Imperator placed the device back in his ear.

Emma shot Hrothbert a warning look and the feeling of power in the air lessened.
Neither had ever had an Empire to themselves, but both knew the feeling.
They could have an Empire...they could have the world.
But they had not taken it.

Remus became aware of Alnette in the tavern. She was leaning against the wall, half asleep.
Remus excused himself again and walked over to Alnette. He gently shook the succubus' shoulder.
"Hey Alnette? It's Remus...."

The Lord of Bainbridge took the opportunity presented by Remus' temporary distraction and pulled Emma closer, whispering something in her ear. The enchantress let out a soft murmur of delight.

Alnette had heard Remus approach and her eyes snapped open. She flinched when he shook her shoulder, but quickly relaxed. "So I see... Did you want to talk about something?" Her left contact had fallen out, revealing the gray eye beneath it. The pupil was elliptical rather than round, and was little wider than a slit at the moment.

"I wanted to ask if you wanted to join Hrothbert, Emma and I. It's not nice to leave somebody out."
Emma's delight caused one of the automatons to spark for a second. The other automaton quickly pulled out a small device and placed it on his brother's head. The sparking robot then resumed normal function.
