That sounds neat, but it could lead to powergaming during the inevitable starting balance issues, or excessive use of certain units, unless there's a limit.

Very true... you could prevent people from fielding an army consisting purely of, say, dreadnoughts by doing like what was done in Medieval Total War II; Whenever someone included more than 4 squads of one squad type, then the price would go up to a point where it almost became ridiculous to pick a 5th squad or more.
Indeed, or maybe limit it with a force organization chart that limited the max number of units, similarly to the table-top version.

Well the has to be counters for everything, so I imagine it would pay off better if a player picked a well rounded force.

Could be a way to do it smile What I'd like to see, though, is the option to make it an optional rule, so that one could create a game where you have the option of making a "themed" army, consisting purely of, say, Ork Nobs or something like that.

One part of the new game that I am really interested in, as well, is how the support for the modding community will be. I'm talking modding tools and the like.

Yeah, I'd love to see a map-maker feature included in the game.

Hey, the modding tools were fully supported so long as you knew how to work G-Max. It would have been nice to see a map editor, though. Many times I've had ideas for maps that would be damned good fun if only I could make them.

Ever played the panzers games? they work in a similar way where after each mission you get an amount of points judged by how well you did and you can spend those points on new troops or improving the ones you have and the points add up as you go through the campaign so that by the time youre on the last mission your fielding an armoured division thats armed to the teeth this looks like a logical way for DoW2 to go seeing as theyre getting rid of base building

The days of the red alert map editor are over, you need a degree in digital whatnots these days to create those gonk

Well look at Warcraft III, it had a map editor that was fairly easy to grasp that could create some fairly advanced things. If Blizzard can do it, I'm sure that THQ could.

Thats degrading for Blizzard. Blizzard > THQ hands down.

Any company that demands additional premiums for a game after it's purchased automatically loses points in my book.

Relic > Blizzard

When Blizzard makes a game in oft-ignored World War 2 and make it greater than great then we well see.

Blizzard genre is far to much set in the one styles to make a WWII game that many people would play. On a side note WWII is far from ignored in the gaming world.

And the did release mod tools you just had to download them. But teh was no instructions on how to use them and it wasn't a easy interface which left a good number of people out to dry. But they obviously could be used based and the volumes of maps submitted to various websites every day.

Blizzard is so fething cartoony and brightly coloured, almost like Disney has a hand in their products gonk

WWII games are done to death. Unless they are well done, like Company of Heroes that I've seen some play through sessions of. Have you heard? Call of Duty 5 is a WWII game and the whole gaming community groaned.
