User Image Urza found a good clearing that would be perfect for the type of training she had in mind. Running out into the middle of in she performed her roll. As she stood up she made sure that she was facing 90 degrees to the left of where she had been when she started. She had gotten down the control in very little time, and that was great new, because the most difficult part was going to be using them in a real situation. Urza looked up at the sky. She wished she could have made opponents fall from the sky for her to practice against, but she was just going to have to use her imagination to the best of her ability.

Urza stood in the middle of the clearing and got into her fighting stance. She imagined other fighters surrounding her, than charging first one on one, than two on one, and so on. Urza imagined each attack and each parry. Urza was doing fantastically, performing dodges and rolls, feigning blocks and punches. But her foot caught hold of a loose rock, and sent her tumbling to the ground. That was the thing about combat. It was unpredictable, and things like that would have been the difference between life and death in some situations. Urza sat up and spit out the dirt that had made its way into her mouth. She had a while to go before she was ready to use these in any sort of formal setting.

User Image Urza lay back and looked at the clouds as she caught her breath. This was a better workout than she had gotten in a really long time. And all the ducking and rolling was making the girl a bit dizzy. Urza decided that it would be best just to lay there and wait for the world to stop spinning before she decided to move on. Urza wondered what her father was up to. He usually spent his time at the forge in the Chantry, smithing armor and weapons for the Sentinels. Urza let her head fall to the side, a breeze of wind wafting the smell of earth into her nose. The smell of grass here always seemed to calm Urza. It was such a pleasant smell. As soon as the world stopped spinning in Urza's eyes she stood up, ready to try again at shadowboxing against her imagination.

User Image As Urza got into her stance again she once more pictures a fight between her and a mob of people. Shadowboxing her way though she performed all of her rolls flawlessly. To an on looker that didn't know what she was doing it most likely just looked like she was punching air and rolling around. But to Urza, every movement had a practical purpose. Every dodge was life or death in her imagination. Urza gave one more punch into the air before she stopped. Her breathing was heavy and sweat was starting to form on her brow. Urza stood up straight and put a hand on her hip. She was now one step closer to being a guardian for this village and her friends. Urza laughed looking at the sky, "I'm going to need to get some shield work in soon... Maker help me." Urza sighed, falling backwards flat on the ground.

User Image Urza lay in the grass, wind tussling her hair. It was such an odd thing. The world. It was this grand object inhabited by countless numbers of lives such as her own. Yet each life and each person had an experience genuinely unique to only them. There was no way Urza cold look at another person and relive their life. Because even those that shared certain traits were so drastically differing that if looked at side by side would show no more than microscopic pieces of common traits. And yet, as unalike as life is, people are so entwined with one another as to be inseparable. Forged by the fires of friend and foe alike, each person was so disconnected in perfect harmony with one another that it brought Urza to her knees in amazement.

Urza very rarely took the time to observe the world around her. She was always so busy trying to become stronger in a physical manner. Often the young girl neglected to fee the other parts of her being as she trained. So it was now, as she lay in the clearing all out of breath, that she thought to herself, Why is it that I am here? What will I provide for the world with my existence. Urza's eyes traced the cloud as she thought about the very reason for her creation. Her mind a buzz with ideas, all fighting for the girls attention inside her own mind. "Why are you here Urza?" the Knight asked herself. Her eyes glued to the ever changing shape of the clouds

Well she was there in that very moment to train. Or at least, that was what she had been doing. Was that why she was there? Was that the reason for that moments existence? Urza counted her breaths. I am here, because The Maker put me here.... And The Maker put me here because.... Urza's eyes glazed over in deep thought. I am here because the world needs a shield. Urza's head rolled to one side, her eyes focusing on the trees in the not to far distance. And to be a shield, I must be strong.... And to be strong I must train. I am here... To train?

Urza's breathing slowed the deeper she got into thought. She had told herself and others over and over that she was to be their shield. But what did that mean? Did it simply mean that she was to be a tool? Taken up in arms and then cast away at the battles end? Was that all there was for Urza? The young girl caught sight of a grasshopper. It jumped from grass blade to grass blade, it wings beating as fast as they could to carry the insect. I am a grasshoppers wings. Urza thought to herself, stretching out her hand in hopes that the bug would land in her palm. I am working as hard as I can to help the body. It doesn't matter if I know why I am here or not... Or...

Urza watched the grasshopper as it jumped into the palm of her hand. Such delicate creatures they were to her. But to smaller insects they were titans. Even small things like that brought forth a world of wonder spinning in Urza's mind. Urza began sitting up, which cause the grasshopper to jump away in fear. Urza looked into the trees. Birds fluttered about making their homes in the branches. Urza often thought about how unique human life was from one another. But animal life took it to a new realm. How differant the world must be through the eyes of a hawk, or the mind of an ant. Urza smiled. It really didn't matter what she was there for. She would come to find out in time. The world kind of worked like that... Pushing you towards your destiny.

User Image As Urza sat up and stretch. Her mind no longer focused on the wonders of the world around her. Urza made her way to her feet, scratching her head she yawed in a sleepy daze. Urza decided that she needed to learn a bit more about the plant and animal life of the surrounding area. Quickly Urza made her way to the dojo, looking to see if they had any books on the wilderness of Otogakure. Finding just the thing she needed she plopped herself on the ground just outside of the dojo and began to read. Urza had always had a hard time reading books and retaining the information. She had spent so much time memorizing a single book that she found it hard not to get information mixed up when she tried to recall stuff.

Urza flipped through the book looking for facts that may come particularly in use. Poison fauna vs medical herbs, stuff like that. Urza focused all of her concentration on the book. Blocking out the world around her as she read. While Urza's retention skills needed some work, she had pretty good concentration. Whenever she read it was like the world around her became silent, there was nothing but her and the words on the page. Urza looked through the book and made mental notes about particular fauna that looked similar but had vastly different uses. She read about a white flower that had four petals being lethal when mixed into water, and than about another white flower with three petals that when boiled in water helped to fight negative bacteria in the stomach. Things like that worried Urza. What if they found a three petal flower, when really it was a four petal flower with one petal missing?

Urza continued reading as she moved into the wildlife section. Urza had never really worried about the wild animals of her home land. There were large clawed and fanged beast that roamed here and there, but she never truly had to worry because none of them were strong enough to piece the metal of her armor. But Urza had no idea what type of beasts lay in store here. Urza read paying particular attention to the smaller creatures. It was easy to fight a bear, it was hard to fight a tick. Urza read about the poisonous monsters of the land. Snakes and biting insects that could be lethal. Urza made sure she knew each one and how to identify it before she moved on to the next. Urza spent the most time on this section, because while fauna was usually a conscious decisions, beasts and insects wandered on their own, and were unpredictable.

The next section of the book talked about the landscape of Oto.though there was not much interesting or particularly deadly about the land it was still go to know. If she knew were the lakes and rivers were in relation to the mountain she would be able to insure her own survival should she ever get lost. That and if they ever had to fight others on their own turf she knew were the would set up their offensive camp. So while maybe not as pressing an issue as learning about the plants and animals of the land, learning the lay of the land had its own advantages.

Urza closed the book feeling confident she had retained just about as much as she would from it. Urza than picked out another from the small collection that looked promising. It covered the basics of ninja life, and the most basic of information a ninja should know. Urza cracked the book and became immediately deflated, as even on the first couple of pages she had no idea what they were talking about. Urza sighed taking the book with her back outside and sitting down. It was hard enough on the young girl to have to know all the laws of her own land, now to have to try and memorize the laws of another? It seemed like an almost impossible task.

User Image Urza cracked open the book about ninja life and began reading. The first capture was about the five major ninja villages. Each one was represented by the five major elements of the world. Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, and Lightning. It went on to talk a little bit about each of the lands and how they started. It covered the names of each of the main military states but otherwise gave no other information. Urza was fascinated by the colorful history of the land. It had been ravaged by a few great battles known as the ninja wars. Urza decided she would have to check the Otogakure library to see if there was more information on them. there were bound to be battle strategies and other such things.

Urza briefly skimmed the rest of the book but decided not to focus on it to much. She had a plan of attack now. After she was done training here she would go to the library to read up on the ninja wars and see if she couldn't find information on tactics. Part of being a shield would be being able to control the flow of battle, and the best way to do that was to know how battle worked. Urza closed the book and put it back before wondering into the grounds again. Urza was never a real heavy reader, but for stuff like that she may make an exception. For now she would would on getting stronger, and maybe she could convince Miyako to work with her on a jutsu later. It had only been one day, but if Urza could show up to the second class with two jutsu's in belt she would have felt more comfortable about whatever they did.

User Image Urza having put away her book looked around the dojo for the pads she had seen earlier. She wanted to work on strength training again, but at the same time she didn't feel like marking up another tree was a good idea. She had already done in three and she wasn't about to go an ruin the look of the beautiful training ground just so she could get her jollies. Urza scrummaged around the dojo until at last she found them. As she pulled one out however she relised just getting them to the tree was going to be a good form of training. They weren't exactly the lightest things in the world and urza wanted to make sure she had at least five just in case she cracked one open and it started to lose its stuffing.

Urza pulled out the first one and dragged it along behind her. She would have lifted it and carried it if the damn things didn't weigh as much as she did, if not more. Urza had only gotten the pad half way to the tree before she had to stop to catch her breath. Just moving the things was going to be enough of a challenge for the young girl. Urza caught her breath and dragged the thing the rest of the way to the tree leaving it on the wayside as she returned to the dojo to grab the next one. Urza really had no intention of breaking through all five, but she would rather they all be out there and ready than to have to interrupt herself later to go and get another.

Urza made her way back to the dojo and manage to free another one, pulling it behind her out of the building. The heavy bag was such a burden on the girl, but at the same time she really couldn't complain to much. Besides, if she could find some paint she could turn these pads into perfect practice pads to train against. Urza laughed as she pictured painting a painted person. Something about it seemed so silly, yet oh so right. Urza couldn't wait to give that a god once she finally had the whole system set up. She had a feeling that that time would come for a while however, as just dragging the things along the ground was taking a good chunk of time.

Urza continued dragging the heavy pad behind her as she made her way to her training location. She had picked an area with a good cluster of trees, just in case she wanted to shake things up a bit and use a different tree, she wouldn't have to go far. Urza laughed as she threw the pad she had just brought on top of the other one, "I'm kinda glad I'm doing this alone, anyone else would probably say I just looked foolish." Urza placed a hand on her hip and shifter he weight as she looked at the two pads. Now that she had gotten them here... How was she going to hang them up?

Urza sighed as she flopped down on top of the two pad. Urza spread her body out in a star and closed her eyes. Laying on top of the pads was so much more relaxing than the ground. Though the pads had the weird smell of dust and dirt as though they hadn't been used in a while. It made Urza wonder where academy students normally trained. I mean sure, Miyako, Alucard, and herself were here. But she hadn't seen Mido, Yokijo, or Kina the entire time she had been training here. Nor any of the other kids in the academy, though none of them had really stood out to Urza so even if she had seen aother person she doubt they would have made much of an impact on her.

Uzra jumped up ready to get back to work. She had been laying down for too long and she still had three more mats to pull out. Urza rushed back to the dojo and freed another mat from the clutter of the building. She wondered when the last time the place had been cleaned and organized was. Urza wiggled and tugged on the mat hoping to move it along, but it was stuck under a training post and a small pile of weapons which she had to clean first. Urza moved all the goods and with the pad finally free began to make her way back to the cluster of trees. Urza carried it along behind her as she thought of how she would attach them to the actual trees when the time came.

Urza finally made it all the way back to her cluster of trees and tossed the pad on top of the other two. Carefully she looked at the trees trying to figure out the best way to go about setting up the pads. Urza figured the best way to do it was to just set them up and tie it to the tree in three places. Near the top, the bottom, and right down the middle. Urza tested to see how high a pad would stand if she didn't elevate it at all. Urza was lucky that even for being tall for her age she was still short, as the pad reached up to about a foot higher than Urza's own head. "Perfect. Now I just need to find some rope to tie them off!" Urza smiled as she made her way back to the dojo.

Urza rummaged through all of the clutter and stuff in the dojo. They had a surprisingly good array of weapons just laying about, though knowing the police of the village it was most likely more well guarded than she assumed, and she was sure stealing anything was strictly prohibited. Not that it mattered, Urza's morals would never let her steal from her own people, not something that she would only that turn around and sell. Urza finished her quest for rope successfully as she found a few spools and wrapped them around her arm. Having successfully found the rope there was just the matter of bringing over two more mats. Urza took hold of one and began dragging it behind her with one hand.

Urza only made it about half way to her tree before she had to take a moment to catch her breath however. The other pads she had carried behind her with both hands making it a snap, but doing it with one hand took a lot more out of the girl. Hind sight 20/20 Urza figured she could have just left the rope in the dojo for the time being until she got the mats to the trees, than it would have been a snap just to go make one more trip. But Urza was stubborn, she figured if she could take them both in one trip she could just Hang the pads up when she was done and save herself the unnecessary journey. But it seemed fate had deemed she would have to use that time anyways, because she was stuck until she caught her breath.

When Urza finally felt reinvigored she dragged the pad the rest of the way making a second pile next to the three. She uncoiled the rope and tested to make sure they would be able to wrap all the way around the tree and still have enough slack to be easily tightened. Satisfied that they would be Urza tossed the rope on top of the pads and made her way back to the dojo for the last pad. As she walked back she thought about what she would do once she had them all hung. It was no easy task and she would most likely have to rest a bit before she kept working at her muscles. After all she didn't want to tire them out to much or she wouldn't be able to keep up the pace of training she had set for herself.

User Image As Urza made her way back to the dojo she noticed the mess she had cleaned off the top of the pads had made there way back on. Sighing she decided it would just be the best for everyone if she organized the dojo a bit. It was a bit time consuming but it had to get done and Urza really didn't mind being the one to do it. She was well suited for heavy lifting and labor work, and it really didn't bother her because she knew someone at some point in time would be grateful that she had done it. Even if it wasn't anything huge. Urza lifted up the weapons and organized the, against a blank section of wall, where she was sure they most likely rested before other students had gotten to them. When all was said and done Urza sighed looking around. All that time just so she could move a pad. Seemed kinda silly now.

Urza grabbed the pad with both hands and hoisted it over her head, deciding she would try to carry the thing all the way back as opposed to just dragging it along the ground. Dust fell from the only thing and cause Urza to sniffle and sneeze, but it didn't take long for her to make her way to the training area. The pad was big and awkward to carry, but Urza made it work. After all, this in its own right was training, so she had to give it her all down to the last drop of sweat. As Urza walked she could feel the thing flex and bounce with her rhythm, bopping her on the head every so often. Urza was excited to beath the ever living heaven out of the bags, if just so she could get pay back on this one.

User Image Urza had to toss the mat on the ground and wait a minute before moving on. Her shoulders were getting sore from carrying the thing, and if it had bopped her on the head one more time, Maker help her she would have torn the thing in half. Urza decided to make the best of a bad situation on threw herself on top of the mat as she waited for her arms to recover and her breath to slow down. Urza watched the clouds as they changed shape in the sky, being wisped along by the high up air currents. Urza wondered what it would be like to be a cloud. Drifting along without a care or though in the world. Going wherever the wind took her.

User Image Urza closed her eyes as she pictured herself as a cloud. A white blob in the sky with no form. She felt light as a feather, and cool as a summer breeze. Urza counted her breaths and she rested. feeling at peace just laying there with the cool winds washing over her. She wondered what type of weather Oto had in the later months. Would it be snowy and cold like her home? Urza hopped so, that was her favorite time of year. When the white ice fell from the sky and it felt nice and warm to be brandishing your full plate. Sometimes the hotter months were a bit bothersome, as metal was not the sort of material to breath very well.

User Image Urza slowly drifted to sleep as she lay there on the mat, she had been rather comfortable to be on something other than the hard ground and had let it get the better of her. Urza nodded off and began to dream of home. She remembered great big stone castles and church bells ringing every hour. She missed the sound of Church bells and the songs of the choir during evening prayer. Always such lovely beautiful songs, and they always put Urza at ease. If she had been any good at singing she most likely would have traded her life as a knight to become a part of the Chantry choir. Never in her life had she heard humanly things sound so angelic. And the fact she was treated to it every evening was a huge bonus. They didn't have that in the land of ninja. It was the only thing that made her feel homesick.

User Image Urza woke herself up as she tried to stand up in a daze. Her small nap had left her even more exhausted than what she had been prior. Urza had to force herself to her feet and even then she stumbled around a bit. She was was going to have nay hope of carrying the mat all the way back to the training area she would have to wake herself up first. Urza stood and did ten jumping jacks to get the blood flowing all the way through her body once more and to increase her heart rate. That was her only sure fire way of making sure she woke up, because she didn't have enough water to waste on a shock method. Yawn Urza finished her jumping jacks and looked at the mat. No use she was still to tired.

Urza decided she would pass the time and wake herself up by stretching. It would also be good for her because she most likely built up a few cramps here and there due to going from hard labor to resting in such a short time span. Urza bent over and touched her toes counting to ten. She worked out ever muscle she could think of to make sure that she could just tackle this pad and get it back to the others. She didn't understand why this one was giving her so much trouble, while the other ones had simply been a grab and go, with minor breaks in between each mat. Maybe it was because of the way she had chose to carry it, though she highly doubted that changing such a small thing like that would put such a drain on her energy.

User Image As urza finally finished working out the kinks in her armor she took hold of the mat and began dragging it behind her with both hands as she had done with the others. Within moments she found herself in her training area and hastily threw the mat into the pile, falling in after it. The whole experience of getting these pads here had been a bit much on Urza As she sighed, accidentally breathing in a bit of the dust that had gathered in a small layer on the pads. Coughing Urza pushed herself up, determined to get this finished so she could take a small break with some meditation or breathing exercises.

Urza put up the first pad, Making sure it slunk a bit against the tree. That would provide the most padding for her fist and make sure that neither she nor the tree took to much damage on the next beat down she unleashed upon them. Urza took a coil of rope and carefully tied the middle first. This would ensure that while she was tying the other two the pad wouldn't slip or fall. Urza made sure the rape was nice and tight before knotting it and moving on to the next. When Urza finally had all three ropes tied off she looked at it. All it needed was a bit of flair and it was just as good as any hay and wood training dummy that they had at the Chantry. Better most likely because it was less likely to break apart if she hit it to hard.

Urza sighed throwing herself on to the remaining four mats. They made as good a bed as any and Urza was starting to feel a bit weary from all the training she had been doing. Urza looked off into the distance as she wondered what Alucard and Miyako were doing. She wondered if it would be wrong of her to move on ahead with out them and try another one of the jutsu listed in the book. Urza instantly thought back to what Miyako had said and decided against it. Unless she had someone there that knew what they were doing she really didn't want to risk accidentally blowing herself up. Urza shut her eyes and decided it was best for her to take a small nap before she started moving on with her regime.

Miyako remained seated while Urza continued with her training. She didn't seem up to the point of wanting to train physically quite yet and so wanted to sharpen her mind, and what better way than reflecting on one's life? It was vitally important to remember information so as to pass it along to the next person. She would start with the earliest memory she could... she drew a blank. She couldn't remember that much. She was only a child after all.

Though... something did pop into her head. She remembered her mother calling her a klutz. If she remembered correctly, it was around the age of... eight? Seven? Yeah definitely seven. She would be running around outside in the yard, and no matter how hard she tried, she'd always end up on the ground with scraped hands and knees. Her mother swore she would kill herself by tripping over her own two feet. Miyako simply smiled at her mother's humor. Such a sweet lady...

She tried to focus on other memories that had a similar response, but she couldn't think of anything. She was too distracted with the outside world. The wind, the trees, the birds... it was all so relaxing. If one didn't spend time to sit and look at it, they would surely miss the beauty. Stop and smell the roses... The saying reminded her of something, but she couldn't put her mind to it.

She tried thinking harder on what the saying meant to her, but she couldn't remember. Thinking hard on the thought wasn't going to get her results. When you weren't thinking was when you would remember it. Such a silly concept, but it never failed her, so she let her mind wander again. There were two birds singing to each other in the trees. She knew that had something to tie in with the roses, but she let her mind wander again.

Instead of thinking, she listened to the song. It was beautiful. Not many people would understand her sometimes. She had a rougher shell, but was soft on the inside... like a turtle. She did like turtles... She took out her notebook and began drawing a turtle. It would make a good puppet... one to protect myself. the plans began forming in her head as she drew.

She remembered about the roses. There was a girl a few years back... her name was Rose, and she said that the first time they met. She was.... nine. Yeah and the girl was traveling through, but that wasn't the first time they met. They met when Miyako was seven as well... They had traveled back and forth between a small village in the Land of Fire and Otogakure. That was back when everything was somewhat peaceful. Though meeting her had nothing to do with roses...

She tried thinking with the train of thought, but nothing came further. She knew it was a happy memory, or was it sad? No... it was happy, but followed with sadness. She wished she could remember, but it would return eventually. So she let her eyes wander around and returned to her drawing pad. It was beginning to take shape. This would be her second puppet...

Her first was a normal human-like puppet for offense. When she would fight, she couldn't rely on herself to fight. She didn't have the strength the others had, but that's what the puppet was for. Her fighting skills were secondary if she would be found and attacked head-on. She needed to work on her stealth as well... but it was common sense... right?

Her mind then remembered what she was trying to recall. The happy memory... they were alone in the woods two years after the day they met. She commented on stopping to smell the roses, which the pun was intended, and they both laughed, but that wasn't the happiest moment. No... it was shortly after. They were in the forest near there home when it happened. The birds were singing and they were watching them.. and then...

Miyako couldn't remember. Something told her that memory was blocked off, and for a good reason. She wanted to remember so bad, but she couldn't bring it up. She sighed and returned to her drawing. It was actually looking like a turtle and it was going to be big... big enough to hide inside. She smiled at her new creation...
