That was my thoughts exactly... especially since I watched the Transformes 2 -film yesterday. xd I was like "ooh, robots!" before I remembered that they are not real. blaugh

Tomorrow is going to be a interesting day for my country. We have the final round of the president elections. Tomorrow we'll know if we get openly gay president or the old guy with the young wife. Actually, both men above their 50's and their spouses are both around their 30's. Only difference is that the other spouse is a female and other male. This should be interesting. 3nodding

I haven't seen number two! Is it any good? After the first one, I just kind of assumed that the sequel will be crap like all sequels. Wouldn't it be cool if they were real?!
"Man I got woken up from two Transformers fighting outside my house." "Could be worse, my one friend Jamal's house was torn down by one." "Damn!"

Wow that sounds amazing! The US won't get an openly gay president for years. What country do you live in?

Well, I suppose it depends on what you consider as good. smile It was good entertainment but I think the genre in general is not very "deep". It's is supposed to be bit mindless entertainment. If you like to see lots of fancy robots and stuff, then it was a good movie. If you want deep contemplating on the possibility of alien race on our planet and deep characters, then I would say it was not that good. whee

I live in Finland, in the Scandinavia. The candidate have created a lot of conversation and heated discussion of if we can/should/want to have openly gay president or not. The both candidates are in knowledge vise very similar and equal but the sexuality of these candidates have really created a lot of talk. In the polls indicate that he is going to lose by a bit to the other candidate but still, you never know. It's going to be interesting and I really think that this has really been a good eye opener and some of those strict conservatives we have in here really needed the shock.

That would be a sight! lol Today is the day. I'll let you know what was the result. We'll know the results around nine this evening so in about 10 hours or so. Ooh, this is so exciting!

Edit: About 90% of the votes have been calculated and it was as suspected. The "regular guy" won. Interesting though is that the openly gay candidate still got about 40% of the votes so he is not that far away as suspected. Our country still has hope to become truly an open minded and civilized place. smile

So if um, the gay candidate doesn't win...is that the end for him? I know that in Canada, if the party candidate doesn't get the vote...he/she goes back to representing his riding.

I wouldn't say it's the end of him. He's a member of the parliament so he'll be getting back to his normal duties next week. The guy who now won lost the president elections last time to the current president so nothing is stopping the gay candidate to try it again next time. smile

Well my hopes (and I wish I could vote) are with the gay candidate...what's his name anyways?

His name is Pekka Haavisto. The counting of the votes has now ended and the "regular guy" won with 62% of the votes. I'd say we are still going to get a good president but it was interesting to see how much votes Pekka managed to get. He got about 1 million votes and that's a lot in my country since there are about 4 million possible voters at total. biggrin

I find this all kind of irritating.

It should not matter what they do in their private lives. It should not matter what race they are. It should not matter even what their religion or ethics are. Because governing should be blind to those things and have no say in them. As long as they do their job and uphold freedom, they could be a genetically-engineered orangutan with a penchant for polygamy for all I care.

I am all for gay rights (I go both ways, so I have a 50% stake in them no less), but I am for ALL RIGHTS OUTRIGHT. Saying that a gay candidate is anything other than a candidate is essentially saying they are different in a(n albeit positive in this case) discriminatory way. He should just be seen as a person, not "the openly gay candidate" and judged in accordance to the relevant conditions – his ability to perform the job.
