*though unseen, Seraphims grin was almost deep enough to be FELT.*

Poor Iden... how much work have you put into stabilising Isabella since I left? Phone calls to the family, sending her to the one place you never normally would ask a favour of, relying on mother to deal with her while you sit here in hopes of revenge... all damages are easily undone? You have much to learn, and still more to admit to yourself. Two simple actions on my part, the effects so obvious. All it would take for me to send your lady plummeting back into the abyss is to appear before her once more, for a mre five minutes, and any 'repair' you have achived will be back to square one. Still... at least you choose to play. And you maintain your temper, as is expected.

Prehaps a wager then. A little bet to make my time here worthwhile. Should I win... you will submit your physical body to me for two hours. Should you win... your prize is your choice. Whatever game we play, I also leave in your hands. What say you?
PostPosted: Thu Oct 25, 2007 2:10 pm

He shrugged.

All things come in time, and no undue effort has been spent. Should you take her down once more, than I shall lift her to her feet, as I will always do.

Then his smile turned dark, slightly.

Revenge...No, that is not my way. Vengeance is Roan's title, her role. I am here for absolution. You have mistaken my intent. I am not here for your games. I accept, nor offer no wager, for I benefit in no way. I am simply here to bring this matter one step further to its due close...

His smile slowly faded back into his casual, carefree grin, as he relished the soft squeals Liela issued in pleasure.

Then what makes you think I intend to appear before you, foolish fledgeling?

*His voice purred, unconcerned, uninflamed by Iden;s tone*

There's no POINT if you dont play for reward Iden. I told you before. To perform is to maintain the balance, to fail to do so is to only incur loss. There are no compensations, no remorse.
You sit there with your proverbial sword and shield, but all the while you need a foe to achieve your absolution. The good fall once, and fall hard. Even the wings of angels cannot keep the Fallen aloft. Play... or I will find a better playmate, and the results will be again tailored to my will.

*shadows stirred as Seraphim paused, then continued in a dark lilt*

Or prehaps I will simply arrange a DIFFERENT play mate for you...
PostPosted: Thu Oct 25, 2007 2:30 pm

Your choice. My reward is just to see this end. But I accept no wager. If you want something of me, then you'll have to take it.

Maddeningly calm. Almost insanely so. He wasn't here to play Sera's games, that much was clear. If anything, hewas here for his own.

You listen poorly. A knight without a foe is no knight at all. If there's nothing in it for me, I wont bother Iden. Sit, enjoy the silence and the calm. It is always unwise to try to beat the chess master at his own game. Let me know when you change your mind...

*There was a brief but distinct sense that Sera was no longer there, for all he had not shown himself at all anyway. Yet, like the static of a phone line in use, it was as if a line was open to him, his senses still about the area. WHich of course they were - Jimmy swore from the counter top, then vanished amidst the bottles. Prehaps this then would be the end of it for Iden. Prehaps not.*

Good thing I'm no knight. Mercenary is more appropriate. And if its unwise to play the master at his game, then why would you think me to play yours?

He remained seated. If what he said was true, and he had left, then it wouldn't matter that he was sitting there unarmed anyways. So he considered, and continued to pet Liela for a few seconds more.

Besides. You have yet to state the nature of the game. Why wager on a game I know nothing of?

It was just as much to himself as it could possibly be to Sera. He was musing by this point.

Hmmm...what do you think, Liela...

The rodent scampered away as he stood, to cross the bar. Ignoring the rantings of the insect, if it was still there, he began to choose from the list of drinks available. He selected a single bottle, then pulled it away to take with him back to the couch. Yet he left it unopened as the ferret crawled over his shoulder once more and took position within his lap. Idly his gloved hands stroked the creature, and he waited. This was clearly not over, so he would remain in place until such a time as the game resumed.

*Darkness coiled behind the bar, lines of black shadowy thorns seeping out into the main tavern, seeking, scything across the wooden boards, linking up with the natural shadows until a full network of laticed thorny briars sprea across the floor. With it, came the feel of overwhelming malice, hate and violence. Seraphim's voice drifted almost lazily over this as the briars began tp ulse*

Last chance Iden... who will you play with? Me... or my little friend here?
PostPosted: Fri Oct 26, 2007 1:42 pm

Once again, his tone was dull, and uninterested. It was as if he was utterly unphased by whatever monstrosity Seraphim had brought to him.

Personally, you make all the better playmate. You don't make me retch from raw presence. Besides. I've no games of my own to play, so I'm afraid the decision falls to you. After all...you seem to be the one pulling the strings.

He shrugged, and stood slowly to stretch. The ferret skittered away with a yelp at the unexpected movement.

If I were to say you, what would the game be, hmmm? A contest of the body, or of the mind?

Your choice. Its only fitting after all that the home team chooses its battleground, is it not?

*Seraphims eyes opened in the shadows, his presence closer now than had been he night before, his smug demeaour over powering.*

Let the mercenary decide, and what the stakes are.
PostPosted: Fri Oct 26, 2007 1:55 pm

If it were truly up to the mercenary, you'd not be here. You'd be in your reality, leaving me to my own.

He relocated to a table, bottle in hand. With his foot, he slid the chair across from him out.

Drink?

He left the invitation open while he poured himself a shot and downed it, all while appearing to ponder it in his unusually impassive way.

Somehow I expected you to be a little more forceful, and a little more insidious. I have little to offer you, though, apart from myself. And that is something I cannot freely give, because it is not something I have the authority TO give. So thus is the problem with choosing the stakes. So I suppose it comes to matching the value of your own potential loss. Should I win, you leave me, and anyone I hold connections to, very much alone. To match that...hmmm. That takes thought.

*The boy stepped out of the shadows, his dark hair flickering across his face as she came ot the table and sat, kicking his boots one ove rthe other, his likeness ot Corbin really at odds with his manner tonight*

I am not from this place, playing means everything to me. You are so like MY brother, yet so not. It fascinates me to watch you, to poke various buttons and see what they do. This is where Corbin DeSeer lives, this is HIS brother Iden. Whats different? Why? Is it better than what I have? If so, why? If not, why not? What can I take home form here, and what use will it be? How do thse Camarilla dogs work? What are their drives and goals? How does a family so ill-acquired stay together WITHOUT the Vaulderie? I cannot help but play.
Force will not get me what I truly desire from here, nor will over complicated plots. I do what I came here to do, that is all. If you win, I agree to remove myself from your direct life and of your loved ones. If I win... you know what my request is. 2 hours. I'll not take anything, nor mentally touch you. Unless you think of something you CAN offer me instead.
PostPosted: Fri Oct 26, 2007 2:10 pm

He sighed.

If this body is all I can offer, then I suppose it is all I can offer...

He shrugged, then claimed another shot of the whiskey.

I can only ask, though, why you turn to me as opposed to one of the more prominent sons of Roan. Why not Dag, or Az or Zach? Hell, why not Yoh? I daresay you've already encountered your counterpart, so...why the sudden skip along the food chain, I wonder.

He breathed another, more relaxed sigh as he shifted position in his seat.

So...all thats left, then, is to choose the game...

He rolled his shoulders, popping them softly.

Ya know...that massage was actually far better than I would like to admit.

I find a good massage always helps mental anguish along. Take your lady for example.

*Deft fingers stole the whiskey and helped themselves, before Sera grinned*

Dagoth and the others will have their turn. I come to you because the paradox is strongest here. The challenge I must set best suited to YOU, rather then your brethren, for all I have plans to visit each of them. Yoachi, unfortunately, shall be left out of things. Do give him my best wishes however. I understand he looks to you as a father in this realm.
Choose your game, mercenary. The stakes are set.
PostPosted: Fri Oct 26, 2007 2:21 pm

Indeed. He does...and I suppose I do try to fill the role, when I can. Poor kid should never have been involved in any of this mess.

He considered taking another shot, but instead he simply set the empty glass aside.

Personally, I'ld just as soon shoot you here and now, just for the sake of enjoying the kick of a gun in my hand.

It was an offhand comment, more than anything, as his fingers toyed with the guns holstered under his arms.

And moreso...I wish to know just how you grew to be so damn fast.

He shrugged.

Oh well. I'm afraid as for the game, you've caught me at a loss. Apart from the fervent desire to deck someone, I've got a distinct lack of ideas.

Do you honestly think shooting me would work?

* A wry smile, then Seraphim let his own hands drift down to the guns at his own waist - similar to the ROMAN and Longinus guns Corbin carried, Seraphims bore slightly different names, obscured for now by their holsters*

My speed is not up for discussion right now.... lets just say I practised lots. We can deck each other until the floor runs red with blood if you so wish, we can stand and shoot each other until we run out of bullets, we can sharpshoot, track, hunt or play cards for all I care. Make your choice Iden. Otherwise i WILL seek your female friend once again. She really DOES sound pretty when she screams.
