And so in one of the rings, Sasha the NPC Battle Girl would begin to stretch as her opponent, some elderly looking musician guy, asked one of the referees to watch his violin case and walking stick while he too stepped into the arena. After a few more seconds, they were told they could begin.
“An old man? Seriously?” Sasha muttered. Blackbird rubbed the back of his head. “Hey, I’m not that old. I’d rather not fight you either, actually. Do you think you could just tap out for me?” he asked her with a grin. The question was met with a short laugh as Sasha raised herself up into a fighting stance.
“As if! That pokemon egg is gonna be mine!” she yelled as she ran over to Blackbird. With great speed, she spun around to slam her heel into Blackbird’s head with a spinning back kick. As she completed her move and hit nothing, her eyes widened in shock to see that Blackbird was no longer there anymore.
She felt an arm wrap around her shoulder, and a shiver ran down Sasha’s spine. She slowly looked up to see Blackbird right next to her, casually grinning down at her during the fight. “Pokemon egg? So you’re after the prize?”
H-how did he get right next to me? Is this some sort of trick? There’s no way he can be that fast with such a huge gut.
Growling, Sasha spun and ran an uppercut up to Blackbird’s chin. He just casually swatted it away like it was a leaf blowing in his face. “You’re definitely good though, all tuned up and ready to play.” She launched another punch, which was met with the same kind of nonchalant block. “You might have had a chance if your first opponent wasn’t me.”
“Stop talking!” she screamed as she ran at the musician in a flurry of forward punches. For every blow, Blackbird stepped backwards, ducking and bobbing and weaving the blows with a massive grin on his face. No contact was made.
He shouldn’t be able to carry all that weight so well! This can’t be happening, this speed is effortless!
With fierce determination in her eyes, the girl backed up a step and then leaped forward, throttling an outstretched knee at Blackbird’s chest. The musician simply spun out of the way, leaving Sasha to crash onto the floor.
“Damnit! Take this seriously!” she cried. At least if he outclassed her, he could end this battle. But he wasn’t even trying to fight. “Like I said before, I don’t wanna hit you. Come one now, why do you want this egg so badly?”
There was something compellingly genuine about the way he asked the question. Loosening up her stance a bit, Sasha’s eyes darted away from Blackbird’s. “Fighting…is the only thing I can do well. I can’t catch pokemon on my own, so this is how I’ll get my first one!”
Blackbird nodded and stroked his beard. “I see. But if you think this is the only way for you to get pokemon, then don’t you think you need to increase your skill as a trainer?” Sasha began to waver. “I-I-“ “You are already an excellent fighter. If you want a pokemon so badly, it is time for you to learn a new skill. Unfortunately, this isn’t your scene. But I’m sure that you’re capable of becoming a trainer someday.”
Sasha lowered her stance and looked up at Blackbird while he walked over to her. “…you really think so?” “I know so. But in order to do that, you’ll have to stop what you’re doing here….sooooo can you please tap out?”
The Battle Girl looked conflicted for a second, and then she took a seat crosslegged on the floor. As the countdown began, she looked like she was about to cry. “I cannot believe…I was defeated so easily…” Blackbird sat down next to her, putting a hand on her shoulder. “This isn’t a defeat. This is just the end of one song and the beginning of the next one.”
The countdown had ended. Sasha was defeated.

Robert looked over at the female before him. "Well, you look better than you were yesterday. Very well." Robert spoke. Once the bell rang Robert put himself into motion. He expected she would strike at him either as he came upon her or in counter attack. Once Robert was in striking range, Robert would hop back, just out of striking range if he saw her go for a strike and then come in with a lunging fist aimed at her face. If she made no move to strike, he'd swing himself into a low sweep kick to try and knock her onto her back.

Henrietta felt nervous. The battle had begun but she hadn't moved. Not yet. She stood in the stance she'd decided to take, arms bent, apart, knees straight. A rudimentary looking boxing stance. Her eyes were focused, open and she said nothing to N. Not at first.
Then her lips parted and she said, "I-i h-have to w-win. F-for Darumi."

((I want to apologize to you, Nio, 'cause i won't really be able to post today. I have to prep for a surprise birthday party for my little sister, and I don't know how long it will take for me to clean up and decorate the house.
I'm also assuming I'm in charge of DJing, which is hilarious.))

((I gotted permission.))
Lily hit the floor, bracing herself with her other arm. The side of her head ached and she felt her equilibrium temporarily set off. She took no time waiting and, with one hand, she threw herself up to her feet.
Bill took a step back to give her room, his arm already cocked. As it came down Lily stepped back, dodging it and then, as she landed with the foot, she immediately set forward, raising with a hand to slam it into Bill's nose.
His vision flashed as his nose exploded into pain and he stumbled back. As his vision returned, it was just in time to block the double headed kick Salieri had tried before. Only this was different, she was bending forward, her upper body coming up and moving behind Bill.
Bill rose his hands, aiming to grab her hips to slam her but it was too late. She flipped him as she grabbed his legs, pulling them out from under him. In a move of skilled acrobatics, the scene ended with Bill on his back and Lily straddling him.
A double hand thrust to her gut quickly removed her from him and Lily hit the ground. She made to recover when she felt her midsection hit by a spear. Bill toppled her and now was above her. She made to move but felt her arms pinned above her head.
Then Bill's head slammed into her head. Her nose busted and she resisted the urge to cry out, her teeth grit. Positioning her legs against his gut, she'd kick him up and off of her and the two would return to their feet.
Lily felt dizzy and unsure now. She'd wasted people like him before, easily. But this seemed different. Bill stood as if nothing had happened, as if her blows had done nothing. They had, but he was stoic. Her own skin glistened with sweat, his had no such thing, as if this was effortless.
Damnit.
She attacked this time, jumping above his boot as it came up and she'd make to strike his face again. Only she found her arm caught and pulled up, above her head. Her knees moved then, slamming into Bill's face but the forward motion of his leg carried him forward and his other hand came, slamming into her gut with a thrust.
She fell then, to the ground, losing her breakfast. She lay, in the end, in a crumpled heap.
The ten count happened and that was that. With a shrug, Bill left the arena. "Silly women."

Dun-dun!Salieri cocked her head to side slightly, pondering what Robert had said. Yesterday? Hmm, did I see him yesterday?Robert jumped forward, and then back because Salieri would not budge. He hadn't thrown a strike, and so there was no first move. And then he had to reverse all of his forward momentum in order to jump backwards. After that, he'd have to change his momentum yet again to stop going backwards and kick forwards. So in that amount of time, all Salieri did was switch which leg was in the front and which was in the back of her stance. Oh, maybe I ran into him when I was drunk? Oh man, I hope I didn't do anything stupid, that'd be embarrassing-oh, here's the first move. She lifted up her front leg as soon as she saw what sort of motion Robert had thrown himself into and the kick began. His kick wasn't going any higher than a sweep. And so it was an easy interception for her. She'd stomped down with her raised leg towards Robert's outstretched shin. He was in full motion for the sweep, so he wouldn't be able to retract his leg now. Even if he stopped his own kick, it'd still be blocked by the bottom of Salieri's shoe unless he somehow completely changed the position of his leg in an instant. By stopping his kick with her own, Salieri's would increase her momentum while decreasing Robert's. She had minimized the element of time on her move by combining an offense with a defense. It would still be a painful blow to Robert's leg, as the shin was one of the more sensitive parts of the leg, yet it would also keep Salieri safe and help power up her next move. While her foot stomped downwards, Salieri's upper body leaned forwards with the momentum she had created with her kick. One of her arms snapped forward like a dart, whipping with a side hook to Robert's face. The fist was curled tightly and the hook went to the outside of Robert's arms. If he wanted to block it with an arm, he'd leave his center more vulnerable. But with the blow's power, he could end up on the ground if he took it full force. **** N's eyes narrowed at the girl. There was something familiar about the way she spoke. Darumi? He knew that name. And with that knowledge, he came up with a few different possibilities to who she was, all narrowing down to one of his favorite candidates. So she seeked some sort of justice as well? How noble. "I respect that you have a goal, but so do I!" He ran at her and jumped, leaping an incredibly distance over to Henrietta. When he would land, he'd land two steps in front of her if his calculations were correct. And they almost always were. Upon landing, he was low to the ground. One more step, and he was within range for a lunging uppercut. Which is exactly what he did next, as in the next two steps a powerful fist would shoot up at "Tess Avalite's" jaw. He positioned his body and punch at the maximum angle for him to possibly get speed and go through her stance. With high speed, he could possibly get in the first hit. And if she went into the air, he could maybe follow up with another move. His eyes looked up at her, sparkling an intense green that radiated his rage. His emotions were shown through his eyes, and then his feelings were put into his fist. Each attack he would make would be dedicated to one of his friends. This move was for one of the ones back at home. "I will NOT LOSE! WAA~ARGLE-PANCH-EE!"

Here it came, the moment the battle started. Henrietta's heart raced as N jumped in the air. Kicking with one foot, she'd step back. Two feet turned into four. Still, the uppercut came. Henrietta's eyes were open, wide, observing everything. She twisted herself to the side as N came upward, too late to stop himself as he launched.
His fist would fly passed Henrietta as she was at his side, her own fist, weak as it might have been, came toward the side of his jaw. A knock out point if she hit just right, otherwise it was still a blow to the face.
She felt bad for it, but she had to save Darumi.

My blow missed? Impossible, the Wargle Punch has a success rate of 83%! It seems my candidate has some skill after all. "Save your friend?"
N leaned down after the punch, and the punch would sweep right over his head and into his sweet hat, which was knocked off into the air. His reaction time was almost superhuman, because if it wasn't then he would have been out cold.
He turned to face Henrietta from his low position, bringing his leg out and up towards her side as he did so while supporting himself one one hand and his other leg. N's heel was going right for her stomach: he could see that her body seemed slightly emaciated, so he suspected that a blow to a hungry stomach might give him an advantage in the battle.
The way he moved was almost feral, and the kick was akin to something you would see from a monkey based pokemon. Again, his eyes met hers, but now there was something primal to them, brought out by the rush from fighting. The green in his eyes became that of a wild jungle.
"Let's see you try! Si-mi SAH-WEEEEPU!"

He was fast, Henrietta could see that. He'd moved under her punch and she'd quickly drawn it back. He turned to face her now and she would twist around his attack.
Her stance was akin to a kendo stance, her footing the same, one foot slightly raised allowed her to kick with powerful force, to cover distance quite quickly.
Two rapid steps placed her out of range of the sweep as she moved to be at N's side again. This time it was a kick the lowered boys face that came out. Not as precise as the knock out blow, but still pretty good.
Henrietta's own determination would shine through here. Her last few fights had occurred when she was tired and in agony. For example, when she fought Jeffery it had been after being beaten for two days in a row, falling ten or more feet twice, having a tree land on her, being attacked by three people and starving as well as being attacked by a Boldore.
Now she was better, healed by Shery, energy back through rest. For once, the true fighter could shine.
"Y-yes, I'll never see him again if I lose here!"

From out in the audience, a guy in a crowd would stand up and cup his hands around his mouth. "Heyyyy, why are you talking like that!?" crowd guy called out in the distance.
But N could not hear crowd guy, nor did he have the time to listen. Henrietta determination was coming up, as was her kick. And he could not dodge either as he was forced to bring up both arms to block the attack.
With one am not on the ground any longer, N''s balance was off. The kick knocked N to the ground, but before a countdown could begin he had rolled back up to his feet a short distance away from the cloaked kendo girl. His eyes never left Henrietta's gaze as he reached up and grabbed his hat from the air without looking like a total badass. The green haired boy adjusted it back onto his head.
Her power was nothing special, but her precision was mostly on point. Had he not blocked the attack, he could have taken serious damage. Perhaps I needed a bit more training from Gorm. It seem that this equation was not as easy to solve as I thought.
"Then your resolve is indeed noble. Someday, you might be a legendary hero." He ran up to her once more and took to the air. This time, he spun with a leg outstretched as soon as he got within range. It covered a wide horizontal area in order to try and catch Henrietta sidestepping out of the way. Through the spin kick aimed at the girl's waist, N grit his teeth.
"DRILL-BUR-AKE!"

There was no dodging this. Forward and sideways momentum covered. Too low to the ground for Henrietta to duck under it, too high for her to jump. It was perfect.
Still, she could try to trade blows. She grit her teeth as she spun to face the oncoming kick. There was one way to do this, one perfect way. Both hands thrust out toward the inner thigh as the leg came. The end result was that both opponents, unless N magically pulled back from his attack and dodged, would be forced to take blows.
N's would be to the thigh, the result would be first and foremost, a bruise. One that would make each step painful, secondly a blow that close to the crotch, while not counting as a cheap shot, hurt pretty closely to a blow to the nuts.
Henrietta would then be forced back, his thrust like a rudimentary block that only served to fully strike and then she'd be pushed back, her arms bending after fully extending and she'd be thrown across the arena.
She'd land, roll and then climb to her feet, gritting her teeth against the pain.
"I-i don't care about heroes, I just want to save my friend!"

N had no way to dodge the incoming strikes, but he could try to deter them. He still had his hands to use, and so he thrust them downwards. One came down to push Henrietta's hands away from his crotch (although for a second, she may have accidentally grazed it thanks to the push. Frankly, N didn't really care.) The other couldn't reach Henrietta's attack in time, and so N still took a bruise to the thigh. However, because one hand had been slapped, the damage had been halved.
He landed in a spin, and felt a dull pain manifest in his inner thigh. But for now, it could be worked through. The green haired trainer wasted no time, running at Henrietta and stopping right before the girl. From near his waist, he shot a fist out at her gut. He still thought that a blow to the stomach could possibly help him out, and so he would launch a maximum power corkscrew for her center.
He had no quip for her this time. However, as always, he felt the need to call out his attack. You know, in them name of his friends.

Every moment was spent learning. That's how these things worked, you had to adapt. In mixed martial arts you couldn't rely on just your style, a straight striker had to adapt to a grappler, for example, or they would lose every time.
In Henrietta's case, she had to figure out how to land blows over N's speed and strength. Her hands ached where she'd managed to mitigation the force of his kick but it didn't stop her and it didn't take the power from her blows. After all, she'd felt less for less. Now she was saving a friend. She'd take the pain of the world if she had to.
So, Henrietta stepped in quick fashion to dodge the straight strike, coming around behind N instead of to his side. All in one clean motion and instantly her hand shot out, aimed for his back, to strike him between the shoulder blades.
