Tam points to an enormous roast sitting on the table. "Simple foods, I fear... but filling. Roast pork and potatoes. Gravy and fresh bread. But I'll need help keeping the spit turning while I make some bread to go with it. Don't want it getting too well done... we all like our meat fairly rare around here... how about yer kinsmen? Are they much the same?"

*Pyropian laughs*
They like theirs a little more well done...but somewhat rare.

Tam nods. "Then I shall season the meat and let the cooking of it up to you then. As for the rest, Princess... think you can handle peeling the potatoes? Kero uses his claws and I could show you how he does it?"

Tam shows he how to use her sharp little claws to peel a potato. It is a good exercise in fine motor skills as well as she is still not that accomplished in doing the small delicate tasks that her father and uncle are capable of doing. Then once he is certain she has it under control. He quickly whips up a batch of fresh bread, deciding to make rolls, rather than large loaves. Once he has the dough ready to rise, he places it on it's warming shelf and goes to see if Hopian needs any help. Telling him of Pyropian's little diatribe with his father.
"I have him turning the spit right now, but when I walked into the living room, the poor kid was standing in a corner. Honorian is going to have to understand that his little love child isn't so little anymore and fully capable of thinking for himself. A hard lesson for any parent, I'm afraid.... including me. Kero has had to set me right a time or two already." he remarks, plopping into one od the wooden lawn chairs.

*Hopian shakes his head*
It's always difficult to raise a gem-child...we can call on the wisdom stored within our crystals to seem much more mature than we really are. Honorian was probably right to put him there, but Pyro was in the right as well...

Tam sighs. "Tell me, Hope.... when does a d miner lion mature... at what age... and I'm not speaking of warping. Even in his cub form, Pyra seems unusually savvy... even more so than Kero. Is he truly ten or what? Or has he been frozen in that stage for some strange reason?"

*Hopian shakes his head*
Naturally, we are considered adults at about twenty years of age...you could call us mature at about seventeen. But Pyro isn't a lion, though he looks like one. Pyro was...is...a human.

Tam eyes him curiously. "But his human form is an adult, I've seen it. So why does he assume a cub's form when he runs around with the pride? Why not a more mature one.... " he asks in confusion.

*Hopian smiles*
Because he is a child...Love takes many forms, and that is reflected in Pyro's command over his shape. But he is a child, barely ten...more like a very old nine.

Tam shakes his head. "I'm glad I don't have to raise him then. We'd constantly be banging heads. Anyway... ye need any help? The bread rising and the kids are helping in the kitchen, so I've a few minutes to spare."

"She's fine.... I'm teaching her how to peel potatoes.... It will help her learn some much needed patience and fine control. Well, back to work.... But wouldn't it be better to watch yer cubs inside.... Fortuny has them by the fire, ye know..." teases Tam with a grin as he goes back inside.
**ack.... ye take care of yerself.... don't over do it, ye hear!**

What did you think I meant? Apparently the saying doesn't translate well out of Desert Miner...

Tam looks back across his shoulder with a shrug. "You said you were going to stay right there and watch your cubs, only yer outside and the cubs are inside. It sounded kind of funny, iffin ye ask me..."
