Ruby St.Claire Ruby's body jerked slightly her eyes opening. She blinked a few times, before her eyes registered the frightening figure in front of her. She stood up immediatley and backed into a defensive position. "You one of them?" Slate jumped a bit himself, seeing a girl he thought dead jump up and start yelling. "But you were...." He shook his head, deciding it must be a Hero thing. "My name is Slate. I do not know who you refer to when you say them. Are they the ones who destroyed this place?" Slate made a sweeping motion with his bladed arm, motioning to the fallen HQ.

Ruby relaxed, "no, I'm talkin' about Jehova's Witnesses. Where've you been? Hiding in a hole down in nowhere-Nebraska?" She looked him up and down, and shrugged it off, she'd seen worse. "Ruby St. Claire," she gave a half wave as she turned her back on him and started looking through the rubble. She pulled out a half crushed shoebox and started swearing like a whore's spawn raised in swamptown. As she picked it up the contents spilled out all over the ground, most of them already ruined. She scarmbled to save the last of the pictures and odd pieces as they started to blow away in the wind.

Slate raised his arm, the chain extending as the arm launched out, snatching a picture caught by the wind and handing it to Ruby. "Ms. St.Claire, what has happened here?"

Slate Farren Slate raised his arm, the chain extending as the arm launched out, snatching a picture caught by the wind and handing it to Ruby. "Ms. St.Claire, what has happened here?" Ruby took the picture and stuffed it with the others into a red silk bag, she had quickly formed. She looked to Slate, and then down at the rubble, and then back to Slate, "I think the buildin' fell down, hon."

"I had figured such." Slate commented, glancing around. "Are not you the least bit curious as to how it happened?"

Ruby picked up the last of the salvagable pieces, and put it in her bag. She glanced back at Slate, "Nah, too many ways to knock over a building, and it don't matter what way they did it, if it's knocked down all the same." She picked up her things and started walking down the street, glancing up at the sky every now and then.

Slate turned, lumbering after her, his hand knocking against the debris about his feet. "Well, I'm not sure if I'm able, but I had wished to join the heros. After this, will there still be an organized association of them?"

"Darlin' there hasn't been an organized association of heroes in a while. They've all gone, one by one. I may just be the only one left, and I wasn't even a real hero in the first place, most thought me a cheer leader more'n anythin."
She stopped and glanced back at the rubble, "that place fell a long time ago, just didn't notice it till now I guess."
She closed her eyes, her mind going back to all the heros that had left, Chris, Drako, Lumina, the first Seth, Ryu, Marin, Reaper, Bobby, and she had just seen Seth flying away with the thing that had done this to them. He had betrayed them. No, there was no longer a them.He had betrayed her. It was hard not to feel bitter. She was scared, she was alone, and she couldn't fight the feeling that somehow it was her fault.
Ruby paused and pulled out the long silver knife that she kept strapped to her thigh. The runic design on the blade shimmered slightly as she brought it up to her neck. She twisted her wrist to the back of her head, grabbed the blood red pony tail resting on her nape, and sliced through it, the blade sharp enough to sheer right through the thick curls. She slowly let her arms down. The curls fell to the ground all around her a handful blowing away out of her grasp. She spoke to herself, whether Slate was hearing it or not. "Gran always said, it's easier, when you lose something, to turn around and throw away everything. When it don't heal, you gotta cut off the whole arm."
Ruby stuck the knife back into the sheath. She bent down and picked up the red bag, the bag that held everything left. She twirled twice, using her whole body as she threw it. It flew back over the ruins, and Ruby turned around before she saw it land.
The moonlight shined like an aura about her sillhouette, as she started walking again, her curls only reaching to her chin. She called back to Slate without turning around or slowing her pace."If you're wantin' you can follow me, I won't mind none, though I dunno where I'm goin' in particular."
Her voice quieted, becoming firmer. "But Farren, if'n you do decide to come along with me, you gotta abide by one rule." She turned to glance at him, her grey eyes the color of bone. "Don't you ever try and save me."

When she called back to him, he nodded solemnly, slowly walking after her, his wooden leg stomping loudly on the rubble. "I shall do my best to follow the rule, then, Ms. St.Clair." Slate nodded, easily catching up to her with his long stride. "I can understand enough, such as to not ask you about what all you spoke of, but do you know what physically happened to the place?"

((You aren't one who should be complaining about long-a** posts...))
"Yes, it physically fell down. Told you that already, didn't I?" She made a soft smirk as she walked, and skipped over some of the debris in the street. Her feet were bare and padded along the ground lightly, keeping a graceful rythmn.

Slate sighed, realising he wasn't going to get anywhere. He continued walking next to her, folliwng as they entered parts of the city. Any citizens that were still around came out to see what was causing the noise, only to run back in when confronted with the monstrosity lumbering about.
" I would have hoped the people of Haven to be more accepting of the supernatural." Slate said, glancing about at the people peering from their windows, his clear voice contrasting his appearence.

Ruby glanced up, startled out of her daze. "Well they are people after all, aren't they?"
"B'sides, after what's just happened to them, they'll be afraid of anythin unfamiliar, even if it be no larger than a babe." Ruby's eyes followed the path of the street, most all of the buildings had no windows or doors left, and the gaping holes were barred by scraps of wood and cloth. That was for the buildings that were still standing, far too many were nothing but rubble. There were a few fires built in oil drums, with people gathered around them to get warm. An odd smell came from the smoke, as they were burning anything that wouldn't put the fires out.
"I'd head to the beach, but I think a lot of the bodies are still there. Maybe if I find a nice tree or somethin" She glanced back at Slate, and realized it would need to be a pretty large tree, "or maybe not."
