"Emi? I didn't think I'd see you here."
Salieri approached the korean trainer. She stood in front of Eunmi with one hand on her hip and the other running through her hair. "Looks like there's going to be a lot of people here today. All this excitement is getting me pumped! I can't wait to Brick Break the competition!"
She pumped one fist into an open palm, as typical of when she got excited for a fight. Any fatigue she had from the mishap of a stew has now gone, replaced with a renewed feeling of energy that came from being passionate. In other words, Salieri was all fired up.
"So are you here to watch? Or fight?"

After sharing a nice breakfast with the Master's family, Robert headed back down the stairs and into the waiting area for the tournament, which was the work-out gym portion of the building. The arena was already filling up with spectators, and TV crew members were setting up their cameras so they could cover each of the 8 wrestling rings that were set up on what looked like an indoor track and Pokemon battle field. Hanging from the center of the arena was a large four screened display board which faces each screen in a different direction, so that the entire audience could see what was being shown. For safety purposes, none of the rings were anywhere close to this large thing, in the unexpected case that something would cause it to fall. With the reported rash of attacks, John wasn't one to take chances with peoples' lives.
Once all of the fighters were in the waiting area and everything was set to go, John would make his appearance into one of the rings. Those in the waiting area would be able to see him on the flat screen TV that was placed in the room for this event. Some familiar faces were entering, along with some unfamiliar faces. And one very insane-looking guy dressed up like a clown. Robert wasn't quite sure if he'd be able to take the guy seriously. However, Robert knew better than to just by appearances. Everyone had potential. Or as his instructor, gym leader Maylene often would say, It's just like fighting a Magikarp. You never know when it's going to evolve into a Gyarados and rip you apart.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I thank you very much for this warm welcome to your city. This tournament is in honor of a dream finally being realized. This dojo will help to train people in mind and body to better themselves, to protect themselves in times of danger, and to form stronger bonds with their Pokemon by sharing int he rigors of training. The prize for this tournament is a Pokemon Egg, born to my Pokemon family. Only the strongest resolve and most dedicated heart shall overcome all others and prove themselves worthy of this prize. And now, here are the match-ups for the first rounds of battle!" John called out as he gestured to the screen above and behind him. A screen came up with all of the pictures and identities of the fighters appearing on the screen. "Now then, there will be a ten minute break as the fighters come to the ring and the referees are ready to go." John finished up with his announcement.
Robert looked up at the scene. So, he was here. He recognized N, TK, Salieri, Lilly and Eunmi. Then there was also the fat kid that was complaining about his body parts having heart attacks after running out of that cave-in. Robert shuddered to think what reason that kid wanted the egg for.
Still, this was an opportunity for him. If he could fight this Grom and win, he could figure out a way to get the stolen Pokemon back, as well as make Team Plasma put their so-called liberation beliefs to the test. Looking up at the board, Robert saw that his first opponent was the drunken girl he met the night before. While that didn't leave a great impression with him, she seemed to have a strong build. He couldn't let last night's encounter cloud his judgement of his opponent.
John moved to seat himself down by where the commentators were seated, followed by his son, his wife, his Pokemon, Garnet, Beatrix and Freya. "Sorry I'm late hun. I had to help out with something important." John's wife spoke with a smile.
((If you haven't moved your character into the rest area, just make your post so as though you entered before the announcement.))
**************************************** And for those who missed this last four or so pages ago, here are the In Character and Out of Character rules for the tournament;
Prizes: 1st Place: A Fighting-Type Pokemon Egg + 1000 Poke 2nd Place: A Black Belt Item for Pokemon use + 500 Poke 3rd Place: A Luxury Ball + 200 Poke
IC rules:
1.> Cheap shots (groin shots, eye rakes, hitting a downed opponent during the 10-count, preventing an opponent from re-entering the ring or hitting them before the ref starts/restarts the match or when not in a match (Outside of the ring, waiting area, etc.)) are grounds for disqualification.
2.> If a person is knocked down, but not held down, the ref will count to ten. If the fighter cannot get fully back onto their feet by the end of that count, that person loses the match.
3.> A person may tap out or surrender a match.
4.> People cannot have their Pokemon, other people or devices aid them during the match. These are grounds for disqualification
5.> Bullying or threatening another fighter in or out of the ring in order to make them lose or forfeit their match will be disqualified.
6.> No weapons are allowed. This is a test of your physical skill.
OOC rules:
1.> Be reasonable with your characters. People who've never fought before aren't going to be able to pull off double ax kicks or more advanced techniques. Also be reasonable with how much punishment your character can take. Someone who's out of shape isn't going to have the same level of endurance someone who is in shape has.
2.> No Godmodding. Also, be descriptive in your attacks. If all you do is throw straight punches and don't add in any description or variety to your attacks, don't expect to land a hit. Also, no attempting to chain multiple hits (>2 strike attempts) in a row. This isn't Marvel vs. Capcom. The most you can attempt to chain is 2.
3.> Although it's already been discussed before, no aura use (not that anyone outside of Grom should have access to aura at this point anyways).
4.> A good, solid 3-6 hits should be enough to take someone down, depending on solid or glancing blows, level of strength and the endurance of the opponent.
5.> All bouts in the First, Quarter and Semi Finals will happen at the same time in separate rings. There will be a break between the First Bouts, Quarter Finals, Semi-Finals and the Final Bout to give fighters time to recoup and interact in the waiting room.
6.> You get only one free get-up during a ten-count (unless you've resigned to lose the match). If your character is knocked down a second time, they will not make the 10-count.

After his training session with Ookami, Tk went to reenter the Dojo. "Takeru....Takeru!!" came the sound a small brown haired girl Barley over the Age of two. Tk Spun around at the sound of his little sisters voice, "Hikari!" came Takamaru's Ecstatic reply at the sight of his younger sister. the Silver haired youth embraced the Even younger Brown haired youth. "Iv missed you so much" he said as he hugged her tighter, "Magu" came her single worded reply, being to young to string together full sentence or most of the time actual words, but Tk was able to understand her in a heart beat. She meant something along the lines of "Ive missed you too brother!"
"I told you to call me Takamaru!" said the older brother realizing that his younger sister called him by his birht name, "TK?" came her reply, "or that, it works as well" he replied confirming her request. "Kari!" she insisted, meaning that she would liked to be called Kari instead of her birth name 'Hikari.' "fine fine, you win. but how did you get here?" asked Takamaru. at that Kari broke away from her older brother and waldeld over to a tall, brown haired woman with bright cobalt eyes that matched his own. "Mama!" exclaimed Takamaru as yet another one of his family Member made there presence known, "what are you doing here!?" asked the excited young man as he embraced his mother whom embraced him back. "Ive come to Take you back home to olivine" came his mother soft loving voice...
"w...what!? why!" demanded Takamaru breaking away from his mothers embrace. "Because of what happened at the dream yard" came her reply. "when you came to this region to travel with Pokemon i was wary of it, but this...you could have died! Takamaru, please." came her pleading request. "Ho...how do you know what happened there?" asked Tk, his tone low. his mother remained silent. "Mama, i cant, there are still things for me to do here...." replied Tk. "Like what? get your self killed in something that has nothing to do with you!?" asked his mother on the verge of tears. "No, team plasma took somethi.... no, someone dear to me. im not leaving until i get him back, im sorry" at that the announcer came over the speaker telling all participants to meet in the waiting room. "I gotta go-" "where too!" cut in his mother. "im signed up for a tournament" replied Takamaru.
".....Fine, after the tournament were going home" stated Tk's mother not knowing that the tournament Tk was entered in was a human to human battle. Tk remained silent, if he couldn't convince his mother to let him stay, he would show her that he was strong enough to handle himself.
After there conversation Tk pointed his mother in the direction to the stands, to which Ookami accompanied them, his mother also taking his belonging along with her to hold for him. "bye bye" waved Kari as her mother led her to the stands, "Good luck, Tk" said his mother and then entered the building.
Afterwards, once Tk entered the waiting area, he took a seat among the other participants, 'This isnt just to make me a better trainer anymore, i have to prove to mama that i have what it takes to survive here, on my own with no one except me and my Pokemon'

The speech occurred, heralding the beginning of the tournament. There were ten minutes to get to the arena and Henrietta went over a quick stretch session on her way. Arms, back, legs when she took a moment to stop. Soon, she'd be in the arena, standing at one corner of it, waiting for her opponent.
Dressed up like, well, a Duskull one could say. The costume was bound to bring her attention, but she tried not to pay it any mind.
***
Gorm had entered the arena some time ago after stretching. He'd taught N what he could, but still felt the boy should drop out of the tournament and let him handle things. When he glanced up at the board he sighed. Looks like one of them would have to forfeit in the second round.
"Very well," Gorm said and he approached the ring, stepping over, if there were any, ropes around the edges due to his awesome weight. Then he'd stand there, intimidatingly tall and powerful looking.
***
"He did what!?" shouted Chuck over the xtransceiver.
[Shut up, foo', I'm tryin' to bust some rhymes!]
"Not now, K-Rok. Bill entered a martial arts tournament?"
"Yup," Leonarda said. She was sitting in the audience stand looking particularly bored.
"And you're there watching? You're gonna get flocked with fans."
"No, I grabbed a disguise," she said. If one looked she was also dressed up like a Duskull. "Oh hey, there's a girl dressed up like me," she said, though she didn't sound particularly interested.
"Just... Dammit, I'll be there soon. K-Rok, let's go!"
[Dammit.]
***
Bill, who had arrived almost late, now entered the arena and waited for his opponent.

Robert left for the ring he was assigned to. As acrobatic as he was, he simply got into the ring as any normal person would. His mind was calm and focused. For now, he'd put Grom out of his mind. Grom wasn't the one he was about to fight. He'd wait for the black-haired martial arts girl to show up and stand on his side of the ring, taking in slow and controlled deep breaths to better oxygenate his blood. It was something divers did, but it also worked in the martial arts to prevent cramping.

And Robby Tobb walked up, slowly, to the arena, climbing into it with his focus on where is opponent might be. An empty chip bag flew from him, in that moment, carried on an impossible to exist breeze, and the arena cried out, groaning as the obese lad took his place on it. There, he would wait for things to begin.

Also, are you gonna be playing Lilly, Robert?))

(Yes, I suppose I will. I would prefer to start as soon as everyone's here, but if you want, we can go ahead as soon as you get your opponent.)
Lilly came down dressed in the gi of her father's dojo. She was certainly no newcomer to fighting, whether it was in the ring or out in the streets. For someone as young as she was, she had to defend herself plenty of times against thugs and perverts during her own Pokemon journey. She had a nice lean muscled-build to her. She entered the ring by first hopping onto the ledge of the ring, then flipping herself over the ropes with a forwards summersault. For her, this fight wasn't so much about the egg, but about showing her father how much she had progressed. Showing him, and the world. She pulled off some stretches before she stood at the ready, her eyes looking at her opponent as if sizing him up.

((But can we begin our matches?))
Bill looked at the girl and sighed. "Why the ******** did they let women into this? You're all just going to lose instantly."
Bill was by no means a small guy. Standing six foot three, he was built like a soldier, a well trained marine or SEAL equivalent. By no means as big as he was back when he was in the army, he could still bench and caught three-fifty one hundred times a day on top of the rest of his work out, consisting of finger tip push ups, one handed push ups(with clap), crunches, curls, etc.
Needless to say, standing before a young girl now, just looking at him was enough to intimidate. His posture was perfect, back straight, shoulders squared. For a stance he merely brought his hands from behind his back. Expression shifting to one of an annoyed man.
"Alright," he said, ready to start any time.
"Let's try not to hurt her face, don't want to piss her husband off."

(Yes you can)
Lilly knew the man's type. She had met many other guys like him during her father's travels around the world. They all thought they were all Alpha Males, that females served no other purpose than to serve them. And yet those that tried to force themselves on her, she made each and every one of them beg for mercy. To her, this guy was no different. Instead of retorting him, she just made a slight gesture with her fingers, one that pretty much conveyed 'bring it on and prove it'. Once both sides were ready and the ref went over the rules, the bell would sound, signalling the beginning of the match.

Bill sighed. Seemed like she wasn't the offensive type. Bill would then casually strode in her direction. He decided against not hitting the face, this b***h needed to be taught a lesson.
He'd c**k his arm up, open handed, hand level with his shoulder and, if Lilly did nothing, he'd bring it down in back hand fashion as soon as he got close, aimed to pimp smack her to the floor, should the blow land.

Lilly stayed still as the man approached. She had a good idea from the positioning of his arm and the way the hand was wide open what the man was intending to do. He obviously wasn't taking her seriously. It was time to change that.
As he swung at her, she sharply brought her upper arm closest to the assault up to block it, letting it strike her arm and stopping his attack. While it stung, it wasn't a pain she had not been used to. And as she did so, one foot slipped around behind the man's closest leg. With a sharp, fast movement, she threw a strong uppercut right at the man's Adam Apple and jaw with her other fist. Unless he was quick, he'd feel just how strong she was, and might even end up on his back.

Except that Lily exploded into the ground with the force of the pimp smack. For you see, something coming at an angle which was not down meant that you had to repositioning your footing in order to put a full block into it. Implying that you could simply block something by throwing an arm up to it was the same as saying you could block a semitruck by putting your arms up.
Blocking, in general, is something effective only when you can fully cushion the impact. Even blocking punches in a normal fight left bruises on the forearms if your opponent could produce any amount of force. It was not an end all method to stopping attacks, and was not favorable over any form of mitigation, such as parrying or blocking. To put it more simply, blocking relied on first, muscle to cushion the blow, and second, the distance between the blocking limb and the body to be smaller so that more muscle, when the arm was inevitably forced into the body, could continue to cushion the blow.
Furthermore, given the angle, Lily's footing placed the hand coming down at her head so that it was diagonal, which mean she lacked the foot placement to keep her balance when struck. It is essentially the same as being shoved with both feet side by side, vs. being shoved with one foot back to brace and push against the oncoming force.
The end result is that the raised arm would meet the arm first but the force of 175 lbs. worth of force on top of momentum and gravity over the difference that was proportionate to height, would throw Lily into the floor, her arm likely slamming into the side of her head in place of Bill's hand and she'd topple.
((edit: halved amount of force after reworking my math))

Salieri rose an eyebrow when she saw the matchups. While there were some interesting characters in the tournament, the only matchup she really cared about was her own. It was the blue haired fighter from the Dreamyard. Huh. This could be a good warmup.
"Guess that answers my question," she told Eunmi before the other girl could respond. Salieri began to walk up to the ring where Robert was waiting for her. "Alright, I'll be going to the finals now. Maybe I'll see you there, Emi!"
So Sal ventured to the ring, where Robert stood there breathing. With a grin, she took one jump forward and went in between the ropes legs first. Her feet deftly touched the ground, almost as silent as a pin drop as she casually transitioned from the vault to a walking position like it was a natural movement for her.
Salieri had no extra training to do that morning. She had no breathing techniques to use before the match. No special stretches either. And she didn't have an epic breeze running past a bag of potato chips either. She simply did what she had done for the last thirteen years, which was to live, breathe, and be a Battle Girl. It had worked so far, after all.
"Robert, right?" she asked as she rose up a hand. Her fingers slowly curled into a claw like position, and then they audibly cracked. She loosened that hand, and then did the same with the other.
"I know they usually say ladies first, but I'm feeling generous today." Sal slid one of her legs back to put them both into a wide stance. Her foremost heel was slightly raised, and her back one was raised all the way. Her hands slowly moved into place, with one arm raised up over her chest and another one lower to her stomach.
The stance was fluid, as Salieri bounced up and down on her heels in excitement. "So I'm giving you a lucky break. The first move is yours."
****
N strode up to the ring using the stairs on the side, walking to his place opposite of Henrietta. He peered at her outfit for a moment, and then shook his head.
"You are no Duskull, Tess Avalite. Relinquish that outfit that puts a proud species to shame!" he commanded as he cast one hand out to the side and pushed his bangs out of his eyes with another. That same epic breeze that had blown a bag of potato chips before now brushed through N's long locks of hair.
In the audience, multiple swoons sounded out, both female and male. And then multiple thuds as said people fainted.
