Raquels smile was drenched in relief as she leaned up and kissed his lips gingerly. She had a loving touch that seemed so careful, as if the moment were just so fragile.

After the short yet deep kiss, she pulled back, glancing to the door. "I uh-....I had bought something for the occasion... a long time ago..." She blushed, nodding to what Trinity was determine to pull down off the handle to no avail.

An elegant yet oh so sexy lingerie dangled boringly, only the frustrated 'oomphs' of trinity falling all over the place to reach them filled the room.

She wasn't so sure ifthat was even on his mind now, or if they should...
She just wanted him to be happy, despite her leaving...though as of late, her leaving might meet that end/

Damian's initial thought was how sad it was that Trinity couldn't manage to get the lingerie off the door handle, not how Raquel wasn't wearing it. That was a different mode of thought, he realized. He'd gone from sexual deviant to cat sympathizer in record time.

"I'd hate to see it collect dust," he said in a low voice. "Or get torn up by the cat. Either way, it is your call..."

Raquel paused a moment, smiling downward before nuzzling into him, kissing his neck sensuously, letting her hands wander around and under his shirt.

"...Meet me in your bedroom in two minutes...." She purred into his ear before taking a nibble. She pushed him away gently, sauntering over to the door where she pulled the skimpy articles of clothing away from Trinity's grasps, sending the three legged feline sulking away in utter depression.

By the looks of it, she was holding either dark green or black lacy underwear, that hardly seemed there at all. the same for the top, which could hardly classify as a bra. "I've got to change..." She purred, giving him one of her most seductive looks. "We should at least have a proper send off hm?" She smirked slightly, biting her lip as she headed to the bathroom to change.

Some time later, Raquel found herself wide awake, staring at the ceiling blankly, furrowing her brow slightly as she listened to Damians even breaths. She had hoped by now they could have put everything behind them... that miraculously, things could be fixed by a romp around the bedroom and him missing her terribly when she left the next day.

But she had a terrible feeling it wouldn't...
What had just happened explained it really.
She didn't feel as connected nor as intimate as she had in the past. It felt as if things were strained, even in their most intimate moments...

It scared her... a lot...

but maybe... just maybe their time away would repair what was broken... it just had to...

And so the morning came, and both rose to meet the day they wished they could have held off for just a bit longer.
Or did they?

Damian felt it, too. The previous night was more of a finale to the week rather than something meaningful as it always had been. They had lacked something, some kind of click or fire. Damian thought maybe they were both just tired emotionally, maybe even needing a break from one another. They had, after all, been living together much sooner than most couples did, regardless of their circumstances.

Raquel's bags were packed into the cab that had come for them, and both looked like they were ready to leave the house. Damian seemed chipper enough, and met Raquel out in the living room before taking one last look around to make sure they had everything.
"Alright," he said. "Ready to go off to college?"

Raquel came out cradling Trinity in her arms, kissing her nose before looking up at him. "Ah...I..I suppose...." She frowned, looking down again, letting Trinity down before coming over to him.

"Damian..." She took his hand in hers, leaning up to kiss him sweetly, but stopped right before his lips. "I...I think I'm going to go on my own...I dont think I can bare the prolonged goodbyes...lets just...leave it here...." She whispered softly, gazing up into his eyes, her own troubled.

A part of him was relieved. He didn't have to travel all that way to settle her in, then turn around for home once more. Raquel was an adult who could take care of herself, after all...
But it still stung that she didn't want him to come along.

"Alright," he said a little too positively. It sounded forced, like he was trying his best to make every second as smooth as possible. "Alright, then... I'll see you later, Raquel. Be brilliant, don't talk to any odd, lonely men... stay safe at parties, read..."
But all the word dropped off as soon as he realized how fake it sounded. There was nothing to say, really other than good bye and one little phrase.
"I love you."

Raquel noticed the strange tone, making her heart hurt ab it. She took his hand making him open in so she could place something inside it gently. Furrowing her brow, she couldn't look him in the eye. She merely leaned up, kissing his lips softly. "You know I love you...but maybe we are moving too fast..." She spoke softly, her hand feeling utterly naked without the brilliant ring adorning it anymore.

"I-....I'll call you and let you know when I'm settled...." She muttered under her breath, picking up her guitar case and purse which were the only things left for her to take before heading to the door.

She was afraid he'd be either angry, shocked, upset, or a mix of the three. She hated to end on a bad note...but it needed to be done.
What was the point of pretending they were ready for marriage when they both had some major issues to work out? It didn't make sense...

Things didn't come into full focus until she felt the circular object pressed into his palm. Damian was so still and silent as she pulled away, and remained as such when she gathered her things, though he could have sworn his heart was ready to beat right out of his chest.

Damian finally looked up at Raquel just before she left the house, and summoned enough of his voice to say, "Good luck."
There was no apology, no more professing of love. Everything had already been said by the gesture of her giving back the promise that they would be married.

Raquel found herself crying softly and silently as she made her way into the cab, just as it started sprinkling from the gray, smoggy skies. She silently prayed this time apart would indeed heal their relationship.

-------------

And that it did.
At first things were granted awkward, and their visits seemed more or less spread out and not looked forward to. But eventually, things were addressed and the two found themselves growing ever closer despite the distance between them.

And it seemed for awhile, that things were perfect. Raquel was busy with school, which was ever difficult at first, but she soon found her nitch in it and buried herself in the experience. She felt independent again, making her own decisions for the most part, and getting back her spunk and fire.

She loved the challenge they gave her in her musical abilities and taught her how to widen not only her range, but her horizons as well. She began dabbling in other classes that involved not only music, but physical art like sketching and painting.

Yet it seemed Raquel's inspiration helped her in her normal classes required for education as well; reading, writing, articulate were all easy for her finally, most likely because she felt she was in a safe environment and felt she could actually make something of herself there.

It wasn't just the campus and school life that seemed perfect though.
Along with her relationship with Damian, things all over just seemed so... content. Nat and Teagan were doing just fine, what with Nat living on Damian's property and taking care of things, as well as contributing to Teagans business.

And Raquel had heard that Richard and Lorey were working on trying to have kids. She was happy for them, though the slight uneasiness of not being able to have any of her own was still lying somewhere in the back of her mind, poking at her occasionally.
Yet she couldn’t find reason to complain. She was about to graduate, finally feeling how good it felt to have completed something successfully and reap the benefits of it.

Damian was of course there for her all the way, even as he brought her home to 'celebrate' after the ceremony and a lovely dinner.

It had been about a month or so since then, and things were settling back to normal.
The only things that weren't quiet settled was what the next step for their relationship was, since it was still unclear if they should think about marriage now that Raquel was out of school.
Not only that, but Raquel had one last loose end of her own to tie up as well before she could feel really secure...

During her time away, she had been approached by the Amaranthine again. Only this time it was only Amethyst and she made a proposition with Raquel. She begged her to consider such a wondrous offer and left without another word.
Raquel hadn't mentioned it to Damian, not wanting him to worry any, but simply knew she would just have to decline.
She was tired of always fearing those of her species in her every day life, and she didn't care any more if they could 'help' her. She was just starting to figure out how to control her headaches and emotions on her own, if not very well, and felt she didn't need them.

So in her mind, she felt it time to cut that part of her life out and away, so she and Damian could live happily ever after.

Though she left that placid afternoon to confront these people for the last time, with nothing but a simple kiss on Damian's cheek, and a promise she wouldn't be long... though neither of them knew she wouldn't return home.

Indeed, with those two years stretching out in front of him, Damian had never imagined how much of a transformation their relationship could go through. When he was able to finally look behind him and examine all they had accomplished, Damian certainly had to smile.

At first, things were quite difficult for him to manage. It seemed no matter what he did, things were always awkward and forced. Though they stayed together as a couple, it looked like the distance they had put between each other was the best remedy. That, and one fantastic fight that left both of them mulling over their thoughts for quite some time.

During his time spent at home, Damian made such a huge market comeback that he was able to make up for all the credits he had spent on his friends and Raquel. though he still kept his home and everything in it, Trinity found herself luxuriating in a kitty tower and play area just for her. She became his baby to dote upon while Raquel was away.

Damian and Raquel did work things through, though. Mostly it was Damian learning when not to pull his money card to make the troubles go away and Raquel learning to be more of a spitfire, but two years went by, and they both went through with their good change. Like Raquel, Damian found everything to be perfect, especially when Raquel had finally come home...

Yet it seemed no sooner had she come home to stay that one day, she did not come home at all. Damian tried calling her phone, but there came no answer. No matter how many voicemails he left, nothing happened until he called the police. Hours of searching turned into days of searching, which turned into weeks. Try as he might to keep his sanity, Damian found himself grasping at every option he could, even getting Richard to spread around posters along his delivery routes when he had to go off-planet. His darling was missing, and in his heart, Damian knew the culprits.

Try as he might to voice this suspicions of the Amaranthines to the police, it seemed no one would take him seriously. Raquel's file held no record of her being half-blooded, and so they took it as some desperate farce on the rich man's behalf to get results, or merely to have someone to blame. The couple was untraceable besides, and so that brought no results.

Damian turned to private investigators. Regardless of their underground and underhanded pursuits, they, too, could not find an answer to Raquel's disappearance.
It was heart-rending, maddening, and Damian would not face the all-too-possible answer that Raquel was not to be found alive.

No, he thought to himself in his clouded mind. That could never be the answer.

Yet it was time for the haze to be lifted by a single man. A single officer to be specific.

He was dressed in uniform, his hat in his hand and a solemn look on his face as he came knocking on Damian's door.

"Mr. Centurion...?" He asked when Damian came to the door. "I've come bearing some news about a Miss Raquel Calipso?" He swallowed a bit. "We've...found her..." He said seriosuly but still that solemn look in his eye.
"Well...her body anyhow...I'm very sorry Mr. Centurion..." He bowed his head a little.

People talk about being hit with bad news, but it did no such violent thing. The reality of it all gently washed over him, veiled him, numbed him. Her body? he repeated in his mind. A body, nothing more. No life. Nothing to make it a person other than form. Found her body, he repeated once again, until he realized he was staring somewhere on the man's hat in silence.

Damian invited him inside where they spoke of the details. Where, he wanted to know. What was the cause of death? But each and every question was spoken in one-syllable words from pale lips that barely felt like moving. Damian was quite sure this could not be happening, and yet the policeman would not spontaneously disappear in some waking moment.

Nothing would.

The man told her that her body was found in an alleyway dumpster, apparantly being there for some time. Through an autopsy, they concluded she was the victim of arandom hit and run, and were currently looking into who was the culprit, though by now it was impossible to trace.

"I am sorry Mr. Centurion. We have officially identified the body as hers, and wanted to know what you wanted to do with the remains. I know its difficult to think about now, and you are more than welcome to have time to think about it. We'd usually allow family or loved ones come in to see the body, but with the ammount of damage and considerable decay from the dumpster, I'm not sure if that'd be wise." He cautioned, trying to keep his tone empathetic yet very official.
