As the noises started, Blade froze in place. Then, after shuddering rather visibly, he swiftly made his way around Durzo as well to get out of the bath area. He did not have to hear that. The image of the elders at it was bad enough, and now it was renewed rather vividly.

"Thank you Durzo," he uttered, "You came just in time."

Well.. it would have been nice if he had fetched them maybe a minute earlier. But he had to try and mind his manners and the like. Besides, perhaps a hearty meal will help him wash his mind of all the dreaded images that invaded it now. He just had to wonder what dragon cuisine is like aside from probably having quite a bit of meat.

"Please. Lead the way."

Poke decided not to say anything about riyo's interesting choice of clothes either. Either she said it didn't suit her and get in trouble, or she lied and say it did look good, and get into trouble.

Then...the noises started. It took a second for poke to realize what they were, and she blanched. But while it was disturbing on all levels to even think about the concept, she had to secretly appluad them for being able to do preform such deeds at their age.

She was quick to make her way to the door, previous exaustion forgotten, but stopped as durzo had come in to tell them dinner was ready. "Thank you very much Durzo" she said to him with a smile, but then a look of horror passed over her face as she could still hear the old couple. Grabbing mitsu's arm she was quick to follow neko into the lobby.

Riyo blinked and turned back towards the pool when those strange sounds echoed through her ears. "What're they doing?" She asked out of sheer curiosity. Though she couldn't hear clearly due to the waterfall, the sounds were sort of repulsive...

Atticus knew immediately what those sounds were. Much like Poke had grabbed Mitsu, he took Riyo's hand and nudged her towards the exit. "Who cares? there's food waiting on us." That was the way to say it. Instead of saying "You don't want to know.", a change in subject is usually enough to get her out of there.

On the outside, Atticus was fine as a fiddle. On the inside, the flames of hades were a burnin' and he was right in the middle of it all with imps poking at his mangled brain. This place was hell. Hell incarnate.

"Oh, right." Was Riyo's response, which was the one Atticus wanted. She followed the rest of the group out the door, while Atticus let go of her hand and quietly followed. "That dress looks terrible on you, by the way."

"Yeah, I know." Obviously she took that as a statement instead of an insult, since she had been thinking the exact same thing. Perhaps if she had been all there, his little comment would've started a fight. But she was thinking of other things. Like how to properly apologize to Yuki.

Poke had pulled Mitsu out the door before she had been able to focus in on the noises. They moved passed Durzo into the lobby were the air was much cooler and easier to breath. There they stood to wait until the dragon was ready to lead them.

It appeared as though everyone was ready. Durzo nodded and led them out of the bath house and back into the busy streets of the dragon city. Back toward the palace they went but instead of heading for the large structure protected by the outer wall, Durzo led the group to the middle of the garden. Through a maze of greenery they traveled until they happened upon a tent set up along the cobblestone path. The tent was large and open to reveal the long table set up with a feast. Wonderful smells seemed to waft through the air and despite the culture there were familiar foods along with some not so familiar.

The servants of the house were still bringing dishes out and placing them here and there making a presentation out of the smallest thing. There was enough food it seemed to feed a small army or a ravenous group of seven. Goblets were placed at the table settings and filled with richly scented red wine before a servant took a stand at each chair and pulled them out, smiling, waiting for their guests.

Neko had spent the entire walk trying to forget what he had seen and heard. It was like they had raped his mind. If scrubbing his brain would help he was fairly certain he would crack his skull open and give it a try. In the midst of despair over it all a delightful smell caught his nose. Like a cat on catnip, Neko's eyes widened to almost black taking in the sight of all the glorious food. He hadn't realized until now, but he was ******** starving. "Wow...after everything, I didn't expect this."

"Everything smells so good." Mitsu smiled closing her eyes allowing the smell of food to wash over her. Without too much hesitation she actually moved toward a servant and took a seat. Her chair was pushed in and a napkin placed in her lap.

"Enjoy your meal, Miss." The young man said before he walked off.

Neko wasn't far behind in taking a seat though he fought the matter of them pushing his seat in for him. He barely won in the matter and as they were about to place a napkin in his lap as well he snatched it from the servant quickly. "I can take it from here."

"Uh....very good. Enjoy your meal." The servant gave a bow and left.

The scents and sights of the feast laid out before them was quite a welcoming sight. Blade's stomach rumbled rather audibly as they entered the dining hall. Some of the courses there were foreign to him, but he was certain all of it was delicious.

Aside from the servants, Hakim was present as well. It seemed that the dragon elder would be joining them for this grand meal.

"I hope you all enjoyed your bath," he said sincerely before sitting down at the end of the table, "Please, please. Take a seat and enjoy."

The thief had to restrain himself from pouncing onto the table more or less. He went ahead and sat down and anxiously awaited the others to join. The sight of Hakim reminded him of his previous question. However, his hunger was hitting him rather hard now, making it a bit hard to really think about anything else other than food. While he waited, he stared at the different dishes on the table. Aside from the meats, he saw some vegetables or fruits that seemed rather exotic. He had to wonder if those came from the very gardens they had traveled through.

The silverware presented looked nice as well...

No. I'm not stealing from the dragons, he scolded himself mentally. The thief's fingers twitched slightly still as the urge remained.

"So much better..." poke breathed a sigh of relief, partly because it was much cooler here, and partly due that she wasn't near those old people anymore.

As she followed the group, she was able to see the dragon city for the first time. It was huge! Poke kept looking around at the buildings and, even more, the people who were walking in and out of them. Some appeared to be people with horns and wings, while some appeared more reptilian like. It suddenly occurred to her that these must be what was known as a dragon. She hadn't seen one before, but right now she was very impressed. Some of these dragons were almost as big as the buildings!

Soon, she was able to smell something wonderful, and then she could see the gardens as well as a very large tent. She hadn't thought about food in a long time, but now that she thought about it she couldn't remember the last time she had a proper meal. Her hunger was trippled when she walked into the tent and saw just about every dish she could think of, and even more, laid out on the table. It was amazing what these people were capable of; the smallest detail hadn't been missed.

Poke wasn't to rush forward and start gobbling down food though. She could see the fine silverware and the servants bustling about, so she was going to be on her best behavior. Following blades example she walked up to a chair, allowing the waiter to push it in for her and place a napkin on her lap. As she thanked the waiter for doing so she noticed that at the end of the table was a old man. She could tell though this wasn't a ordinary looking man; he seemed to have the presence of strength and wisdom, regardless of how old he appeared.

"Oh, yes, the bath was very refreshing, thank you" she said to him, wanting to be polite. "And this food looks delicious."

Returning to the frigid terrain, Shun glanced down at the note he had received some time ago. For what reason Suto would want him now he had little clue. But he supposed that was why he was here in the first place.

His wounds had healed up for the most part. They were still a bit tender, but he was at least able to travel and continue his job as needed. The man would just have to be more careful. The bandages around his face were gone, but in its place was an eyepatch over his left eye. Bent-Tail had also cut his hair earlier so he could patch the guy up more easily. Shun wasn't too thrilled about that, but it didn't matter that much. Losing his eye was considerably more of a bother than a haircut; at least he can regrow the hair.

As he reached the lab, the assassin went on to find where he could meet with the mad scientist. The fact that he was being pulled off the trail was also a bit of an annoyance, but perhaps Suto had some insight on the matter.

For once, Suto was in his lab doing nothing. He merely sat back at his desk, a cup of tea in his hand and dear Flopsy in his lap. A gentle hand stroked the rabbit along its bony back, a tufted of fur flying off into the room. "Oh dear, are we shedding again my pet?" Indeed, Flopsy was shedding, but it was more than just his fur. Large pieces of the taxidermy rabbit were falling off, barely held in place by stitching and glue.

Suto seemed to pay it little mind as he took another sip of his tea turning to look at a report that had been printed out earlier. Just as he had brought the porcelain cup to his lips the door to his lab opened. He paused for a moment to see who would be disturbing him and was somewhat pleased to see Shun. "Ah, you have returned." He took a sip of his drink and set it aside. Picking up Flopsy he gently put the rabbit on his desk instructing it not to go anywhere. After that he stood from his seat to approach Shun. "A little worse for ware it appears....but you are here."

Entering the room, Shun stared at Flopsy for a moment... which seemed to be falling apart. He will probably never understand why Suto would keep something like that around. Between that and some of the things he had seen around this wretched place, he just took it that the scientist was a very disturbed man. As he addressed him, the assassin simply nodded before speaking up.

"Yes I'm here. Why have you summoned me?" he asked lowly, getting right to the point. He had little reason to exchange pleasantries with Suto, even if he was his client. Besides, the sooner this was over with, the sooner he could get back on the road to resume tracking his quarry.

"Right to the point," Suto nodded, the cruel smile twisting his lips. "I like that." Walking back to his desk Suto unlocked one of the top most drawers with a key. "A little birdie has told me the whereabouts of the girl that escaped here as well as my pet." Reaching into the drawer Suto pulled out a bag. It appeared to be rather heavy as he set it on the top of the desk closing the drawer now that he was done with it. "They are with a small group within the walls of the dragon city, Irthos Okarthel, that is in the midst of the desert. I need you to fetch what you can as well as Mitsu. Anyone that might seem...promising." He undid the tie at the top of the bag to let the leather fall away to reveal the gold coins the bag contained. "This is but a small portion of the payment I promise. I will pay twice as much for each live person you bring back."

Shun's eye narrowed slightly at the smile Suto had given; a twisted expression that he didn't care much to see. However, the news given was a surprise to him. The dragon city was often deemed a myth to many and almost no one knew of its whereabouts. The assassin, himself didn't have much of a clue of its location aside from it being somewhere in the grand desert.

The idea of aimlessly wandering the barren lands in hopes of finding the city was not one he fancied. He would have to wait for the group to leave, as well as try and anticipate where they would be headed. A very difficult feat to say the least, but not entirely impossible.

Again, he also didn't like so much of having to bring people back alive. Kidnapping was not his area of expertise, but he at least was able to use his skills to some extent... he just needed to make sure he held himself back. The gold pouch Suto presented was rather tempting as well. He did, after all, enjoy being able to eat and whatnot.

"Very well," replied Shun simply as he crossed his arms. The question of why he wanted Mitsu so badly as well as the others nearly rolled off his tongue, but he bit it back. It wasn't his job to ask such questions, and he had somewhat of an idea as to why anyway. He just shoved those thoughts to some back corner of his mind.

"Is there anything else I need to know?" he asked instead.

"Possibly, unless you plan on wandering for days trying to find out where they might go." Suto pulled a map out from under the papers he had on his desk. It was a very old map made of stained hide of an animal that probably no longer existed. Stretching the map out Suto motioned for Shun to join him. Once the lad was close Suto started to point out places on the map. It was easy to tell this map wasn't recent, the larger cities that now surrounded the land weren't there, but there were different places marked out with names written in a language from long ago.

"We are here in the northern area above the desert." He pointed to the area where Galloway should be but instead there was another name in its place. At least the desert looked to be the same. "The group is here," Suto trailed his finger down the leather map to rest on a small area nestled pretty close to the middle of the desert. "They came from a small village in the sand just north of this little oasis." He trailed his finger up. "Its a long journey through the desert to head west back toward their village. The desert fans out and is rather harsh. They could head north and then over but they risk meeting the slave traders in this village, which, they have already met." Suto continued drawing his finger back to the small oasis. "Their safest route would be to head this way." He drew his finger to the east where the land was much closer. "And then up to where the desert isn't as far across and then cross over. Instead of wasting your time tracking them. Meet them there, lay a trap for them."

As the map was laid out, Shun went over to study it with Suto. The language written on it was rather foreign and unlike anything he had seen before. At first he thought it was his dyslexia messing with him, but this wasn't the case as he continued to stare down at it. A curious thought on where the man managed to get such an ancient map, but it mattered little.

The information provided was very valuable and despite Suto's madness, he proved to be quite ingenious. It seemed he was able to keep a rather close tab on the movements of the group, meaning he likely had eyes all around the world more or less. It would seem that this man's resources were virtually limitless.

With all of this in mind, gears began churning in the assassin's mind. Traps were of no issue to him, as he had to lay several before to get targets on the move. With a group as large as this, an ambush would be most ideal. He could only assume that it would take them some time to reach the location Suto had pointed out, which would give him ample time to devise a strategy. It would also give him more time to recover, which was always a good thing.

"Understood. The next time we meet, I'll have Mitsu and a few of her friends with me," he replied while looking over the map a little longer before gruffly adding, "If that is all, I'll be on my way out."
PostPosted: Sat Jul 17, 2010 7:14 pm

Suto stared at the map a moment longer pondering over the possibilities. There were countless ways this could work out. His current available subjects were starting to thin and the animal races were far more valuable to his research that humans. "Yes," Suto said absently before he tossed the map aside and went back to his previous reports. "I believe that will be all. If I think of anything else I will be sure to send a falcon your way with news."

As the absolutely fantastic aroma got stronger and stronger, Riyo found herself more and more in a euphoric daze. She had no idea what that smell was, but she wanted it like nothing she'd wanted before. It was tempting her with it's delicious scent. In fact, she could almost taste it.

So when the feast was finally within eye sight, her mind went totally blank. A small trickle of drool fell from the corner of her mouth while her eyes swelled up to the size of oranges. The sound that came from her mouth at that moment was from no written language, but easily translated into "oh my god".

Though, she didn't jump onto the table like a lemur and rip everything to shreds as one might expect. Instead, she approached in a zombie-like fashion, one foot in front of the other, and had a seat. She just... Stared at it. Anything this good looking must've been some trick of the desert, because food just didn't look that good.

Atticus quietly followed the group. Though he's manner made no changes as they came upon the dinner set before them, his stomach made angry protests. Yes, he was indeed as hungry as the rest of them. But he would sooner die than loose his manners.

taking a seat next to Riyo, he thanked the servants for the chair and the napkin then glanced at everybody else. When his eyes settled upon the cat girl in the seat next to him, he raised an eyebrow. "Riyo?" He called quietly, waving a hand in front of her face. It yielded no response. She just stared at the food with dead eyes. "Huh."
