Deus Ex Machina is not the fact that someone wins a battle or not, but the thing that brings such winning to being.

For example, Tuxedo Kamen for Sailor Moon is a Deus Ex Machina (short is Deus Ex, BTW) Another example? Pot Of Greed in Yugioh is a recurrent Deus Ex. Yet another example? For Naruto himself, Kyuubi is the One And Only Deus Ex.

Sasuke? He was stronger than Orochimaru. Orochimaru himself hinted at that a couple times, and what do ya know, it actually came back to bite his snake-y a** in the end. Sasuke won against Naruto, too, because Naruto has that hero handicap of not hurting his friends.

He won against Itachi? Nope. Itachi lost. On purpose. Because he needed to have the Final Redemption trope played on.

Will he win any more battles from now on? Let's see... He already lost against Tobi (and Tobi didn't kill him because the kid's more useful as a brainwashed tool than as a corpse to hang on his trophy wall,) he could probably beat Kakashi, he would get dragged around Konoha by Tsunade, Pain would kick his a** with the Bad Eye, and Naruto? His name's in the title of the show. He's got the Hero Aura of Deus Ex (Kyuubi's power and sheer, incredible, impossible luck, bah.)

While I'm still a bit pissed that it's been at least fifty episode of Emo Teen Hunting Season, I'm sure things will start to look up now... (And the code? I've got my theories, but I bet it's something that happened off-screen during the Toriyama Syndrome.)

You may look up all those terms around the net, they're all fun to have to make fun of shows (specially the Toriyama Syndrome. A thing I've seen in several shows, actually.)

Same here. Specially after he became the "Emo Brainwashed Avenger." But hey, at least you know he'll do the Yamcha thing in the end and lose the plot-relevant battles. (He doesn't? Ask Zaku, Gaara and Itachi...)

I love Naruto. I know mostly everything about it. My favorite character is Minato Namikaze.
