Tamlin accepted the bag from Ki and pulled out its contents. It was not very impressive, but the bread and water were very welcome. She absent-mindedly nibbled on the bread as she considered Ki's words and read Val's note.

"an old bag to put things in?" she said half to herself, half to Ki, hoping she might know what the significance of the bag was. "well, who does know what Val is thinking, I'll hold on to it and think of a use for it. If nothing more as my thanks for her helping me out"

Tamlin put the coins into her pocket, ate the rest of the bread and drank the water, and then carefully folded the sack up and carried it as she followed Ki out of the jail.

Zak turned to Tam "you c' take it back to your caravan, get ya pipe, get that out and I'll play spoons for you we could earn some money and see this place from the outside and with money"
his face clouded over "unless there is a law against it. unlicensed pipe and spoon playing or something," said Zak as he chewed on a thumbnail thoughtfully.
"Does this kinda law problems happen everywhere you guys go?" Zak asked Ki, being as she was the senior-ist gypsy present "What with the being rootless freedom loving wanderers and everything."

"pipe and spoons!? how does one play spoons? and I don't play the pipe, it's a flute, a very different instrument indeed. either way, your idea has merit, I'd be happy to organize a performance once you show me what this is all about"

Tamlin found herself growing excited at the prospect of performing again, she had just been riding along with this caravan for awhile now. It had been awhile since she had earned her own keep and she loved a good performance.

"This place does have unusual laws, perhaps we should simply return to the caravan and prepare a performance for our next destination?"

"I take two metal spoons hold them so's the back sides face each other and clank them together. I can do three pairs at once but it's always more clanking spoon rhythm than music" said Zak. "could do it with my one spoon and the buckle on this collar if I had the spoon on me"
he started walking back towards what he assumed to be the docks as it was downhill and if it failed they were on an island, I could just go around and come back where I started after all he thought waving his arm like the scoop of a waterwheel at Tam.
this was a good idea, music was fun, Zak wasn't particularly good at melody or singing but he felt he had rhythm and a reasonable amount of spoon competency.

[-gigglefits- spoon competency! -falls out of chair-]

[-collapses on mene in a gigglefit- i'm glad someone else thought this spoon thing was hilarious]

Tamlin laughed aloud at Zak's sketchy description of the art of spoons, it did sound much more like a cacophony of random metal banging, but his enthusiasm was already flowing into her. she couldn't help herself, as Zak waved her to follow she caught onto is arm and linked elbows with him humming to herself one of her mothers favorite drinking songs; something quite suitable for a wild spoon accompaniment.

"alright, you got yourself a duet my friend, shall we head back now?"

She pranced arm and arm with Zak and began humming with more exuberance, conducting herself with her free arm before realizing she had know idea where they were going, "Ki! This way back to the caravan right?" she called over her shoulder barely pausing in her personal symphony

Zak allowed himself to be do-si-doed in a circle before realizing what was up with a blush under his spots and then stopped his feet in an effort to avoid committing some kind of public decency law violating folkdance.

"its not a very big island" the description wasen't very detailed afterall and mostly detailed expensive insurances "so w' go towards the scaffold-crane things with the boxes and the waterside and if'nn that's na' it it'll be near by" said Zak walking along and doing his level best to ignore the blush, it will go away if I ignore it, they're like warts, I bet nobody even notices anyway he thought as the red blazed onto his ears. Zak looked straight ahead into the middle distance as if the horizon held new and as yet unplumbed interest and arm held in a failure at inconspicuousness.

Still linked with Zak's arm Tamlin laughed merrily "aw come now, if ye cannot dance then half the show is gone. Once we get back on the road I can teach you some jigs, ah, that reminds me, Baptiste mentioned he wanted to perform with me. perhaps we can entice more of the caravan to join. I'm sure caroline at least would love to dance with us."

Seeing that Zak was doing his level best to stare off in the distance and not at the road or the direction they should be going in, Tamlin tried to gently steer the small group towards where she thought the caravan had stopped.

Zak allowed himself to be steered, however he was not yet totally prepared to commit an act of public dancing. "not sure that's such a good idea, I mean every body loves watching a dancing girl, a dancing guy, ehh not so much." he remembered the spoon plan "also I will be playing the spoons"

"well of course its enjoyable to watch a girl dance, that's one way to lure your crowd in. but it gets lonely all alone, something has to hold the crowds attention if they are going to stay long enough to leave some money behind. almost nothing is better then variety. Besides, its more fun to have a partner and music and dance go hand in hand." Tam gave Zak a wink and continued "asides from all that, you are staying with gypsies now and there's nothing more then dance and merriment around a fire or in front of a crowd that we like most. you should learn some of the steps while you are with us."

just like that they came upon the caravan parked on a grassy bit next to a beach, new wagons were drawn up and people Zak had not seen before (which was, admittedly, most of the caravan already) were messing about with fitting into the wagon's circle. there was not quite enough space on the greensward for a proper circles the way they were going and with some gypsies AWOL off exploring the island their wagons had to be worked around.

well now I know why they needed me busted out despite only being here for a month or so thought Zak hard hard manly labor and getting my feet stepped on he made a displeased face and muttered "aah what a cluster ******** his breath.
"I think I can see the rust bucket from here" said Zak pointing the beat up brown wagon out to Tam.
"shoot, I forget if I'm allowed 't borrow the good utensils" he shrugged, better to ask forgiveness and not lose the spoon and use the spoon to get some real money so that forgiveness was unnecessary or easily bought.
"where should we meet back up?" Zak asked
