((the last time i checked we were in Kiandra's home not a ship))

When Bane appeared in front of them wielding a knife Kiandra nearly fainted. "I don't think Nova wants you to leave... Especially since you didn't ask permission...." An angry retort bubbled to her lips but to her immense horror Paul pulled out HIS knife. "Paul don't...!" Kiandra's desperate plea was cut off by Bane shadow stepping behind Paul. As his curved blade swept through the air the young woman closed her eyes and stumbled backwards. There was no way this could be happening. However, instead of hearing flesh being ripped it was the sound of metal against metal. Opening her eyes, Kiandra breathed out a sigh of relief at the sight of Justinius blocking Bane's attack.

A woozy feeling came over her as Nova appeared upon the scene and began yelling about sticking together. Kiandra's Anger rose at the other girl and she growled, "Why the volcon would you want to know how to avoid Flighters?Aren't you a Flighter yourself? Anyways this is MY home. Not a ship. See?" She raised an arm and pointed a trembling finger the semi-destroyed room visible through the doorway.

Paul, expecting his own knife to punch into the boy's chest (hopefully non-fatally), was sent flying through the air when his opponent disappeared rather magically and reappeared in a similar manner behind him. He had thrown his weight out too far; his feet left the ground and in a rather surprisingly acrobatic maneuver he rolled himself onto his back before he landed, still presenting the combat knife. Yet the other had tried to save his life, and seemingly succeeded.

But now Paul was angry. The knife went back away, and the Beretta came right back out.

"Alright folks, I've had enough for one day. If you want to talk to me, find me on a day when everyone isn't trying to kill me. Thank you very much. Goodbye." While speaking, he pulled himself up to his feet on the wall, then started backing down the hallway away from everyone else.

"Fine....", Bane said, allowing himself to be pulled backwards slightly, before sliding his knife into his pocket again, his face a facade of calm. He really wanted to keep fighting, but there didn't seem to be a chance of him being allowed to do that now, especially with everything that had happened in the past couple of seconds.

"I'm fairly good at avoiding people... Normally.... Though today has not been my day for that, unfortunately.", Bane said, watching Paul begin to inch away, before continuing,"However... I don't think you running away from here will help you in the slightest, human. It's quite likely that after all that has happened in the past few seconds, Flighters will be swarming the area in several minutes. Which means, we need to leave, as one, now."

"Then leave by yourselves," Justinius said, glaring at the boy and the Flighter girl. "You should not have difficulty with them--they are your allies, are they not?"

He moved over to Kiandra while keeping an eye on everyone involved. "I have a safe house not far from here," he whispered. "We can hide the human there and work on a plan from there." He looked over the human and his gun, and he sighed inwardly. Humans were far too emotional. "I think you ought to talk to him, he trusts you most."

Just then, a loud, booming voice was heard not far from where they all stood.

"Submit to the Lavans! There is no escape!"

Mira's eyes widened, shifting to gaze upon Kiandra and Paul. She opened her mouth to tell them to hide, but she never got that far. The combined feeling of a rough hand on her shoulder and something sharp at her back made her freeze up in terror.

"Mira Flighter... I must insist that you and Kiandra come with us." he growled, smiling as he looked over at Nova. "We appreciate your effort, Flighter, but we can take it from here. You and your friend can leave." he said, turning behind him and nodding to the others, who walked forward to take care of them. "Detain the rest of them and bring them with me for questioning."

His eyes moved over the group again, resting on Paul. They widened in surprise "Is he the human?" he directed the question towards Mira, his voice making it more of an interrogation statement than anything.

She wasn't going to lie, she was definitely tempted to say yes. Anything to get away, to get home... but she knew what the authorities would do to him. Instant death, by whatever medium they chose. She would not have another death on her hands, not human or Bermudian.

"No!" Mira blurted out quickly. "He's one of us. A Bermudian."

"Oh? And what are his powers...?" he continued, digging the knife further into her spine, causing her to grimace and flinch more, but there was no way she could respond. Mira was stuck. Whatever she said, he would have to prove, and she could come up with nothing.

Kiandra gave Justinius a weary stare. At this point she wasn't sure who she could trust. No. She needed to get away. Without out giving a reply she turned only to crash into a large Flighter male. He glared down at her before roughly grabbing her by the arm and securing her to his side.

"Submit to the Lavans! There is no escape!"

Kiandra's mouth dropped. The Lavans were the oldest and strongest group of Flighters around. No one messed with them. They were tuff and got the job done no matter who got in the way. Legs trembling in terror she could see that Mira was held captive by the leader of the group. She listened to him speak and nearly fainted when he said the she had to go go along with them. Why on earth would they want her? Paul, everything seemed to be connected to him. Her gaze swiveled to him at the same time as the leader.

The Flighter's already firm grip tightened even more as if he sensed her desire to run. Unable to stop it a small whimper left her lips. Kiandra could already feel her tender skin beginning to bruise. Tears pricked her eyes as Mira blurted out that Paul was a Bermudian.

"Oh? And what are his powers...?"

Frightened she could see the panic in her eyes mirrored in Mira's. Paul would have to prove any powers they gave him. They needed more time to think. The trembling in her legs increased as she licked her dry lips. The only way to create time was a diversion.

Kiandra took a deep breath and snapped loudly, "Unhand me at once! my parents are very influential people, I demand an explanation as to why I am being manhandled as a common criminal!"

She glared up at the Flighter who held her and attempted to jerk her arm away only to have him shake her roughly and growl, "Enough or I will be forced to silence you."

Mira felt the man's low rumbling chuckle as he continued to hold her fast. "Well, I suppose if you can't tell me, I can always ask these two..." he said, motioning to Justinius and Paul, who hadn't yet shown whether or not either would come quietly.

Finally, inspiration hit. "His voice is amplified." she finally admitted, her voice almost a yelp. "It's always loud, all the time. Glass-shattering loud. Ear-splitting. He doesn't talk at all... because it hurts his own ears to do so." she gave Paul a glance as she spoke, trying to get the meaning through to him: keep your mouth shut. That was the only way she could see to prevent them finding out what he was.

The man grumbled something incoherent before looking over at Kiandra. "For your information, Volcan Ilusia wishes to have a word with you mischief-makers. Apparently, you've caught her attention for some reason or another. You," he looked over at Paul, "Might have some explaining to do, whether you can talk or not. Like how you gained that Lavan regulatory unit you have in your hands there." he said, motioning to the Beretta with his hand.

Mira winced. That made sense. Ilusia was in charge of the Lavans, she would be the one to send them after them. The girl wasn't sure what the Lavan meant by Paul having one of their 'regulatory units'. Didn't Paul bring that with him when he got here? She tried to move away from the man's vicious knife, but only found herself pulled harder against it. A growl escaped her lips. This constant man-handling was beginning to severely frustrate her. She had half a mind to shock the entire room.

Bane stared at all the Flighters for a second, blinking slowly, confusion spreading quickly as he listened to everything.

"Nova's friend?", he thought indignantly, before suddenly bursting out with a shout of, "I don't think so!"

In an instant he had moved five feet, stepping out beside the Lavan who held Mira, his blade held mere millimeters from the mans temple, knowing full well that in a second, he'd be attacked, and less than a second after that, he would most likely either be dead, or severely wounded.

"Release her, now.", he hissed, fire swirling from the tips of the fingers of his left hand, slowly rising, and shrouding the air directly around him in sparkling light, his cold eyes glittering with malice.

Paul nervously accepted Mira's lie. It gave a good reason for the shocked silence he had developed at this new development. Yet he wanted to get them all out of here without resistance from these new ones. He couldn't understand their language, but they didn't seem to be eating Mira's non-truth as easily as he was using it.

The lights quickly came to mind. He'd have to wait for the right moment. The pistol lowered slightly. The kid teleported again, and in that instant Paul brought the Beretta back up, shooting out the lights in a long sequence along the hallway they were in. Instantly they were all thrown into darkness. Paul turned to run, hoping none of these new foes could hear too well.

There was no going back. Not like there ever had been; Mira's lie would've fallen through pretty quickly when they realized he didn't understand them, and then he would've had to fight a lot more in their own home. Fighting them out here where there were fewer and they were on a level playing field.

((An idea to think about... Would be reasonable if the Bermudians were able to understand and speak all languages? Sort of a race-wide 'gift of tongues' power, in order to simplify things...))

The man holding Mira glared at the boy with cold, hard eyes. "You should be grateful to me for not thinking to bring you in the same as them." he said, motioning to the struggling female still in his grip. Immediately, three men dressed the same as he appeared from nowhere. "I would be pleased to remind you that you are not the only teleporter around here armed with deadly weapons. Back off, or my men will tear you to shreds."

It was that instant that shots were heard, and the lights went out. Mira's thoughts immediately went to Paul. Get out of here! she willed him on in her mind. They only wanted them to get to him, right? So if he wasn't there, they would have no interest in her or Kiandra. At least, she hoped they wouldn't.

She let out a yelp as the man squeezed her arms tighter, dragging her towards the exit without another word. Mira, of course, panicked. "Kian---" she managed to say, before her voice was cut off by a rough hand clamping over it. Static sparks flew out of her body, grounding themselves to whatever was closeby. The man grunted in discomfort, but held fast. He was a persistent Lavan, as he was trained to be.

Nova saw everything happening at once. She stood in the corner, keeping on the facade of good little flighter until someone did something. Paul shot out the lights and ran, leaving everyone in chaos.
She knew the lavan blocking the doorway had night vision, so she ran after Paul's echoing footsteps. She reached him after stumbling multiple times and grabbed his hand, turning herself and him invisible.
"Please, I'm here to help you." she whispered into his ear queitly, trying to figure out where a door would be. She hit something with her foot and tripped, keeping her death grip on Paul's hand as she did. "Don't let go of my hand, whatever you do." she said, trying to pull herself back up.

((Yah.. Either it's a gift of tongues or they are taught from a very young age to understand a ton of different languages.... though "Gift of Tongues" would be easier to pull off I think...)

"Stupid, friggen Human...", Bane muttered, spraying sparks into the air immediately around him, so that he could see in the darkness that Paul had plunged them all into. It seemed that it didn't matter what he did now, and after glancing around once, he promptly sat down, rolling his eyes at the chaos around him.

He slid his knife back into his filthy, tattered red jacket, and sighed, muttering,"Can we live in peace and happiness? I think not..."

As they were plunged into sudden darkness Kiandra heard Mira attempt to call her name. However her voice was cut off and Kiandra could see her being dragged off. Growling low in her throat Kiandra twisted her body in an attempt to get away but the Lavan merely hefted her up like a common grain sack and carried her to the exit. Angrier than she had been earlier Kiandra could hardly wait for the Lavan to pass by a puddle of water.

Paul again was pulled to a stop by the other girl. Her hand suddenly grasped his in the darkness, and he nearly accidentally shot his own foot. Suddenly her weight was on his hand as she apparently tripped; he pulled her up to her feet. "The door's this way," he murmured, sliding through and heading towards what he hoped would be the way towards his base of operations.

Lavans had gotten ahold of them, the human shot the lights out, and it had all gone to hell from there. As he stabbed the Lavan holding him with his ruined sabre, Justinius cursed that he didn't have control over light; the Flighter girl and her companion had probably taken hold of the human.

The third girl--the one that wasn't Kiandra or the Flighter--shouted, but was quickly silenced. The human would have to wait; without either of the girls, he didn't stand a chance getting the human's trust. He quickly patted himself down, wondering if he'd packed a compression capsule in case, and came up short. It can't be helped, then.

Before he could move towards either of the girls, a Lavan grabbed him. "How dare you touch me!" Justinius growled as he smacked the Lavan with his blade. "My jacket alone cost more than you're worth." He slammed the weapon into the Lavan's face, felt something warm and sticky run down his hand, and kicked the man away before running for one of the retreating Lavans.

Justinius hadn't been very happy before, especially with Lavans, but now one of them had gotten some bodily fluid all over his new jacket. As he neared the Lavan struggling with someone, he shifted the gravity right around him; the Lavan suddenly fell backwards and was wide open for a stab to the throat.

He brought gravity back to normal and looked over at the third girl, the one who'd shouted. "If you're going to fight, don't half-a** it!"
